The Race

A quiet night, where all is still

Madison with her camera is seen

Sakura tries to catch the card

But Dash quickly leaves the scene

It's just too fast, agile, and swift

For Sakura to catch with fry

She calls forth Windy to capture Dash

He breaks free and shoots in the sky

Dash makes a loud crash

A police will investigate

The woman called Madison clothes strange

It's good for a Mardi gras date

Kero says they can return

Dash cannot go far away

Sakura agrees and they soon leave

It's been a very long day

A girl comes out to the yard

And sees the injured Dash

She heals its broken leg

That it got from the crash

The next day, Sakura returns

In a baseball outfit

Using a ploy to get into the yard

But the girl returns the ball to her mitt

Sakura then sees her friend Jesse

Starting to run her race

She needs a fast time to qualify

But she loses to her disgrace

She tries again. A little later

Sakura sees a strange green glow

She runs her race, 20 seconds faster

That's her personal best you know

Kero says it's because of Dash

It's somehow giving its influence

They visit Jesse's house, but Sakura quickly leaves

While Kero has to refrain his patience

Dash is frightened and shaking with fear

Jesse says it'll be all right

It seems to sooth the small animal

Who snuggles up for the night

Jesse continues to run her best

She beats the highest school record

Mrs. McKenzie says she believes she can

She's winning on her own accord

Walking home Sakura is hesitant

She wants to wait 'till after the meet

Kero doesn't like this at all

Winning by Dash would be a defeat

At home, Sakura's dad mentions Jesse

Saying he saw her in the paper

A win could mean a great deal

He wishes the best for her

Sakura practices cheerleading

While Jesse begins to run

Li and Meilin are at school nearby

Li senses it after they're done

Meilin doesn't sense it

So he keeps it a secret

He says it's nothing, he hopes

But a card, he has to get

While passing by, the girls see Li

He has his lasenboard out

It points directly to Jesse's house

Of that, they have no doubt

Dash jumps high and Li sees him

While Sakura attempts to intervene

She gets there right as Li calls out

Making Dash evacuate the scene

Sakura tries to stop Li from catching Dash

But he uses his magic instead

It comes down and almost strikes

Poor Dash's little head

Dash runs towards Sakura

Who takes a step back

Kero convinces her to capture it

He shows her little slack

Finally Sakura brings out the key

And captures it as it comes

It flies to Li whose kind of upset

But to her pain, he does succumb

He hates to see her sad like that

She hangs her head down in shame

He sighs to himself and his shoulders fall

As Jesse calls "Hoppy's" name

The day of the race has finally come

Madison thinks she'll do great

As Jesse approaches the starting line

Her friend appears a bit late

At the end is her pal Hoppy

Who cheerfully wishes her luck

Sakura also sees and gives her cheer

And hopes that Jesse won't suck

The race begins and we see Li

In his smashing jean jacket

He calls back Dash, then watches the race

With Jesse, first place, she'll get

Sakura jumps for joy at that

Then sees Li leave in a hurry

She runs to him and gets him to stop

Because she has one worry

"Li? Did you just release the Dash card?"

"You saying Jesse won, cause of Dash's speed?

He denies it all, but doesn't point out

To believe in herself, was her only need

Sakura smiles and Li smiles back

And she watches him slowly walk away

She's thankful for what he did

"I love you," She'll say one day

Sakura returns to the race

And cheers little Jesse on

In her mind she thinks of Li

'Where could he have gone?'
