It had been quite some time since everything had happened….

I know you'll stay strong, after all, that's what a gentleman does…

Many faces and names had come and gone throughout his life, but this one just wouldn't leave his mind.

Claire, wait…

It had been ten long years since they parted and had taken him a long time to get his emotions back into balance, but this turn in events was just so unexpected.

He had learned of a few things after the incident. Time Travel. Although he now knew that it was possible, the Professor wasn't about to attempt time travel after what had happened to Claire. He had also stumbled across a rare art the few knew or remembered in his day and age. Alchemy.

Once his apprentice had departed, Layton spent a majority of his time studying and practicing alchemy. It took him a few years to master, and once Flora had grown and departed to live a life of her own, the Professor was ready and knew what he had to do.

A gentleman never keeps a lady waiting

Clearing away most of the furniture, he pulled out a fresh box of chalk and began to draw. It was a rather large transmutation circle, but that's just what he needed to perform this level of alchemy. He had been warned about human transmutations once before, but since he had never heard of anyone trying such alchemy, he decided to try it himself.

Every puzzle has an answer

He sat up, ready to to be reunited with his lost love. Taking a deep breath, he placed his hands on the edge of the circle, and watched his mixture in the center.

He felt the energy pulsing through his hands as the circle began to glow a bright yellow. Suddenly it began to darken and the pulse of energy felt wrong. Something wasn't right. The mixture in the center continued to form. thin arm-like structures appeared out of no where and reached out for him.

"Something isn't quite right, that did I do wrong?" he thought.

He tried to stop the process but it was too late. A bright white formed all around him and he was surrounded by nothingness. He took a sharp breath as he heard the sound of a door opening, and turned to face it. The Gate of Truth.

Claire?
