Stormy Nights
(Seto/Mary)
.
I don't understand.
The way her body gracefully sways with every step she takes. The way her height compliments mine. The way her smile always brightens up under the sun. The way her pale hair tickles softly on my chin. The way her small hands desperately grasp my large ones. The way her fragile tears roll down that smooth cheek.
Or how finely young she looks.
It has been more than two years since I met her. Yet somehow, she never looked that different. Her face was soft, just like when I first met her. Her body seemed to get smaller as each day passes. Her fragile stamina worries me the most. I noticed how she doesn't seem to-
"S-seto," she suddenly calls me out of my daze.
I turned to face her. A frightful look on her face. Her small body trembled under the dim living room light. It was a cold night, and the storm outside seemed endless. I gestured her to sit next to me and she complies. She always does. I always find that submissive behavior to be an appealing trait from her. The one thing that would never change from that small body.
Smiling softly, I replied, "What's wrong, Mary?"
The small girl suddenly leans on my chest, trembling uncontrollably. "W-will you a-accompany m-me tonight? T-The storm scares me..." she croaks weakly. "I-I can't s-s-sleep."
A tint of red suddenly invades her pale face. I chuckled under my breath. Her embarrassed look was always a favorite of mine.
I stroked her silver hair gently, feeling the soft strands running through my fingers. Slowly but sure, I held her body close to mine. Sharing my warmth to her cold trembling body. She instantly relaxes at my gesture, snuggling her body closer to my warmth. Even then, I couldn't help but feel my face heating up as well.
I remember how Mary used to tell me stories of her Mother. How she likes to sleep with her Mother every time a dreadful storm strikes the forest. How her Mother likes to read her books before bed, and her lonely days in the forest without anyone. She told me that she was grateful I found her. She was glad that she could finally move on and become a better person. Since then, all I could do was stay at her side and teach her the wonders of the world. She complies, laughing happily at all the new curiosity she has found.
I don't want to lose that side of her.
I rest my head on top of hers, gently rubbing her left arm slowly. She closed her eyes, making herself more comfortable under my touch. Butterflies rumbled inside my stomach, it was an unavoidable emotion, I noticed. This feeling has occurred for the last two years I've been with her.
Heaving a content sigh, I said, "It's okay, Mary. I'll stay by your side until you sleep."
No, I'll stay with you until I die.
Those soft eyes looked up. A radiant smile stretched from ear to ear, "Really? T-thank you, Seto."
I could only smile back towards her as I turned the dim light off. This was going to be a peaceful night.
A/N: I don't even know what I'm doing anymore. I just had SetoMary feels that's all...
