I'm Back! And it's about time too. For those of you interested in where I had gone I've been busy with work and with another story I've been writing. Not a Fanfic but an actual story of my own making, and boy it's a lot harder then you might think.

Anyway I want to thank Fairy-Tail-Lover243961 for asking my where I've been and that they missed this story. It made me realize that I have indeed been gone for too long and that I too have missed this story. So for all you others that have also missed it, here is chapter 9.

"Master Ivan."

Ivan Dreyar looked up from the book he was reading to see one of his members. He had been so engrossed in his book he didn't even hear them come in.

"Is there news from Blood Lily?"

"They reported that the kidnapping was a failure. However they believe they can prove something we have been suspicious of."

"Oh?" Ivan put his book down, "And what is that?"

"They believe that Laxus Dreyar is the father. He protected the woman when Blood Lily attacked."

Ivan chuckled lightly.

"In that guild protecting a fellow member is not that uncommon." Ivan paused thinking, "However it would explain much of my son's recent activities."

Ivan chuckled again.

"So I have a grandchild on the way. How interesting."

"Children Master Ivan. We've discovered the Fairy is pregnant with twins."

Ivan smiled widely.

"Even better. Put more effort into capturing that girl. I would very much like to meet the mother of my grandchildren and perhaps she will even consent to having them here."

"Of course Master Ivan. Shall I send out our own guild members?"

"Not yet. I don't wish to show my hand just yet. Blood Lily has done well for us in the past. Let them continue this kidnapping mission."

"I will inform them Master Ivan."

Finally left alone again Ivan had one last thought before returning to his book; 'How like a Dreyar to keep secrets.'

You know that feeling you get after you've done something that uses a lot of muscles you don't usually do? Like during an activity you don't often do? Like skiing? Yeah that's how Cana felt the morning after the surprise attack. A soreness that invaded every part of her body. She felt like she had been used as a punching bag. Glancing around she realized she wasn't at her house; the room she laid in too plain, the bed bigger then even a king size. Who in the world really needed a bed that big? Her internal question was answered seconds later as Laxus poked his head through the door.

"You're finally up." He said opening the door fully, "It's almost noon."

"That would explain all the light." Cana grumbled.

"How do you feel?"

"Like shit."

"So about as well as you look."

Cana snorted and let her head drop back onto the pillow.

"I couldn't find your house keys so I brought you here."

"I hide my house key in that potted plant next to my front door. I don't actually carry it with me."

Laxus gave her an odd look.

"What if someone finds it?"

"Then they can get into my house." Cana stated bluntly.

Laxus shook his head at that.

"I'll go make you something to eat." He said turning to the door.

"You can cook?" Cana asked bolting up right. The few times they had eaten together had either been at Cana's house where she cooked or at the guild. She had no idea he could.

"Well yeah. I live alone."

Cana shrugged as she followed him out of the bedroom.

"You've could've eaten all your meals at the guild."

Laxus smirked.

"Mira doesn't cook as well as me."

Cana snorted.

"That's a bold statement. Prove it."

Laxus' smirk widened as he entered the kitchen. Fifteen minutes later he placed a sausage, egg and cheese omelet with buttered toast, hash browns and a glass of orange juice in front of her. Cana was slightly impressed. She was even more so after the first bite.

"Well at least you make a good omelet." she finally said after finishing about half of it. Laxus just snorted as he ate his own breakfast.

"Are you really alright?" Laxus asked quietly as they finished.

Cana shrugged slightly, her hands resting on the twins.

"About as well as I can be after an attack like last night's."

"Porlyusica should be here soon. I sent her a message just before you got up. I was afraid you weren't going to." Cana nodded her head in understanding, but her thoughts were still on last night.

"Cana?"

"Sorry, just thinking about last night. Didn't you say something about information."

Laxus chuckled lightly as he cleaned off the table.

"I'm surprised you remember that. You were half asleep when I mentioned it."

Cana shrugged again.

"Yea well if I can have a full conversation while I'm pissed drunk and remember most of it the next morning, I should be able to remember something you mumbled while I was falling asleep." She paused looking thoughtful, "Or maybe it just sounded muffled cause I was half asleep." Cana shook her head. What the hell did it matter anyway. She looked over at Laxus to see him suppressing a laugh. As her glance turned into a glare, Laxus cleared his throat.

"Right well remember how I told you I've been keeping an eye on Raven Tail?" Cana nodded. Laxus had told her that when she had told him she felt like someone has been watching her.

"Well they still haven't moved in this area. In fact they've been inactive for quite sometime."

"What does that mean?" Cana's thoughts were once again on last night. If Raven Tail wasn't behind last night then who the hell attacked her last night?

"Though I haven't confirmed the two from last night I think I might know whose been following you."

"We're not even sure if I am being followed."

Laxus shrugged. He was at the sink washing their dishes.

"After the attack I think it's safe to say that you are. Freed and the others came across another Dark Guild while investigating possible shadow users in the area. They're called Blood Lily."

"Never heard of them."

"Neither have I, so I told them to do some digging. Blood Lily is a smaller Dark guild, just recently created in fact. Not only that but the way Dark guilds work is that any newly formed guild must stay under a guild with higher standing, for protection and guidance."

"Complicated."

Laxus shrugged again. He wasn't really all that interested in the inner workings of Dark guilds. Cana cocked her head.

"So let me guess. This guild Blood Lily is under your father's guild." Laxus' shoulders tensed at the word father but he nodded at her all the same.

"So it seems that Ivan doesn't need his guild o do anything as long as Blood Lily is under him. They do his dirty work while he gets to pull strings."

