A/N: I'm so sorry, five months is truly too long of a wait. For some reason that's how long it took me to get re-inspired and finish the last two paragraphs of this.

I will get around to responding to reviews, I promise! School's been really busy and I have play rehearsals every day. Also, i plan on participating in NaNoWriMo this year so I've been trying to plan things out.

Thank you so much for sticking around for the past five months despite the lack of updates and I hope you'll continue to!

Disclaimer: I do not own Reborn!

Tsuna stretches till he hears his muscles pop in disagreement and tries to stifle an oncoming yawn. It comes out anyway and causes his arm to fling itself into the small cow child sleeping next to him. Despite Tsuna's hopes, Lambo is startled awake and nearly punches Tsuna in the nose with a head-butt. Luckily, he dodges it, and manages to catch Lambo's writhing body before he breaks something.

Lambo blinks before running his mouth, which Tsuna choices to ignore and nod along like he's listening. Tsuna gets them both dressed and gathers the loud ego in his arms. When he goes to open the door, he barely has his hand wrapped around the knob when it's slammed open and clean off its hinges. Lambo begins shaking while Tsuna solemnly looks at the innocent door – well, shards of wood. He doesn't notice the frantic twin tearing his hair out in his doorway.

"Tsuna!" he whines, "Have you seen Lambo?!" He begins mumbling, not bothering to notice the cow chilling in Tsuna's arms. "Kaa-san's going to kill me! She said to look after Lambo not lose him and we have to get to school soon or we'll be late and what if he got out of his room somehow and found outside! What if he chased a car or something and got lost or the dog catcher caught him and now he's in the pound and - and -and-"

Thankfully, he doesn't get a chance to finish his train of worried thought because a small black boot shoves him down the hallway and through another door. Tsuna and Lambo peek out of the doorway and decide he's fine when he gets up and starts screaming at the smirking hitman. They both silently agree that it's time to flee the scene.

"Tsu-kun!" Nana gushes when he walks into the kitchen clutching a hungry Lambo. She sweeps them up into a hug and they both could've sworn they heard cracks from how hard she was squeezing them. She finally notices their faces changing colors from lack of oxygen and giggles. She gives one last squeeze before releasing them. "Are you boys hungry? Breakfast will be ready in a second!"

That doesn't settle well for the youngest and he gives a shrill scream, "Lambo-san is starving and ready for food now!"

A light smack to the back of his head makes him even madder but he becomes quiet as Ieyasu enters and gives him a threatening look. He was still upset about no one telling him about Lambo's room adjustment.

~~Reborn!~~

They manage to get through breakfast despite a few more bumps, but they were small and mostly consisted of Lambo's demands for more food and tears when he was denied it. The walk to school was interesting and consisted of a few more people than usual.

Gokudera had shown up, like he had the last few days, like a loyal guard dog. Ieyasu had taken off with him before he could get a single word out and Tsuna chose to hang back a few feet from them at all times. When they got closer to school, they had run into Kyoko and Hana who shot the two friends a dirty look. Scaring Tsuna into running away seemed like what they were aiming for because they glared him down like he was a cute innocent doe and they were starving lions. He tries to brush it off as they follow the three to school but he feels their eyes trying to drill holes into his head.

Eventually Gokudera is the one who gets sick of it. "What is your problem?" he asks angrily. It had gotten way too quiet and their anger was palpable.

Kyoko pouts, looking away immediately, but Hana refuses to do such a thing and instead snarls at the teen, "What's my problem? What's my problem?!" Her voice increases in volume as she steps closer to Gokudera, who begins to back away slowly. Hana cuts off her glare and spins around to grab Tsuna's arm. He flinches but she presses forward and jerks his sleeve upward with enough force to rip it.

"Tsuna never went to the hospital like we told him to!" Hana gestures to his hand which is only slightly purpled and otherwise uninjured. Hana glances at it and sputters indignantly. Kyoko's eyes widen significantly and are stunned into silence.

