Chapter 1

As I drifted, I was wondering...hoping... dreaming. Yet at the same time, I despaired...wanting to stop thinking...and to keep a firm grip on reality. I knew that if I wondered too much about the possible outcomes, hoping to delude myself or dreaming that this was not reality, I would lose my mind. I knew that this wasn't just a bad dream. I knew that I would not wake up any second and find myself back in the girls' dormitory. This was reality...and I absolutely knew that the bodies in front of me were dead...my parents were dead.

I was numb all over as I sat and stared at them, reliving my life with them...just staring and thinking, all while I kept a rational mind on me. I just have to remember that my parents were dead and there wasn't a thing to do about it. Thus, my grieving began.

*KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK*

"Hermione, open the door... Hermione!"

"WHAT!?" I snarled at the door. I love Harry, I truly do, but this was pushing it. I just wanted to be alone, was that too much to ask for?

"Just open the door, please" he sighed. Apparently it was.

With a grumble, I forced myself up and dragged myself to the door. It wasn't fair. He knew I wasn't able to resist it when he begged. Damn him. I ripped open the door, wincing as the sunlight smacked me right in the face after living like a bat for who knows how many days.

Harry looked at me, but instead of the pitying stare I expected him to have, like everyone else, he had a look of understanding. My glare softened up just a bit before I jerked back around and walked back into my room, leaving the door open for him to come in. I sat on the bed and went back to staring at the wall in front of me, only stopping to glance at Harry when he let a chuckle escape his lips at the sight of the telephone in the hotel room.

"Really 'Mione?"

"What? Those bloody people and reporters alike just kept calling, so I unplugged it." I grumbled.

"But did you have to destroy the telephone as well?" even though I wasn't looking at him I could tell his eyebrow was raised.

"I'll make sure to pay for it." I mumbled, a little embarrassed.

He sat right next to me, the bed creaking at the extra weight, which wasn't much. Harry was just as skinny as I was, if not more. All those months on the run were brutal with only limited resources. It wasn't like we were able to eat a full course meal every night. Sometimes we weren't even able to eat, and the effect was astounding.

The silence rang across the room as we sat there and I could tell that Harry was struggling for something to say. It went on for a few minutes until he breathed out a deep long sigh.

"I understand." he said and the room went back to the same uncomfortable silence. I took a deep breath.

"I know." I whispered. Of course he understood, he knows how it feels to not have any parents and be the only one. He knew my pain. It was quiet for a while until he began to speak again.

"It's the last day for you to pack up anything from the house before they take everything and put it up for sale with the house." he spoke quickly, effectively ripping off the band aid, rather than easing it off.

Hermione suddenly disapperated with a loud crack.

Harry gave a loud frustrated sigh before throwing himself back onto the bed.

"Damn. I knew I should've listened to Ginny and ease her into it." With that he got up, mentally and physically preparing himself to go and make sure no one lost anything important. Just as he was about to apparate he stopped for a second or two. Just enough time for them to regret threatening her in the first place. He gave an evil looking smile and disapperated with a crack.

"You don't need to keep watching me you guys, I'm not going back there." I told them as they stared at me. "You guys overreact too much."

"Hermione, it took me, Harry, and Ginny to pull you away from the bloke's neck!" Ron exclaimed. I just huffed and turned away from them.

"Harry, Ginny, and I." I muttered. Ron rolled his eyes. With another huff I stood up and suddenly they all jumped up.

"Oi, just forget about them, they're just a bunch of-"

"Calm down 'Mione, I'm sure they feel awfully bad about it-"

"As much as I want to throttle them myself, I'm sure the next time they see us we won't get away with just security this time, I mean-"

They all started talking over each other meaning to calm her down, but they just seemed to annoy her more. Her eye gave a twitch.

*BOOM*

The three stopped talking immediately, staring at the spot where the vase full of flowers had suddenly blown up.

"Blimey 'Mione," Ron said aghast. "You okay?"

I let out a dark chuckle.

"Does it look like I'm okay?" I asked with a grim smile. As they look at me with downcast expressions my fists clenched. This was just what I wanted to avoid.

"Leave." I stated in a way that held no place for any arguments. They all just sat there staring at me in shock until I changed my mind and walked to the door of my hotel room, opening it.

"I was getting up to tell you all that I was going to my… parent's house to pack everything up. They're only giving me till tonight because of the stunt I pulled, so I need to get going. Just be sure to lock up when you leave. "I said, closing the door and leaving them sitting on the bed in complete silence.

"Damn, we're arses."Ginny groaned.

As I stood there I stared at the door to the home I had spent my whole life in...just staring...remembering. Suddenly I felt numb. I forced my hands to not tremble as I reached for the handle and turned it while pushing forward, but for once I didn't hear my parents welcoming me back home.

The house was eerily silent as I went around shrinking everything and putting it into my trusty beaded bag until I heard the unmistakable shrill of the home phone.

RING RING RING

With uncontrollable curiosity I picked up the phone and brought it to my ear.

"Hello?"

"Hello, who is this? I'm looking for Dan Granger." I noticed that the person was a male, but also how the person must have known my father from the way they called him Dan rather than his full name, Daniel. I grew suspicious. As far as I knew, no one was very close to my parents and I besides...

"Uncle Gordon?" Silence rang across the line.

"HERMIONE!" the sudden squeal was so loud and high pitched I jerked the phone away from my ear to keep them from falling off.

