Kyandi: Greeting Kyandiac!
Hisame: We're sorry its taken so long to get an chapter up.
Kyandi: I've been trying to work my way through all of my stories and update.
Hisame: So far, she's managing.
Kyandi: Yep. Also, this chapter is a little on the shorter side.
Hisame: She's mostly using it to set up for the next chapters.
Kyandi: Exactly. So, even though it's short, please enjoy and review!
Hisame: Kyandi-sama does not own Prince of Tennis.
Chapter 25 Consequences
The next day, Hisame woke up just as Yagyuu thought she would. When she finally came to, there was a pounding headache between her ears that had her groaning as she pressed a hand to her face. As she registered the light trying its hardest to slip past her closed lids, Naniko buried herself further under the blankets, hiding her face from the sunlight spilling into the room.
It was as she was rubbing her temples in a fierce attempt to rid herself of some of the pounding in her head, that she finally noticed the different scent that clung to the sheets. Opening her eyes, she found herself staring down at a set of white sheets that didn't match the purple ones she kept on her own bed, or the blue ones that Niou had on his bed.
Though her head insisted she stay laying down, Niou pushed herself up, folding back to the blanket. Groaning as the light once more hit her eyes, Hisame forced herself to focus, looking around the room. It was a room she had never seen before. It was neatly organized, a little on the bland and serious side, and was definitely, without a doubt, not hers or Niou's rooms. It only frustrated her further when she couldn't remember what had happened the night before after hearing Yagyuu's announcement about breaking up with his fiance.
Reaching up to run a hand through her hair, Hisame became aware of the fact that she wasn't wearing her clothes anymore. Instead of wearing the dress she had worn the night before, Hisame found herself draped only in a white button down shirt, far too big to be anything she owned.
Had she gone home with someone other than Niou?
Hisame was just starting to panic over that thought, when the door to the bedroom opened. She quickly yanked the sheets up, covering herself as best she could, her eyes swinging around to face the door. Her eyes grew wide when the person that walked through the door, with a glass of water and bottle of pills in one hand...was Yagyuu.
"Y-Yagyuu-senpai?"
Yagyuu looked, finding Hisame wide awake and staring at him like she had just seen a ghost. She had the sheets pressed tightly to the front of herself, probably embarrassed at her current state of dress. Stepping further into the room, Yagyuu headed for the bed, sitting the glass of water and pill bottle on the nightstand.
"I'm glad to see you awake, Hisa-chan. You must have a headache." he told her, shaking two small pills out of the bottle and into his palm. "Here, take this."
Hisame, though, only spared the pills a glance before she focused in on his face once more.
"Yagyuu-senpai...what happened?" she asked.
Seeing that she wasn't going to take the pills until he explained to her what was going on, Yagyuu sat the pills on the nightstand and took a seat on a stool sitting beside the bed.
"You don't remember what happened last night?" he asked.
"Everything is kind of fuzzy." she admitted.
"What was the last thing you remember, Hisa-chan?" he asked.
"You announcing to all us that you had broken things off with your fiance. Everything after that is really fuzzy. I let Suzumi give me too many drinks."
"Yes, well, she can be quite...assertive when she wants others to do something." Yagyuu agreed, trying to be polite without out right calling their friend pushy.
"That she is." Hisame agreed. "I didn't end up passed out, naked, in the middle of street, did I?"
The look Yagyuu gave her, had her flushing because she could just imagine what went through his head when she asked that. Clearing his throat, Yagyuu decided to just ask her the question in his head.
"Has that happened before?"
"No! Not to me. Amai's done it before, several times. I've never drank like that before, so I had no idea what kind of drunk I would be." Hisame explained.
"I see. To answer your question, no, you did not." Yagyuu, who had already gone over what he thought would be best to tell her, adjusted his glasses and carried on. "Niou-kun, it seems, was waiting for you to drink one too many. I found him in the bathroom with you, and he admitted to taking advantage of you the last year and a half. You were unconscious at the moment, so I brought you home with me since I could not find your keys. It was quite an...event, getting you into bed. You refused to let go of my neck. I am sorry to say...I could not find your underwear."
