Ninja Love

Chapter 10

April 5th, 1581

"You..."

Drew narrowed his eyes. "You idiot!"

The hand holding his long sword flicked up, flinging the other man's weapon to the side. The man raised his hands in a surrendering position, a grin still on his face.

"Whoa, hold it, I wasn't actually gonna hurt you," he reassured as he eyed the sword. He pulled off his hood, letting his spiky brown hair spring out. "It's just me."

"I know," the green-haired ninja spat. "I can't believe myself, how did I not notice it was you two sooner?" All he got was a chuckle in reply.

I came out from behind Drew, who was looking very unhappy with himself. Wondering what two people he was talking about, I looked around. I thought there was only one person, and that was this guy in front of us.

All of a sudden, there was a bright flash of light, and there was a giggling girl, also dressed in black, sitting where the nunchucks once were. She stood up and strode over to where the rest of us were, her long brown locks swishing behind her.

"You should have seen you're faces! Oh my Mew, that was hilarious!" she snickered, and held her hand up to her partner. Smirking, he smacked his hand against hers in a high five. The woman looked at me, her forest green eyes shining. "We're sorry we scared you, Princess, but we just had to take the opportunity," she apologized with a slight bow. The man beside her nodded in agreement.

"Oh, it's fine, there's no need to apologize," I said, waving my hand nonchalantly. I felt like I was being too polite. She smiled.

"So no apologies for me?" Drew questioned. " I see how it-" he abruptly stopped speaking when the girl looked at him with a dangerous glint in her eyes.

I leaned over towards Drew and whispered in his ear, "Who are these people? I presume you know them?" I asked, making sure they couldn't hear what I was saying, for that would be pretty offensive.

"You mean you don't remember them?" he inquired, giving me an incredulous look. I glanced at the two others, who were having a quiet conversation of their own, and shook my head. Then, it came to me. Back at my village...

"Oh! They're from earlier! Um...Leaf and Gary! That's their names," I said triumphantly, glad that I knew them. The green-haired man beside me nodded.

"I thought you should have known them. Took you a while to remember though. What's going on in there?" he teased as he rapped my skull in a knocking motion. I slapped his hand away.

"You be quiet." He smirked.

"Hey, Princess, it's been a long time since I've last seen you," Gary suddenly spoke up, giving me a grin. "How have you been doing with Drewy over here?" He slung his arm around the grasshead's shoulders, raising his eyebrows suggestively. Leaf quickly slapped a hand over her mouth in an attempt to stop laughing, but to no avail.

Drew gave both of them a look and shrugged the limb off of him. "We've been doing just dandy. I've found that January over here is a klutz," he said before I could answer. I shot him a glare.

"Hey!" I protested. "My name is May!" I didn't even bother to deny I wasn't a klutz. I crossed my arms, mouth forming into a pout. He simply flicked his hair and waved me off. Leaf stood in front of us, watching us with a strange smile. It was kind of creepy, like she knew something.

"Is there something going on between you two that I should know of?" she asked, a smug look on her face. I stared at her blankly while Drew suddenly grinned.

"What about you and Gary? I bet something's happened between you," he retorted with an equally smug look. The girl flushed slightly and, without saying a word, walked up to the teasing ninja, and flicked him on the forehead. "Ow..." The victim touched the spot where he was attacked tenderly. "You have really long nails, you know that?"

"It's not like I can cut them!" Leaf exclaimed. "How would I do that?" She looked at her nails defensively. Gary decided it was his time to start speaking.

"Bite them! Thats what I do," the brunet next to her inputted. He then proceeded to show his companion his nails. Her expression was very amusing.

"And have them look like that crap? No way! I'd rather keep them nice and smooth like this," she said and stroked the tip or her nail, showing Gary. He raised a brow.

"But it'll hurt your finger if you break them during a fight..."

Drew and I sweatdropped. "They talk about the strangest things sometimes..." he watched the two ninjas as the got more and more aggressive in their talk. Well, more like Leaf getting more aggressive. Gary seemed to have the upper hand in their argument, as he smirked down at her.

"I wonder if they realize that we're still here," I sighed.

"Looks like we'll be staying with you for the night," announced Gary, taking notice of the slowly darkening sky.

"Fine by me," Drew agreed. He flicked his hair and glanced to Leaf and I.

"Don't worry, we'll leave in the morning if you really want to," Leaf said, "We wouldn't want to disturb you two..." Her lips were still shaped in that slightly creepy knowing grin.

"You're still on that?" I inquired, pouting. "Nothing is going on between us!"

"For once, February's right," the cabbage head agreed. "I'm way out of her league anyway."

"Hmph. See? He's too egotistical for his own good, I wouldn't like anyone like that."

"Sounds exactly like a certain someone I know..." the brunette looked pointedly at the spiky-haired male in front of her.

He didn't have to turn around to know that it was directed at him. "Yeah, and you're more sassy than what's humanely possible," he called over his shoulder.

"Because I am the sass master," she shot back. He chuckled before slowing down to the same pace we were all walking at. I have no idea why he was ahead of us in the first place, but he's Gary. Don't question him.

"Over there," Drew nodded to a spot big enough for all four of us to stop for the night. "That's good enough, right?"

"Yeah, more or less. Let's go!" I grabbed Leaf's hand and skipped over to the area. Behind me, I heard Gary mumble something about just catching up to us, and Drew laughing at him.
