Chapter 16 - Epilogue

Disclaimer: I own nothing but the idea and plot for this story.

Katniss' POV:

Christmas passed, far too quickly for my liking, and before I knew it New Years' Eve rolled around. Peeta and I were planning on a simple, quiet night at our flat, until Finnick and Annie invited us over to ring in the new year. Of course we agreed; after all, this may be one of the last times we can be with them before the craze of the wedding settles in.

I glanced at the clock in my office, deciding that it was time for me to head out for the day. I gathered my coat, bag, and paperwork from my desk, slipping my phone into my pocket. I shut all of the lights off and locked the foot on my way out.

"I'll see you next week, Cinna!" I exclaimed, waving to him from outside of his office. He waved back before turning to the designs in front of him. Instead of walking to the front doors of the building, I took a right and went into he elevator. Once I reached Peeta's floor I quickly got out and made my way to his office.

"Knock-knock," I said, immediately entering. Peeta looked up and the grin on his face grew ten times.

"Hey, babe. How was work?" He asked slyly. I rolled my eyes. "You would know, considering you visited me about five times. 'Drank too much coffee.' There's a bathroom on your floor too!"

Peeta chuckled and shook his head, putting his drawings away in drawers and grabbing his jacket. "Maybe I just like seeing my girlfriend. Ever thought of that?" He walked over to me and wrapped an arm around my waist, pulling me in for a quick kiss.

"It's crossed my mind..."

After leaving, we headed straight home, needing to get ready for Finn and Annie's little party that night. I put on dark skinny jeans with a flowy cream top that Madge had said would compliment my skin tone nicely. I found some cream heels from a get together forever ago, and paired it all with a matching bracelet and necklace.

"You ready, Peet?" I called out, slipping on my coat at the front door. He emerged from the bedroom seconds later, clad in dark wash jeans and the gray sweater I got him for Christmas.

"I told you! You look good in it," I said, pressing a kiss on his cheek.

"You don't look half bad yourself," Peeta told me, winking in my direction before heading out of the flat.

We arrived at the party just in time, when we were only waiting on a few people to show up still. Finnick greeted us at the front door. "Hey guys! Glad you could make it!" He and Peeta embraced in the typical "guy hug" while he pulled me in for a bear hug after.

Peeta and I branched away for a bit, milling around, occasionally chatting with a few of our friends, picking at the assortment of food in the kitchen. It was only ten o'clock, and everyone was off in their own groups, talking amongst themselves. I was standing in Finnick and Annie's den, gazing out the large bay windows they had, Peeta's arm around my waist as he stood behind me.

"You know," He bent down to whisper in my ear. "Nobody is paying any attention to us right now." Then he dropped his voice an octave. "Let's get out of here." Peeta grabbed my hand and led me out of the den, through the kitchen, down the hall, and around a corner. He stopped in front of a door and opened it to reveal a laundry room. My eyes widened.

"Peeta! I can't do anything in the laundry room of our friend's house!" He put a finger up to my lips.

"Shhh. Nobody has to know. Besides, the sound of the dryer will drown everything else out. It's not like we'll be having sex... I just wanted some alone time with my girlfriend. Is that so much to ask?"

I blushed. This was such a stupid idea. But I couldn't help myself. The look Peeta was giving me caused me to cave. "Alright, fine." I pushed open the door and pulled Peeta inside the small room with me, shutting and locking ourselves in here.

"Now where were we?" He whispered, pinning me against the washing machine and capturing my lips in a searing kiss.

I don't know how long we were in that tiny room. It seemed like days could've passed. Peeta checked his watch once we finally pulled away from each other. "It's been almost an hour..." I immediately burst out laughing.

"Oh God... They must be wondering where we are. What do we tell them?"

Peeta chuckled at me. "It's fine. They probably didn't even notice. We'll just walk back out and say we were in the back room or something." I nodded, letting out a breath. I grabbed his hand in mine and led him out of the tiny laundry room.

"Hey, guys! Where did you go? It's almost midnight," Finnick called from the den. On the TV was a countdown to midnight, to the new year. There was only 15 seconds left.

"Uhh... We got caught up with some other guests. But we're back now! So I recommend you go find your fiancée before the new year arrives." Peeta told Finnick, nudging him with his elbow. Finnick shot me a wink before dashing off in the other direction.

"TEN!"

Everyone started counting down.

"NINE!"

Couples started to pair off with their significant others.

"EIGHT!"

The seconds ticked away faster than I expected.

"SEVEN!"

I dragged Peeta over to the center of the room

"SIX!"

People grabbed little tubes filled with confetti, ready to fire them off.

"FIVE!"

Peeta wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me closer to him.

"FOUR!"

I smiled, putting my arms around his neck.

"THREE!"

His head began to turn and slowly became closer with mine.

"TWO!"

I met him halfway. I could feel his breath hitting my lips and cheeks.

"ONE!"

My lips met Peeta's in a passionate yet caring kiss full of everything we've grown to feel or each other over the past couple of months. Cheers erupted around us and confetti floated down to the ground. It was simply magical.

"Happy New Year, Katniss," Peeta whispered in my ear once we pulled away.

I smiled, leaning my forehead against his. "Happy New Year, Peeta."

I honestly could not wait to see what this year had in store for not only me, but Peeta and I.

The End.

Thank you so much for reading! I decided to end this story here, and my other Everlark stories will be ending shortly as well. I'm sorry, but I've lost a bit of interest in them. But... I have good news! I will be starting new fanfictions based on Percabeth (Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase) and YouTubers (Jack and Finn Harries, Danisnotonire, Amazingphil, Caspar Lee, etc.) So make sure you look for those!

Also, I have started a YouTube channel! I have two videos up and it would mean so much to me if you could go and watch both of them, like them, share them, and subscribe! Here's the link to my new video! watch?v=Six9iO6DVKk

Once again, thank you for reading A Foreign Love. I really enjoyed writing it and I hope you guys liked reading! This is not the end of me, I promise you. :)

(also, someone asked for my tumblr which is .com ^.^)