Whatever reaction Yagyuu had been expecting from Hisame, it was not what he got. Almost instantly, Hisame lifted the blanket and all he saw was the blanket shifting and then he heard a squeaky gasp before Hisame lowered the blanket just enough to peak over it at him, her face obviously going red. He could practically see her processing everything he said, her face getting redder and redder until she finally became so mortified, she buried her face in the blanket
Had she been a character in some kind of anime, there would have been a puff of smoke bursting forth from her head.
Yagyuu grew concerned when Hisame didn't move from that spot. Worried she had fainted or something, Yagyuu spoke.
"Hisa-chan?"
"I'm so sorry..."
Yagyuu raised an eyebrow when her apology reached his ears. Slowly, she shifted her head until she was peeking up at him.
"What are you sorry for?" he asked.
"I swear, I'm not usually like this. I don't usually get drunk like that, and-"
"Hisa-chan, it's alright. I understand." Hisame completely raised her face then, surprise taking over her expression. Getting up from his seat, Yagyuu approached the bed, taking a seat next to Hisame. She was even further shocked when he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a hug. "What Niou-kun did to you, was unforgivable. I am sorry you have to suffer through that."
Once again, Hisame couldn't work through her complex feelings. At the beginning, she would have agreed with Yagyuu, but now...now that she knew the kind of person Niou was, she wasn't entirely sure how she felt about it all. She decided to sit the thoughts aside, for the moment, in favor of something else that popped into her head.
"Yagyuu-senpai...We didn't...I mean...we didn't sleep to-together...did we?" Hisame was sure she had never had to ask such a difficult question before. "B-because...I no longer have any protection. There was a recall on my IUD which is why I've been trying harder than usual to avoid Niou."
For a moment, there was no answer from Yagyuu, as if the man was carefully weighing his answer. Finally, she felt him heave a sigh before he took hold of her shoulders and held her way from him, his eyes meeting her from behind his glasses.
"I am very sorry, Hisa-chan. Whatever happens, I will take responsibility." Yagyuu told her.
"W-wait, you mean..."
Yagyuu gave her a nod and Hisame swore her face couldn't get any redder than hit was. In fact, she was so sure her head was about to over heat that she wondered if she would faint. This was not how she had wanted to go about things with Yagyuu. Of course, all of that was over shadowed by the possibility that she could now be pregnant. Almost as soon as that word flashed through her head, a noise that Yagyuu could only call a squeak, left Hisame, and she buried her face in the blanket once more.
"Oh gods..." was all that left her.
"It will be alright, Hisa-chan. I promise, I will take care of you. Child or not." he assured her, pulling her back into a hug.
While she felt comforted, knowing that Yagyuu cared enough to take care of her, regardless of whether she was pregnant or not, her thoughts were still a mess. She couldn't properly digest any of the information before her. Not the fact that she'd had unprotected sex with Yagyuu, nor the fact that Niou had actually told him about the bet, making himself out to be the bad guy, or the fact that she might be pregnant.
Life had just hit the fan and she didn't know how to deal with it.
She did know one thing...she was not looking forward to taking a pregnancy test.

For the rest of the day, Yagyuu pampered Hisame, despite her insisting that she was fine. He also insisted that she, at least, switch from calling him Yagyuu-senpai, to calling him Hiroshi-senpai. It took a little bit to adjust, but she managed it. Once her headache had subsided, and she felt better, Yagyuu had approached the conversation of what to do about their relationship. He insisted that, after the previous night, they start a romantic relationship.
It was everything she had hoped for, since falling for Yagyuu and, therefore, falling for Niou's plan. Despite that, she felt confused. Hoping to dispel those thoughts, and hoping that her feelings for Yagyuu were still the same, Hisame agreed. With that out of the way, Yagyuu and Hisame agreed that they would figure out what to do after finding out if she was, or was not, pregnant. After deciding that, Yagyuu made sure Hisame got home, and insisted she stay away from Niou.