A confused Ieyasu takes over the conversation, "Why would he need to go to the hospital?" He scratches his head in contemplation, trying to remember if something happened.

Kyoko finds her voice and the usual sweet voice is tainted with pure shock, "While saving Yamamoto-san, he tore his hand up on the building…or so I thought…"

Everyone turns to Tsuna who shrugs and gently shakes Hana off. He continues on to school, leaving the rest behind in a dust of confusion.

~~Reborn!~~

Yamamoto appears from thin air as soon as Tsuna reaches the gates and flings his arm around Tsuna's shoulders. "Hey, Tsuna! How you doing today?"

Tsuna flinches and says nothing, instead shrugging. Yamamoto keeps trudging, "Do you understand what's going on in math? Because I have no idea myself…"

Tsuna gives him a curious look before shaking his head solemnly. Yamamoto laughs and nods in understanding. "Yeah, we need to stick together then!" He looks back and sees Ieyasu and the rest coming.

"Hn." Yamamoto jumps at a deep voice from in front of them. Tsuna looks on in boredom while Yamamoto finds Hibari in front of them, seemingly ready to attack. He takes his arm from around Tsuna and Hibari seems to relax as does Tsuna. Yamamoto's smile wavers before coming back full force. Hibari disappears as soon as they both blink.

"Yamamoto!" Ieyasu calls and they see them now caught up. Yamamoto responds by giving Ieyasu a gentle punch in the arm. "You don't understand anything in math too, right? Cause, Tsuna and I were talking and neither of do either of us. Which means, we need to stick together to get through math class!"

Ieyasu smiles and agrees but Gokudera grows angry at his show of affection. Hana crosses her arms in defiance, "Not everyone is failing math, Yamamoto-san."

Yamamoto laughs and gives her a sideways hug as a hello, "Would you like to teach those who are?"

Hana shoves him off and sticks her nose in the air, "Of course not, I don't have time." She grabs Kyoko's arm and drags her off while she tries to wave goodbye.

~~Reborn!~~

It's not until later that Gokudera gets to talk to Reborn and he's not happy. A frown graces his face as he sits on a windowsill next to Reborn's fire hydrant hideout. Reborn's hat is off and he has on a peculiar costume Gokudera doesn't quite understand, but doesn't say anything out of respect.

Gokudera gnashes his teeth together to try to spell his anger, "You're not really going to let that idiot join our ranks?" He was, of course, talking about Yamamoto, who since the morning, been hanging around and talking to Ieyasu and Tsuna as much as he could. Ieyasu and Yamamoto had always been friends, as they were on the same baseball team, but seemed even friendlier and was now talking to his brother.

In the absence of a response, Gokudera bangs his fist on the window, "He can't be trusted and a baseball is smarter than him! I refuse to accept him!"

Reborn sips from a small cup of hot coffee, a smirk and a plan beginning to form in the rise of steam from his cup.

~~Reborn!~~

After school, Tsuna finds himself unwillingly kidnapped and brought to outside the pool area. He sees he's not the only one there and Gokudera and Yamamoto are currently engaged in a one sided glaring match with no conclusion. Tsuna edges around them towards the pool where he spots Ieyasu and Reborn, with the latter in a floatie.

Ieyasu yells something about not using the pool for legal reasons when Reborn interrupts without a care, "Anyway, in order to satisfy Gokudera, I've decided to give Yamamoto a 'family entrance test'."

"What?!" Ieyasu spits incredibly. His eyes widen as he processes the new information, "I can't go along with that! You didn't ask me and he's busy playing baseball anyway! Like I should be doing instead of playing mafia house!"

Reborn dives into the pool, "I've already sent Gokudera to summon Yamamoto."

Ieyasu nearly chokes and speeds off, already thinking of the repercussions. He had seen the way Gokudera regarded Yamamoto and the hate vibe he gave off whenever near the other. That and Gokudera had gone on a spew about him not being right for the familigia, not that Ieyasu understood what that had to do with anything. His gut told him that if Gokudera got the chance, he would crush Yamamoto, especially if he thought it best for the Vongola.

