No relation to the song Last Friday Night. And I don't own anything. :)
Chris had invited Darren over to study on a Friday night.
Bad idea.
Look at him, he thought. Look at his eyelashes fanning out over his cheeks as he looks down at his stupid French book with his brow furrowed and his lips mouthing the words. Stop it, Darren. Stop moving your lips, you bastard.
Chris let out a frustrated sigh and put his head down in the Algebra 2 textbook he had in his lap.
Darren looked up from his book at Chris with an amused smile. "Need help?"
Chris lifted his head back up and cleared his throat. "Oh, no, I think I've got it now." He blushed.
"Okay. Hey, are you sure you're okay, man? You've been kind of, I don't know…off, lately."
"Yeah, yeah, I'm okay. Just tired, I guess." Chris nodded, approving of his lie.
"Okay." Darren looked back down at his book for a few minutes before taking it off his lap and scooting a little closer to Chris. "Hey, Chris, I kind of wanted to tell you something."
Chris looked at Darren. "Anything."
"Well, um…I just wanted to tell you that I, uh…"
Chris half-smiled, looking a bit concerned. "It's okay, Darren. You can tell me."
"Yeah, yeah, I know, it's just, um, it's kind of something that's been on my mind and I just don't know how you'll take it."
"Darren, don't worry. I'm here for you, no matter what, okay?" Chris laid his hand on Darren's.
Darren nodded slowly. "Yeah, okay." He took a deep breath. "Chris, I… I'm gay."
Chris stared at Darren in utter shock for what must have been a good three or four minutes.
"Chris, man? Are you okay?"
Chris snapped out of his trance. "Yeah, I'm okay. I just…never could've expected that."
Chris shook his head in disbelief. Darren was…gay? Darren was gay? Darren? Darren…was gay. Darren was gay. Darren was gay!
"Darren, I am too," Chris finally confessed. "And I never planned on telling you this but I really, really like you. I like the way that you're so nice to me and how you help me and how I can never figure out what color your eyes are and how you're so genuine with everything you do and how you love music and aren't afraid to be yourself and-"
Chris's words got cut off by Darren pressing his lips against his. The kiss was slow and gentle but took both of their breath away.
Darren cupped Chris's cheek. "I really like you too."
