Chapter 9: Sectionals || Part 1
Author's Note: Yay, i updated! Well yes, I'm sorry again for not updating for months, but now, I'm making it up to y'all as i present the latest chapter! It might have not be the same as I planned it months ago, but it is still worth a shot! Thank you guys :)
Oh, and since the House of Hades just came out, I'll try to adapt the way Rick Riordan writes his POVs, haha.
- Kevin's POV -
Kevin woke up from the sound of his alarm clock.
In his first week in the fictional reality of Lima, he would have thrown his alarm clock as far as he can, or he would have fallen out of bed, spending a few minutes to reach Artie's wheelchair...
But no. He actually got used to it. He turned off his clock, sitted up, and reached for his wheelchair, ready for the usual. Normally it would take him around 30-45 minutes to get prepared to go out of his house, but as Artie, he needs to have a bit more of time allowance.
Almost an hour later he was about to shout "Mom, let's go!" as he thought she'll take him to school to meet up with the glee club. But he suddenly remembered that her mom was out of Ohio for the weekend. Crap.
He was about to wheel his wheelchair repeatedly on the wall until a loud car honk was heard outside his house. "Coming out yet, Four Eyes?" He looked out of the window and saw them. Harry Shum on Mike Chang's wheel and Mark Salling... Holding a megaphone that he probably stole from Sue Sylvester's office.
"Okay, Mister Badass!" Kevin shouted back as he wheeled his way to Mike's car. He was full of adrenaline. It is true that it's not his first time to perform in front of an audience, but performing in front of a fictional audience that thinks that you're a fictional character... Well that's another story.
-Cory's POV- (r.i.p. Cory :( )
Wildcard wildcard wildcard wildcard... It's the only word stuck in his head. Sitting down on the piano chair, he was so nervous of today's Wildcard Sectionals. He kept tapping his pen on the piano as he was waiting for the ND Members plus his castmates to arrive. The venue of the wildcard Sectionals round is going to be held at the place where the Sectionals last Season 1 was held. Well obvioualy that time that was just some theatre in California, but now they had to search for directions on how to get to the real venue.
Minutes later, everyone came filing in the room, students and alumni. Cory was feeling great that the alumni's parents allowed them to stay at Lima until the New Year, but he didn't mind them for a while and can't help relasing a yawn. And then all of a sudden someone patted him on the back. Hard. Very hard. Ow!
"Are we ready guys?" Mr Schue (Matt Morrisson, whatever) said. He looked at Cory and told him through his eyes "Sorry about the pat. Too excited myself."
Cory raised his shoulders and smiled and then all of a sudden there was a warm sensation that just got close to him. He looked at his left and saw Lea hugging him. Lea. He thought. Cory already thought of asking her hand on marriage. Probably when before Season 5 starts, before everyone gets busy once again... If we ever get back.
"You ready now? Finn?" That sweet voice said, although at the Finn part Lea was holding some laughter.
"Yes I am, Rachel." Cory said back.
"AYIEEEEEEE!" Darren and Chord said (shouted) in unison. Cory can't help laughing himself. Everyone else was laughing too, even Marley and the others.
"Do we really need time for this?" Kitty suddenly butted in, while laughing.
Naya suddenly appeared on center. "Wilde-e is right, Momo." Naya said, glancing at Cory.
Momo? What the heck is that?
"Okay everyone, gather up!" Matthew said at his best Mr. Schue mode. He's taking this seriously. "Let's now head to our bus! We might miss our last chance to be back-to-back National Champs!"
"YEAHHHHHHHH!" Everyone cheered. Cory can't help smiling. It's been a while since they Glee Cast has been too united to do something like this. It feels like a Glee Concert, in a whole different level. Plus they got fictional characters with them too. This is a whole new experiece, for him, the others and the special person holding his hand as they run out the choir room.
- Matthew's POV -
Good thing we arrived early, he thought. He still got the time to reflect, cheer up, and be nervous.
They were at the same room, that was just a set four years ago, where the ND was panicing on what to sing. Well technically Mr Schue wasn't there at that time, but at least he can feel the room...
"Earth to Mr. Schue..." Ryder suddenly said.
He suddenly fell to Earth from Dreamsville. Is Will Schuester like this? "Oh, I'm sorry."
"Carried away?" Jake Puckerman asked.
"Nah, probably just nervely excited." Samuel Larsen replied.
"Joe's right." Matthew said. "Well this is it... Your last chance to win Sectionals." His voice was kind of shaky. Then all of a sudden there was a pat on his back. Hard. Very hard. He didn't need to know that it was Cory.
"Don't be nervous guys! Win or lose, we're doing this for the team!" Cory said as Finn, looking at Marley, who sighed out of relief, as Jake puts his arm behind her shoulder, smiling.
"So guys, the usual?" Matthew said, smiling, as he reached out his right hand, the others follow, and raise them all up together.
"GO NEW DIRECTIONS!"
Several minutes later, he left the room and is now on the audience with Jane Lynch and the alumni cast members. Cory volunteered to stay backstage.
"I'm so excited!" Dianna said.
"I am excited alright!" Mark said too, as he is getting something out of his bag.
"Wait a minute..." Dianna said as he grabbed the object on Mark's hand. "Why the heck do you have Coach Sue's megaphone?"
"I don't know... I just got it." Mark replied as he tries to get the megaphone back.
"Come on..." Dianna rolled her eyes and raised the megaphone out of reach of Mark.
Jane, being sitted beside them, grabbed the megaphone and put it on Matthew's lap. "Cut it out, guys. the others can't see."
"But it is not even s-" Mark tried to argue but Dianna elbowed him.
"Shhhh" Dianna said, smiling.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, Good Morning!" A voice from the stage said, with his silhouette covered by the curtains. And as everyone applaused, the curtains opened to reveal his identity.
That guy... I think I saw him before...
"Welcome to the 2012 Midwest Sectionals Wildcard Round!" He said, and as he looked around the audience and as he caught a glimpse on Matthew, he winked.
This guy... Bryan Ryan. Will's childhood co-glee club rival-ish member.
Will Schuester is missing stuff. A lot. Matthew thought. I wonder where is the real him and the others, anyway?
- Darren's POV -
"So New Directions go first..." Darren said on backstage, retouching Blaine's hair with some hairgel. Cory shoulders him.
"Because they say that ND was the champ last year.." Cory said, and after looking around and not seeing the newbies in sight, he continued: "After this, we're soooo getting a break."
"What kind of break?" Kevin said, practicing his wheelchair skills.
Cory shrugs. "I don't know... To be honest, I wanna win this.."
"Who doesn't want to win, anyway?" Darren said.
Their conversation was interupted by the emcee outside.
"And now to perform first, let me welcome you to last year's National Champs, from William Mckinley High in Lima, Ohio. The New Directions!"
"Best of luck guys." Darren heard Cory say in a soft voice, as he went onstage.
Darren's POV continues in the next chapter :)
