Bored, she stared down at Earth as a white pinpoint in the sky.

A star, humans called her. They believed she was a star. True, she lived inside the star, but she most definitely not a star. Stars were puny. Uniform. She was much bigger and brighter than other star.

What would it be like, to be an omniscient and omnipotent being? Well, her existence answered that question.

Boring. It was so utterly boring.

She already knew everything, so what was the use in finding things out, exploring? There wasn't any. She already had life's mysteries solved. What was the use in going on an adventure when she already knew everything that was going to happen?

And so she sat in the star, in the white pinpoint in the sky, or at least that's how the humans could see it.

The humans… they were curious. She'd had all the time in the world to mull over the existence of humans, and all the other races they named 'aliens'. In truth, to them, the humans were aliens. Organic life forms, capable of life.

What would it be like to live as one of them… wait. Was that… was that something she didn't know?

She couldn't believe that it didn't come to her before! With her unlimited power, she could very easily reincarnate herself as a human. Her knowledge was blocked at the possibilities of this until now, and it fascinated her.

She would do this, but first, she would have to ask him. The one whom her knowledge had never reached towards, and vice versa. She would need him to agree and join her in this mighty quest.

"Hey! Where are you?" she boomed from the safety of her star.

"I'm right here, geez," he called back.

"Get in here, I need to talk to you about something!"

"You're already talking to me now," he snipped. "Besides, I don't want to go into that thing."

She poked part of her ethereal body out. "It's just a star, wimp! Get in here!"

"It's a glowing white-hot mass of hydrogen and helium. Why would I want to get inside it?" he asked.

"Because it's cool!"

"On the basis that you don't mean temperature, I don't see what's so 'cool' about it. And didn't you tell me how puny they are just a while ago?"

"I don't care. If I'm sitting in a star then that means all kinds of creatures are looking at me all the time!" she reasoned.

He just sighed. "Okay, okay. What do you want? And why are we even speaking in human Japanese?"

"Oh, I just picked a random human language. Japan it is!"

He sniffed. "What, you want to go for a visit? What's the point of that?"

"You see, I had an idea…"

Briskly, she explained her plan. She wove her words carefully in the most mind-bogglingly praising way. However, he was not fooled.

"So you want to become a 'puny' human because you never thought about doing that before, for some reason," he repeated.

"That's right!"

"And why hadn't you thought of that before? To think of it, I haven't even thought of that before."

"You see!?"

"But there's a whole lot of factors to think about. What time period, for one?"

"Does it matter?" she huffed.

"We're gods of the universe. We're in all the times, all the places, all the time," he deadpanned before muttering, "Not that we actually do anything with our power… there's no point in it anyways…"

"Then why are we acting like normal humans in this single place, huh? Tell me that!"

"Because we're focusing our consciousnesses here and because you're getting way too much into character."

"Hmm… that's true," she said, totally disregarding the latter half of that sentence.

They floated there absentmindedly for a few moments.

"Well, we're going to have to plan a lot if we want to do this. What will our human names be? What genders? What will we look like? What will be our histories? Will we even remember that we're gods?"

"Of course not! That's be against the whole point," she replied. "But… well, I just wanted to jump into all this, you know? Just pick a persona and get into it!"

He snorted. "Always one to just rush into things."

"Always one to over think things," she shot back. "But, you're agreeing on this, right?"

"Does it matter?" he asked rhetorically.

"Of course. I mean, it's not like I can do this without you."

If energy beings could smile, they both did.

Haruhi Suzumiya's head lolled on the windowsill. Her hair spilled over the edge. Looking above at the night sky, her imagination flared briefly.

What if she were a star? Everyone would look up at her, from all worlds. Everyone would see her and some would even praise her.

But it would probably be so lonely without anyone up there with her.

She'd probably have to bring Kyon. Of course, there was also Yuki, Koizumi-kun and Mikuru-chan. Tsuruya-chan was a good option. Maybe she'd even bring some of Kyon's less than fascinating lackeys, just to pass the time.

But then again, she couldn't bring too many people, because that would defeat the whole point.

The best option was probably Kyon. He got annoying sometimes—okay, more then sometimes—but at least he'd keep her entertained the longest.

Haruhi thought of things like this a lot, and usually Kyon ended up being the best option. They balanced out well. If only he wasn't so disdainful of everything…

She sighed, her head rolling to the other side. It was so quiet at this hour. If only humans didn't have to sleep. The world could be an easier place to live in. More lively.

But sleep, like many other things, was inevitable.

In the late hours of the night, it wasn't uncommon for her to feel this melancholy. She liked to look up at the stars and wonder what could possibly be out there. Races, alien species, gods?

Altair and Vega never seemed so close, yet so far away.

Bored, she stared up from Earth at a white pinpoint in the sky.