It was then that Hisame revealed that she had accepted the offer to attend Niou's college. When asked why, Hisame, with a face blood red in embarrassment again, admitted that, upon realizing that she would never have a chance with him, due to him having a fiance at the time, Hisame had decided to focus on school, and she couldn't do that if she was around him. Hence why she chose Niou's college over Yagyuu's.
Understanding the logic behind her choice, Yagyuu simply told her that they would figure it out and sent her into her house to rest.
Hisame decided not to tell her sister about what happened. Amai was too excitable and if she thought Hisame might be pregnant, Hisame was sure she would wake up the next morning to baby supplies filling their house.
Not exactly what Hisame wanted at the moment.
A little research later, and Hisame found out that she could, reasonably, take a pregnancy test in just two weeks. After talking with Yagyuu, they decided to wait a month and than have Hisame go to her doctor for one, rather than take a home test. They also decided not to say anything to their friends about their relationship, until they knew for sure.
In the meantime, Hisame started her classes at school. Yagyuu took her to school everyday, and picked her up, making sure she made it without running into Niou. As far as Niou was concerned, Hisame saw him, in passing, a few times at school, but almost every time she saw him, he was either surrounded by his group of friends, or had spotted her first and immediately turned to walk in the opposite direction.
Hisame didn't know what to make of it, but she didn't have time to stop and figure it out. Between her concerns about her possible status as a soon-to-be mother and her course work load, Hisame didn't have the time to dwell on it. At three weeks, Hisame made a doctor's appointment with her doctor for the following week. Yagyuu offered to go with her, but since it would take a few days to get the results, Hisame insisted he didn't have to.
If she turned out to be pregnant, there would be plenty of other doctor's appointments for him to go to with her.
After the doctor's appointment, Hisame couldn't sit still, her phone practically glued to her hand. On the third day after the appointment, Hisame got the call from her doctor. She wasn't quite sure how to feel about the results, but she grabbed her bag and headed out the door to go see Yagyuu. His apartment, thankfully, wasn't that far from her house and she made it there just as Yagyuu was getting home from a trip to the book store.
"Hisa-chan?" he called upon seeing her.
"I got the results."
That was all Yagyuu needed to hear before he was ushering up the steps to his apartment building. It was only once they were inside, and he had served her something to drink, that he sat down beside her on the couch.
"What did the doctor say?" he asked.
Hisame fiddled with her finger, unable to look up from her lap. Even preparing herself for either a yes or a no, she still didn't know how to put into words what she was feeling, let alone the answer to the test. Only Yagyuu's hand appearing in the line of her sight, coming to rest on her hands, stopped her fidgeting and had her looking up at him.
There, in the fear and uncertainty shining brightly in her eyes, he could see the answer for himself. He tightened his grip on hands. He needed to hear her say it, to confirm, for sure, what he saw in her eyes.
"Hisame...what was the results?"
Hisame swallowed the lump in her throat, and took a breath before she answered him.
"I'm pregnant."
Yagyuu carefully pulled Hisame closer, wrapping her up in his arms. It was easy to see that she was terrified of the idea of being a mother, unsure how she would juggle everything on top of raising a child. She was not ready, and he couldn't blame her.
"I'm sorry, Hisa-chan." he told her lowly.
While Hisame simply thought he was sorry for being partly at fault for her currently situation, that wasn't why Yagyuu was apologizing. Though he decided against telling her the reason behind his apology, he apologized anyway. Not because she was pregnancy, but because he had basically lied to Hisame, and because of that lied, he wasn't sorry about the pregnancy for one reason and one reason only.
The baby wasn't his.
END
Kyandi: How's that for a twist.
Hisame: What's a twist.
Kyandi: Nothing! *lowers voice* I'm not letting Hisame see that last line.
Hisame: What are you saying?
Kyandi: Oh, nothing, nothing!
Hisame: Uh-huh...why do I get the feeling that you're lying to me?
Kyandi: I wouldn't know.
Hisame: Sure.
Kyandi: Anyway! Everyone, please enjoy and review.
Hisame: We'll be back as soon as possible.
Kyandi: Bye-bye!