"IT'S BEEN SO LONG-OH HOW I'VE MISSED YOU-HAVEN'T SEEN YOU SINCE YOU WERE A BABY-" is all I heard as I kept the phone as far away from my ear as possible while keeping a hold of the phone in my hand. After ten minutes of me trying to get my uncle to stop talking I snapped.

"UNCLE!" I yelled and the inhuman screeching that was filling the room ceased.

"Yes dear?!" he sang.

"Shut up." I growled.

"*gasp*Hermione! Such language." he whimpered.

I gave a long exasperated sigh. It's been a long time since I've had to deal with my uncle. I've gotten rusty.

"Why are you calling?" I asked. Last time he conversed with my father they had a screaming match over the phone just before I started my first year of Hogwarts, what about has always been a mystery my dad never told me no matter how many times I asked.

"Oh, just wanting to know when your parents are sending you over here." he said happily.

...

"What?" I asked, shocked. "Why?"

"You know why." He accused.

When he was only met with silence be sighed.

"Come on NeeNee, I'm a single man with no children that runs the leading company of medical supplies for various other companies in the medical field. You're a smart one, think about it."

I only vaguely heard the voice in the back of my mind telling me to tell my uncle off for calling me NeeNee even though I've told him countless times not to, but I brushed it aside. I was too busy thinking as I pieced together the puzzle. Suddenly I gave a gasp in both shock and realization and I could hear my uncle breathe out in amusement.

"You can't be serious." I said in disbelief.

"I am. Why else would I beg and plead your father every year to take you over here for proper training rather than those little lessons I taught you myself when you were young?" I remembered their shouting at each other through the phone before my first year in Hogwarts.

"But the last time you guys talked was when I was eleven." I stated.

"Ahh, but that's not true. The only reason you never heard the other times is because he didn't want you overhearing us again. So, he said whenever I called, it had to be while you were away at Hogwarts," I froze on the spot, wondering if I had heard my uncle right. "It was quite the shock to hear that my niece was a full blown witch." The minute he uttered that last word I broke out of my stupor.

"How do you know about that?" I spoke harshly to cover my nervousness.

"Hmm? Oh, that, your father told me of course. Right after he finally agreed to let me turn you into the perfect heir," I could feel it building up inside me, threatening to spill out.

"Let me?" I chuckled darkly. I heard an audible gulp on the other end of the line.

"That's funny cause I don't remember hearing about this... Nor have I ever given my consent." I was smiling as if in amusement, though I was anything BUT amused.

"W-W-Well, y-y-y-You s-s-see... I... It's a... Very important matter." as dignified in his answer he tried to sound, all he came to sound like is a pitiful child that was caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

I gave a deep sigh to keep my temper in check.

"Forget it uncle, goodbye."

"But... NeeNee, I'm-" his words were efficiently cut off with the click of the button, the dial tone filling the silence in the room. If only it could fill the thoughts in my head. Especially how I thought of how I had yet to tell my uncle of my parent's death...of his brother's death. I thought about it and decided that it was best that he remain ignorant of it. Like they say, ignorance is bliss.

I sighed and turned to disapparate, having finished packing everything up, only to find that I couldn't. I turned my head to the phone. After what felt like hours of staring, I gave it a glare that should have set it on fire had it not been for the fact that it was needed for one last reason.

Quickly, I searched through the history on the home phone and copied it with the spare parchment and quill I always carried with me. Deciding the home phone could be somewhat of a present for the next people who will live in this house, I didn't go through with blasting it to smithereens.

So, with a flick of my wrist, the parchment and quill retreated back into my beaded bag and finally, I was able to spin on the spot and disappear from the house with one last goodbye to another place I held so dear.

Hey guys! Like I said in my last AN I am so sorry for neglecting this for so long! Things happened, my great grandmother that I just loved so much past away last year, and all that other stuff that I mentioned last time. Took a toll on me and I was so stressed, not to mention I was at my neck with school. I will do better this time I swear!

Especially since I got a wonderful Beta Evani! My very first Beta reader! However, I still need more Beta readers. The way I want it to work is once I get done writing a chapter, I will first give it to Evani to check, then once she is done, it will be passed along the line of Beta readers, order based on who asks first and all that. Well, that just proves I have no idea what to do about that. Haha. I mean, come on, the order is basically first come first serve. Haha. I'm sorry guys, I really am trying. So, if you are interested in Beta reading for this story, please PM me.

Also, I plan on the chapters for this story to be bigger… like, a LOT bigger. So if you don't mind reviewing monster chapters, please PM me. I'd feel really bad if I made Evani review them all by herself.

Okay, now that that is done I'd also like to tell you guys that since I plan on making big chapters, it will take me a while. I estimate about 2-3 weeks a chapter. I shouldn't go over that because, I have an amazing Beta reader, once again, Evani who checks in on how much I've done and it reminds me to write. She is doing a great job and she is the reason why this chapter got up today. School has made it so hard to write, but it can be done it appears. Haha.

The results for the poll that I had done sometime in February like... long time ago, is here too! And the winner is... KYOYA OOTORI! Sorry if I spelled it wrong, I will definitely have that fixed in the story when I write it. So... yeah. Haha.

Before I end it here and you guys wait for like 2-3 weeks for the next chapter, I would like to just say that you guys are awesome for putting up with me. Even when on the details for the story says I haven't updated for who knows how long, people still followed just in case and it just means a lot. You guys are the main reason I didn't give up and decided to try again, and I plan to finish this story and my other one. Thank You All.