Lucky for him, the two were just outside the pool and having a stare down, neither wanting to give up, despite Yamamoto's large smile and general confusion to being brought there.

Ieyasu flings himself into the middle and pushes them away from each other and clings to Gokudera with desperation. He really doesn't need his friends killing each other. "Gokudera, we need to talk," he explains quickly, glancing every few seconds at Yamamoto who pretends nothing suspicious is going on. Ieyasu cuts off all of Gokudera's weak protests and drags him away.

Tsuna, who was previously hanging out of sight, figures it's a good time to ask Yamamoto a question. He hesitantly steps towards the taller boy, who notices him and a look of happy shock makes Tsuna's heart feel pricked. He didn't need others being happy around him.

Tsuna swallows and points to Yamamoto's bandaged arm were his cast once was. It takes a second but it clicks, "You're wondering how my arm is doing?" He guesses.

Tsuna nods and gets a genuine smile from the baseball player, "Really well thanks to you!" He flexes his arm as if to reassure him, "The doctor said I'll be able to play baseball sooner than expected too!"

Tsuna offers a tiny real smile that knocks Yamamoto off guard. And he barely recovers when Ieyasu and Gokudera reappear from their talk. They both look stubborn and if Tsuna didn't know any better, he would've thought the latter was pouting.

Gokudera gets an elbow to the stomach when he mutters under his breath, "He'll never be able to protect Jyuudaime."

Yamamoto gives a short lived laugh, "You should drink some milk. You're edgy because you don't have enough calcium." Gokudera starts to choke Yamamoto before Ieyasu manages to separate them again.

Ieyasu, out of breath, barks, "Gokudera-kun, stop!" Gokudera stops but continually glares down Yamamoto, who simply doesn't even realize –or does and ignores it.

Instead, he squats down next to Reborn, "So is this your guys' triplet?" He asks, receiving incredulous looks and an instant retort from Gokudera, "Of course not! Has baseball rotted your brain?!"

In an effort to brush off Gokudera's outburst, Ieyasu shakes his head and Reborn smiles, "Ciaossu, I'm Reborn, an assassin from the Vongola family."

Yamamoto gives a hearty laugh, "Is that so? Forgive me! That's impressive, being an assassin so young!"

"Not really," Reborn replies, "You're going to join the Vongola family too."

"Wait a minute Reborn!" Ieyasu starts until Yamamoto gives him a wink and a bright smile, a reminiscent spark in his eyes, "Aw, don't be hard on him, he's just a kid. Remember when you played as a kid? Cops and robbers and everything?"

Ieyasu sneaks a glance back at Tsuna, giving a large desperate sigh. Reborn jumps in, "Ieyasu is the family's tenth generation boss."

There's a beat of silence, the comment hanging in the air, everyone is suddenly tense and Reborn is calculating every movement, every reaction.

"Ehh?" Yamamoto raises one eyebrow before leaning towards the ever quiet Tsuna and whispering, "Did you know about this, Tsuna?"

Tsuna glances up from the ground and his blank eyes make contact with Yamamoto's warm brown ones. He seems to be deciding something before giving a curt nod which sends his eyes sailing to the ground.

Something indescribable, but not unlike doubt, flashes across Yamamoto's face that only Reborn and Tsuna manage to catch, neither mentioning it. Then a happy smile appears and he slings an arm around Ieyasu's shoulders, making them both stumble and nearly fall over if not for a well-timed kick to Ieyasu's head by Reborn. He rubs the forming lump and Yamamoto gives a hearty laugh that causes him to give a tiny smile. "That's a pretty good choice you made!"

Ieyasu chokes on air and Gokudera sneers with great pride. "Of course it is!" he exclaims loudly.

A pregnant pause before Yamamoto stands, Reborn hopping on his shoulder. He straightens his back and becomes deadly serious. A smile creeps on his face.

"Okay, I got you. Then count me in…that Vongola family of yours."
