A Happy Family Chapter 7
4 days later…
"Mommy is leaving," Chuck said as Henry ran to the front door to give his mother a hug and a kiss.
"Bye baby," Blair bent down and gave her son a hug and kiss before she went out the door to go meet Serena for lunch.
"Love you Mommy," Henry smiled as he patted Monkey on the head.
"Be good for your father and Uncle Nate," She called back as she walked out to the limo.
"Come on Henry," Chuck called to him through the intercom.
"Coming," Henry sighed as he began running up the stairs with Monkey following behind him.
"We have to get you dressed and ready to go because we are going to the Bass Club House," Chuck smiled.
"Why?" Henry asked curiously.
"Because today they are having registrations for a basketball league that you will get to play in," Chuck said.
"Is uncle Nate coming?" He asked.
"Yes," Chuck nodded.
"Well then daddy," Henry smiled, "what are you waiting for."
"You first have to get dressed." Chuck laughed as he followed his son up the stairs to the third floor.
"This was delicious," Blair said as she finished her plate.
"That's why we came," Serena laughed, "The food is never a let down," Serena smiled.
"Very true," Blair smiled.
"I'm so glad to hear that you liked Jenny's new sketches and the new line you asked her to create she can't stop talking about it." Serena smiled.
"Well I'm glad she is happy," Blair nodded.
"I mean, it meant a lot to Dan for you to offer her a place on your design team but then to give her, her own line," Serena smiled.
"I didn't do it for Dan S," Blair laughed, "It's business, I run a multi million dollar fashion empire and she just so happened to be the perfect fit."
"Well they are all very thankful." Serena smiled before calling over their waiter. "Can we please have some tea,"
"Of course," The waiter nodded and went off to bring over the box of teas.
"Well I feel like we haven't spent that much time together since the wedding." Blair smiled.
"Well considering that we went off on our honeymoon and you have been hosting party after party since then when would we have had the time to just have some girl time." Serena giggled.
"It's really not my fault that my wedding anniversary is at the beginning of December and then had your wedding, Christmas, New Years, and My son's birthday not to mention my husbands as well all back to back." Blair giggled.
"And you would think fashion week was your busiest time of the year for you," Serena laughed.
"One would think," Blair laughed, "Do you think Chuck liked his party?"
"Are you kidding me He loved it, I think he has finally embraced his birthday," Serena giggled, "I mean he married Blair Waldorf and every party you throw is always all out he was bound to finally embrace it eventually plus you both have some weird fascination with the prohibition era."
"Here is you tea," The waiter smiled at the girls, "I'll just leave the box here," He said before leaving.
"Well he said he loved it but I don't think Chuck would even tell me if he hated it " Blair said as she picked out some decaffeinated tea, "Anyway tell me how is married life going for Mrs. Humphrey," Blair smiled.
"Well the Honeymoon was amazing and we really can't thank you enough for lending us the Yacht so we could sail the Mediterranean it was magnificent," Serena cooed.
"That was all Chuck's doing," Blair smiled at her husband's generosity.
"Well being married so far has been amazing and speaking of which I have a really important question to ask you," Serena said.
"Well now I'm scared you look so serious all of a sudden." Blair laughed.
"Well what I want to talk about with you is serious." Serena said.
"Okay, what do you want to talk about S?" Blair asked curiously.
"Well now that me and Dan and married the topic of starting a family has come up and I'm not really sure I'm ready for it." Serena started and Blair nodded in understanding.
"And you wanted to know how I knew I was ready?" Blair finished for her best friend.
"Well I never like talking about it because it's hard for me to talk about especially given all the things that were going on and not mention I was with the wrong man at the time but I think Chuck was ready to be a parent before I was … I mean a man who was ready to parent a child that wasn't his I think is pretty much ready for anything," Blair said with a frown, "Chuck and Nate both say I was born ready to be a mother which I still don't agree with," Blair laughed.
"Well you are very maternal," Serena giggled.
"Well I would hope so," Blair nodded with a smile as she began thinking about her son.
"But when did you know you were ready to start a family with Chuck?" Serena asked again.
"Well we talked about it a lot when we were on our long honeymoon…I was ready to talk about it again… but the moment I knew I was ready was probably the moment Henry was born," Blair smiled.
