I... really have nothing to say for myself except I'm so sorry. I'm doing the best I can to keep up with this story from now on, I promise. Please bare with me.

Dean walked back to Cas with a triumphant grin and two burgers in hand. He had survived the joint interrogation of Ellen and Jo and even managed to come out with a prize. Life was good. He dropped the burgers down next to Cas' feet and started the car. "I know a place," he started, keeping his eyes on the road. "It's... Not somewhere I usually take people, but... You seem like you need it a hell of a lot more than I do at the moment."

He saw Cas nod out of the corner of his eye. "You might as well eat your burger, it's a fair way out of town." Again, Cas nodded and reached down to grab his burger, but didn't say a word and didn't unwrap it, either. He just sat there with the wrapped burger in his hand. It wasn't that Dean wanted to force him to open up or anything, but it couldn't be good for the guy to keep it all in. Dean just wanted to know that he was okay. Or at least mostly okay.

Dean eventually had to turn his full attention back to the road, as it started twisting and turning. The last thing they needed right now was an accident. The weird thing about the place he was taking Cas, was that the road that lead there was the longest possible route. To get there from town, when he was walking, it took Dean half the time it did driving. The other weird thing, that was also great, was that it was far enough off the road that if you didn't know it was there, you wouldn't ever know. It was the place he went when he needed to get away and think, when he just couldn't deal with people and places and business and he just needed to breath.

But what he really needed in that moment, was to see Castiel smile.

So he turned up the radio, and started singing along to ACDC the very worst he could, because hey, why not? " She was a fast machine she kept her motor clean, she was the best damn woman that I ever seen-" He had Cas' attention. An eyebrow raise. That was okay, but not what he was aiming for. "She had the sightless eyes telling me no lies, knocking me out with those American thighs-" A small twitch of the lips. He was nearly there. "Taking more than her share, had me fighting for air, she told me to come but I was already there-" he wiggled his eyebrow in the worst possible suggestive way, and that was it. Cas' face split into a smile.

It wasn't one of those smiles that radiated happiness and made you feel warm inside, and it didn't quite reach his eyes, but there was a small spark that had been relit behind the blue of Cas' eyes, and that was enough for Dean! for the moment. Dean felt gay for even thinking that. But then, he supposed, some of the other thoughts he'd had about Cas weren't exactly straight either. He was so far past denial that it was just a spot in his review mirror. And the next road sign was coming up fast saying 'admitting you like him' in big, block letters.

The most terrifying thing for him though, was he didn't even mind. Usually, by the point he was at, his brain was yelling at him to abort! To get out while he still could. But no, his brain seemed perfectly okay with the idea of being with Cas. It was just a matter of how Cas would feel about him being with Cas... That was completely up in the air.

The song finished and Dean didn't even realise that he'd still been singing along ridiculously, but Cas was still smiling when he pulled up to his destination, a couple of minutes later and that was all that mattered. "We just walk for about five minutes, and we're there," Dean told him, nodding to an old track that was barely still there. Cas nodded again and Dean started walking.

The track was only wide enough for them to walk single file, and occasionally, the bushes would close in on the track and it would disappear completely, but Dean knew where he was going and he easily lead. Cas through it.

After five minutes of walking, just as Dean promised, the track opened up into quite a huge area, surrounded by rocks, with a lake in the middle of it. There were no lights, so the stars were visible and no other people, so it was completely silent except for the sounds of nature.

That was when Cas finally spoke. "It's beautiful." And Dean couldn't argue with that. It really was. He'd made a pact with himself never to bring anyone else there, but looking back at Cas as he took it all in with wide eyes, Dean couldn't bring himself to mind.

I know it's not very long but it's an update, right? Right? Please don't hurt me.
