Hey everyone, second update in three days! Feel free to thank me with a review ;) Hope you enjoy!
James Potter POV
Professor Wolfson continued his lesson. Firstly, he reviewed content from previous years, asking people what identified Werewolves from a common wolf, at what point they transformed and how Werewolves behaved. He asked the class how the invention of the Wolfsbane potion could affect what they knew about Werewolves?
Harry raised his hand and Professor Wolfson quickly called on him, "they won't go after humans, sir. Because they will still have their human minds."
Professor Wolfson grinned "correct! Isn't it marvellous."
James really wasn't sure what to make of this new Professor. On the one hand, this was an excellent lesson about Werewolves and he noticed that even Remus was starting to sit up straighter in his chair, paying rapt attention to everything the Professor was saying. He wasn't taking notes, he seemed almost frozen in place. But James was sure he wouldn't forget this in a hurry. However, it was strange that the whole thing seemed to excite the Professor so much. He lept around gesturing enthusiastically. It was almost as if the news had some kind of personal effect on him. Perhaps he was a werewolf, James mused.
"Now! What do we think is the best defence against werewolves?" Professor Wolfson asked.
A particularly nasty Slytherin called Mulciber called out, "shoot the beasts with a silver bullet."
James heard Sirius snarl at the laughing group of Slytherins and he felt his own temper boiling.
Professor Wolfson's mouth tightened into a line, "absolutely not! Ten points from Slytherin. I'm surprised you are so taken in by a muggle myth, Mr-" The professor raised an eyebrow almost as if he was challenging the student not to respond.
"Mulciber." The boy spat, glaring at Professor Wolfson.
"Okay, Muciber, it seems I must educate you on your mistake. Silver does not have any increased effect on werewolves so that would just be a waste of a very expensive material. Powdered silver and dittany, when mixed, can close a werewolf bite but that's the closest the relation between silver and werewolves goes. Now perhaps someone can give me a more sensible response?" Professor Wolfson picked James next.
James did think that the boy would be far from the first person to come to mind when he thought of someone sensible. He supposed lots of people would say the same about him.
"I think that by making the Wolfsbane potion more affordable and increasing werewolf rights the ministry would be able to decrease the threat they posed, by like a lot. Because they wouldn't be poor and in pain all the time so they'd be less likely to be mad at wizards. You know, because we wouldn't be making their lives harder anymore." James said passionately.
Professor Wolfson smiled, "As an overarching way of preventing werewolf and wizard violence I do think that could work rather well! Have 5 points for Gryffindor."
The rest of the lesson continued in a similar fashion. Professor Wolfson punished anyone who said anything discriminatory about werewolves and went through the correct ways to defend yourself against them. Also, he went through the different ways werewolves not using the Wolfsbane potion could ease their transition, James was surprised when he mentioned animal companions as it wasn't something professors normally mentioned.
At the end of the lesson the Marauders went off to the shrieking shack which had become a hangout for the group over the years. The furniture was old and battered, claw marks and teeth marks visible on lots of the wood and shredded soft furnishings littering the ground. James pulled out a bag of every flavour beans and offered them round.
"That was strange. Don't you guys think?" Sirius began, his eyebrows furrowed.
James agreed, it was a little odd but then again lots of things about the time traveler's didn't seem quite right. "It was a bit, strange he'd mention that animagi could ease a werewolf friend's transition. I'm pretty sure there aren't many people crazy enough to try that."
Sirius continued "He was so passionate about werewolf rights as well! You don't get that much. He kept glancing over at Moony as well."
Remus shifted uncomfortably, "I think the time travellers were lying, I think they do know me. Professor Wolfson looked right at me when he talked about the Wolfsbane potion."
"Are you sure you weren't imagining it Moony?" asked Sirius.
"No I'm sure," Remus looked up for the first time since they'd begun the conversation, "James and Fred offering to take your places for the detention, as well. Then believing your excuses so readily. I mean they can't be stupid enough to think that four wizards are needed to take care of one badly behaved rabbit."
Sirius sniggered and Remus glared at him. "Oh come on Moony, it is a little funny."
Remus sighed and continued, "Also, whenever someone says Potter, I've noticed that Harry, Albus, James and even sometimes Lily all look up. They've never once forgotten any of our names. They're definitely hiding a lot from us."
James suddenly had a realisation, "Lily and James? You don't think…" He couldn't quite believe it, saying it out loud seemed crazy. But then he thought about Harry and Albus' eyes. "That's where I've seen them before!" He exclaimed, jumping up.
Sirius looked at him as if he was going insane. "You alright there Jamie?"
"Lily's eyes! Albus and Harry have Lily's eyes."
"What are you on about Prongs?" Wormtail asked blankly. Whilst Remus' eyes widened in realisation.
"He's just constantly got Evans on the brain, whilst we'd love to hear another sermon on how beautiful Evans eyes are-" Sirius began swooning over dramatically.
James whacked him on the back of the head. "No, idiot. Harry and Albus look just like me but they have Lily's eyes. I'm sure of it! I knew I'd seen them before."
"I guess if anyone would recognise them it would be you!" Sirius rolled his eyes, James knew he preferred to keep his options open with many girls in all the houses claiming his affections.
Then it suddenly came to James in order to have Lily's eyes and his, well, everything else, He and Lily would have had to… He felt his heart begin to race and his eyes widened. He even thought he felt a bit dizzy, "Guys! I have sex with Lily Evans! At least twice." He dropped on to a battered chair, gazing dreamily into the distance.
"Well, that is how babies are made, Prongsie." Sirius rolled his eyes looking at the dazed James. "I think he's broken Moony. Who knew, even the thought of doing it with Evans was enough to make him finally crack?"
The Marauders laughed.
Hey so I've had a review asking about how Neville, Fred and George appeared in this story and tbh whilst I know I must have had some kind of idea where I was going with it when I was younger, I kind of think their presence is a bit unessecary at this point so I'm thinking of cutting them out. Does anyone have any thoughts on that?
Please give me a review, I really appreciate them!