"And even if we did discover who's been after me it would all fall on Blood Lily's shoulders. All our concentration would be on them and we would have never known it was really Raven Tail all along. How the hell did you find all this out?"

Laxus smirked.

"I told you the Rajinshu have been bored."

Cana smiled, slightly shaking her head.

"So what do we do know that we know this?"

Laxus opened his mouth but was interrupted before he could say anything by a knock on the door.

"That's probably Porlyusica."

Cana groaned.

"She's gonna be so pissed at me."

Laxus chuckled softly as he made his way to the door. Cana stayed in the kitchen in the hopes that she could hide from the angry healer for as long as possible.

"Where is she?" Cana heard the undertone of anger in the pink-haired woman's voice and flinched. Cana didn't hear Laxus respond but he must have said something because moments later Porlyusica walked into the kitchen, her ever present frown on her face.

"Drink this." she said immediately placing a bottle of clear liquid on the table. Cana sighed but did as she was told. She inwardly flinched as she drank the ice cold liquid. No matter how many times she had to drink this particular potion it still made her want to gag. Porlyusica was busy with a video lacrima, setting it on the table and activating it. In seconds a picture of the the inside of Cana's womb was showing on the lacrima and information ran across the second smaller lacrima that Porlyusica had placed next to the first one.

"Are they ok?" Laxus asked quietly from behind her.

"They are fine." Porlyusica said briskly, "Cana on the other hand is not."

"Huh." Cana said, "I feel fine."

Porlyusica continued speaking as if Cana never did. She tended to do that to the brunette a lot.

"Cana you've been extremely weakened both physically and magically. I'm assuming the cause would be that attack you mentioned." Porlusica glanced at Laxus as she said that.

"But I feel fine." Cana protested. And it was true. Though she was still sore all over she felt better then she had in weeks.

"You should feel fine. You're borrowing strength from the twins."

Both Cana and Laxus gaped at her. Porlyusica's face softened just slightly as she looked at the lacrima containing the twins.

"They're very strong if they're able to support both themselves and you."

Cana clapped her hands to the twins. Wasn't it supposed to be the other way around? Wasn't she supposed to be the one supporting them?

"Isn't that bad?" Cana asked quietly. She was rubbing soft circles across her stomach but her gaze was glued to the lacrima in front of her. She didn't even notice when Laxus walked around the table and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.

"That they're this strong? Certainly not. And given the magical power of the two of you it's expected that you're children are strong. However they are still growing and much of their strength is needed from proper growth. They can not support you much longer."

"So what do I do?"

"You can not use magic for the remainder of you're pregnancy. Do not physically strain yourself and while I know this is extremely difficult for you to do try to stay out of any stressful situations."

Laxus snorted softly behind her but Cana ignored him. She had this tight feeling in her chest that she didn't feel very often and she wasn't sure how to react.

"Stay at home and rest a few days. Your body will be able to recuperate a bit and that will take some of the stress off the twins." Porlyusica instructed as she put her things away, "I'll see you for your check up in a few days."

Cana nodded absently, her hands still moving over her stomach. Laxus didn't move as Porlyusica left. He was watching Cana in concern.

"Cana?" He questioned once they were alone again.

"Hmm?"

"You alright?"

"Apparently not." Cana said with a shaky laugh. Laxus tightened his grip on her shoulder.

"They'll be fine and so will you."

"Is it possible to screw up as a mother before you're child is even born?"

Laxus pulled Cana's chair around so that she faced him fully. He was frowning.

"This isn't you're fault Cana. None of this is you're fault and you know it. You'll be fine."

Cana abruptly stood causing Laxus to take a step back.

"I guess I should go home and start getting that rest Porlyusica was talking about."

Laxus shook his head.

"You're not going anywhere. Not with Blood Lily looking for you. You're staying here until further notice." Laxus said sternly. Cana quickly dropped her head so he wouldn't see her blush. What was it about Laxus being overprotective of her that made her insides squirm, and not in a bad way either.

"What about the stuff I'll need?" Cana kept her head down which was probably odd enough but at least her voice came out steady.

"We'll stop by your place later. I want to talk to Gramps. He needs to be updated. He didn't want to alert the whole guild back when you first told me you were being followed but now it's different."

Cana finally looked up at him.

"You haven't told him about the attack yet?"

"No. I haven't been able to get a hold of him. He only has a video lacrima in his office and he's hardly ever there."

"What about the one Mira keeps behind the bar?"

"It's been busy the few times I've tried it. Though who's been contacting the guild so frequently I have no idea."

Cana sighed, slumping her shoulders. She was just so tired of it all. It was like the fates were conspiring against her. Telling her that she really shouldn't be having a child, let alone two of them.

Laxus hesitated a moment before carefully wrapping his arms around Cana and pulling her into a hug, or at least as much of a hug as the twins allowed. Cana stiffened for a moment before relaxing, trying very hard not to laugh at how tense Laxus was. She buried her face into his chest and gripped the front of his t-shirt, partly to hide how red her face got at his embrace and partly because he smelt good.

"You're gonna be fine Cana. I'm not going to let anything happen to you." He whispered against her hair. Cana said nothing in return. She was too busy thinking about how safe she felt.

So once again this story it running away with it's self and leaving me flabbergasted at where it is going. Not that I mind too much since I kind of like where it's going. I want to once again thank everyone for their patience in waiting for me to get my act together and getting this posted. Hopefully Chapter 10 is up sooner then later for all of you to enjoy.

For anyone wondering that whole part with Porlyusica and the lacrimas, it was the magical version of an ultrasound.
