"I will not be giving our daughter a Scottish name! She simply will not be able to go anywhere in life with one of those." Victoria's small, slightly upturned nose wrinkles at the very idea, "Jamie I know you want her to know where you are from but we simply cannot risk a Scottish name."

"I dinae understan' why!" Jamie sighs in frustration at his wife. "The bairn is Scottish no matter what her name is."

Victoria lays a pleading hand on his upper arm. "Jamie...it is just how things are. Heaven's knows Mama and Daddy would die all over again to know I had married you rather than someone they deemed respectable. I simply want her life to be easy."

With a grumble, Jamie presses a kiss to her forehead. "Can she have a wee bit o' Scot in her name?" He rests his hand on the small bump and his lips upturn into a smile. "Aye, and her life will be easy. I will nae let anyone hurt her...or you."

Victoria leans up, quite a task with her growing belly and cumbersome skirts, to chastely kiss Jamie. "That is why I loveā€”and married you, Jamie."