"Really so that whole time you didn't know if you were ready?" Serena said in shock.
"Well I mean there were lots of moments throughout my pregnancy with him that both me and Chuck thought we weren't not capable of being parents and trust me there were many nights where we had to talk to each other and comfort each other and then there is the whole being responsible for another life," Blair smiled, " I mean your completely responsible for someone else's life babies are 100 percent dependent on you and that's a lot of pressure also." Blair smiled.
"Now that sounds scary," Serena said nervously.
"It does sound scary," Blair agreed. "But the second you hear your baby cry… it makes all those things worth it. I mean don't get me wrong your going to worry everyday about your child because you love them so much but it's worth it," Blair smiled.
"So what your saying is that once the baby comes everything is alright?" Serena asked.
"What I'm saying is that when the baby gets here you have no choice but to be ready," Blair said before taking a sip of her tea.
"Thanks," Serena smiled as she rested her hand on her flat stomach under the table.
"Uncle Nate," Henry ran to his uncle who was standing on the kiddie basketball court at the Bass Club House which is a family oriented athletic/country club Chuck and Blair opened together two years ago.
"Hey little buddy," Nate said as he scooped Henry up and threw him into the air and caught him.
"I'm here to play Batkit Ball," Henry laughed.
"Basket Ball," Nate laughed as he corrected Henry.
"That's what I said," Henry shrugged as he picked up one of the balls.
"Where's is your father?" Nate asked.
"He is over there with the papers," Henry said, "we are matching," Henry smiled as he pointed to the Purple onesie he was wearing.
"Oh I'm sure he is," Nate shook his laughing.
"Let's play." Henry said as he tried bouncing the ball.
"Okay," Nate said as he stood in the middle of the court, "do remember how to dribble?"
"Yes," Henry nodded as he began to bounce the ball to show off.
"Good," Nate smiled remembering how last year when Chuck and Blair went away for a weekend and was watching Henry that he spent hours teaching him how to bounce a ball, "who taught you how to do that?" Nate asked.
"You did silly," Henry laughed but soon forgot about that ball that began rolling away.
"Go get it," Nate said as Henry ran off to go catch up with basketball that was rolling away.
"He is all signed up," Chuck said as he approached his best friend wearing the same exact outfit his son was wearing.
"I sometimes can't even look at you when you wear those onesies," Nate laughed.
"What," Chuck shrugged, "They are extremely comfortable." He smirked.
"Well I still don't understand why you had to sign him up for the pee wee league considering you and Blair own this place," Nate asked.
"While we may be the owners we still have to sign him up like everyone else." Chuck laughed as he watched Henry run back to them with the basketball.
"Okay how about I teach you how to shoot the ball into the hoop?" Nate asked.
"Yeah," Henry shook his head excitedly, "Daddy are you going to help?"
"I'm not as good as your uncle Nate," Chuck said.
"He is four… your lack of basketball skills won't really effect him" Nate said as he went over to Henry and placed his hand in the correct places.
"Like this," Henry said looking up at his uncle.
"Perfect," Nate smiled.
"Daddy look," Henry shouted.
"I see," Chuck smiled.
"Okay now you want to get it into the hoop," Nate said as he watched Henry shot and miss.
"Oh no," Henry frowned, "the ball didn't listen to me," Henry turned around and look at his father.
"It's okay Hen try again," Chuck said as he picked up the ball gave it back to his son.
"Okay," Henry nodded.
"But this time try throwing it this way," Nate said as he showed Henry how to throw the ball underhand.
"Okay," Henry nodded before trying to the throw the ball they way his uncle just showed him. "I did it!" Herny screamed as he ran into Nate arms.
"Yes you did," Nate smiled.
"Daddy," did you see it.
"I did and you're so good at it," Chuck smiled as he gave his son another basketball.
"Watch again," Henry said as he began to shot the ball again.
"We are watching," Chuck assured him.
1 hour later…
"Oh god look at my boys," Blair said as she entered the gymnasium and spotted her husband and son on the basketball court.
"How can you miss them?" Serena laughed as they walked across the court to go sit on the bleachers.
"You can't and pretty sure that's the point," Blair laughed as she sat down to watch.
"Nate's really good with him," Serena mentioned as she watched Nate teach Henry some new move.
"Yeah if only we could find him a good girl to marry and start a family with," Blair sighed.
"He will eventually we are still very young," Serena smiled as she watched Chuck wave at them and then point at Henry with a smile obviously very proud of him.
"Yeah…I sometimes do meddle," Blair admitted.
"Sometimes," Serena laughed, "try all the time."
"Well he is picking all the wrong women what am I supposed to do?" Blair asked.
"Let him be," Serena said.
"Please," Blair rolled her eyes, "Nate doesn't know what he wants."
"Exactly so just let him figure it out," Serena sighed.
"I guess I could try that," Blair shrugged.
"He is content right now and he is still dealing with his grandfather," Serena reminded her.
"True," Blair agreed.
"Hen look who came to see you practice?" Chuck went over to his son who was busy shooting the ball.
"Who?" Henry Stopped and looked at his father.
"Look over there," Chuck pointed over to his wife and sister who were smiling and waving.
"Mommy and Aunt Sewena!" Henry smiled and was showing them the ball he was holding.
"Show me how you shoot the ball," Blair called out.
"Watch," Henry called out as he shot the ball and luckily got in the basketball hoop.
"YAY!" Blair and Serena cheered proudly.
"Did you see that!" Henry yelled as he began running across the court to his mother but unfortunately for him is body wasn't carrying him fast enough and he tripped and fell flat on the floor. Before it even happened both Chuck and Blair began running over to him.
"Waaaa….mommy…. I want mommy," Henry began crying.
"Shhh," Blair cooed as she picked him up and brought him over to a near by bench as Serena and Nate watched.
"It hurts," Herny continued to cry.
"Where does it hurt?" Chuck asked as he put Henry on his lap.
"Right here," Henry pointed to his knee.
"Well I don't think it broken," Blair smirked at her husband.
"Nope don't think it broken," Chuck agreed.
"It hurts," Henry whined.
"Well Let my kiss your boo boo and makes it all better," Blair smiled at her young son.
"it won't feel better," Henry protested but Blair bent down anyway and kissed his knee.
"All better?" She asked with a sweet smile.
"Yes," Henry said as he stopped crying.
"Look at them," Nate said with a smile as he walked over to where Serena was sitting and watching her best friends care for their son.
"I know," Serena smiled, "it's still so crazy to see them like this."
"I feel like watching them sometimes is like I'm living in an alternate reality." He laughed, Serena smiled as she watched her best friend and brother comfort her nephew. She watched as her Best friend wiped her sons tears away and take his hand and bring him back on the court and asking him to teach her how to play.
"But they are so good at," Serena smiled.
"They are," He nodded, "Blair just took of her shoes I think my eyes are deceiving me," He started laughing.
"I want that," Serena whispered quietly to herself as she smiled and continued to watch the Bass family play on the court .
"He just fell asleep," Blair smiled as she walked into the home office where her husband was going over some emails.
"Running around all day long usually tires him out," He chuckled.
"Yes it does," Blair laughed lightly as Chuck spun around in his chair to pull her into his lap.
"So how was your lunch with Serena?" He asked curiously.
"It was good," She smiled.
"Good." He said before kissing her.
"I had to run to the bathroom on the way to meet up with you guys," She sighed as she placed her hand on her still non existent stomach.
"Hey Baby Bass stop making your mother sick," Chuck said while laughing.
"Your too cute," Blair smiled.
"Only for you," He kissed her again.
"I think Serena and Dan are getting ready to start a family," Blair suddenly said.
"And why do you think that?" He asked.
"Well that fact that she was asking my when I knew I was ready to start a family kind of seemed like a dead give away," She sighed.
"Well that's good," Chuck smiled, "you always wanted to have kids with Serena and have them go to school together and be best friends," He smiled.
"Well she isn't pregnant yet or at least I don't think she is," Blair said simply.
"Well in the meantime I think I may have bought you some desert that would most likely be best served in the bedroom," Chuck smirked at her before getting up from his chair and scooping her up in arms.
"mmmm," Blair moaned, "how did you know I was craving desert," She smirked.
"It's my job as your husband to make sure every craving you have is properly satisfied," He smiled wickedly.
