Oppertunity for the sick
.
.
"You're sick. Again? How is that even possible?"
"uh.. with Talent?" Percy grins at Annabeth and shuffles into his pillows. With his black hair sticking up in wild spikes, making him look all the more adorable.
"I'm sure," Annabeth's the only person who Percy knows of who's unaffected by his antics.
"…."
"How're you feeling?" she finally says and zips open her backpack while she waits for his answer.
"Like a bus ran me over… Twice," he answers in all seriousness, but grins after a second, "I'm kidding… I'm okay". Which just HAD to be followed up by a coughing-session, he ducked his head into his covers until most of it passed and he was just left huffing and puffing. It was more annoying than painful… if he ignored the fact that it feels like he's got a permanent corset on (or, he guesses that THIS was how wearing a corset feels like… like a bear trap on your lungs).
"Oh yeah? You look like Mrs. O'Leary used you as a chew-toy," Annabeth laughs and drags out a small box from her backpack.
"That's a possibility…" he yawns tiredly and rubs his eyes.
"That's a fact."
"So… what's in the box?" Percy says, finally noticing the box she's holding on her hands, he's kinda worried that he hadn't noticed it at all before. He pitches forward a moment later an coughs heavily, shakily. He hates being sick.
"Are you okay?" her hands are hovering inches away from him, as if she's afraid she might break him if she touches him.
"Y-yeah," he says, mentally frowning at himself for thinking that he was just playing sick… since.. well.. early this morning he did feel pretty good, and not at all like last night when he almost coughed up a lung and woke up the entire Hermes cabin.
The Athena demi-god stares inquisitively at him for a moment, noting the dark circles under his eyes and his extremely pale skin. "…so… uh, Your mom sent you these…" she pops open the lid and holds out the box filled to the lid with blue-coloured blue-berry muffins.
Percy grins, 'Mom went all out with this one' he thinks with a smile at their tradition with cerulean coloured food.
Annabeth picks up a muffin and holds it to his lips, "She worries a lot about you…" she says and suddenly takes a bite of the very same muffin, "It's a good thing I'm taking care of you then, huh?"
It's probably the first time in a year that Percy's speechless.
"Is there anything I can get you?" she says grins as if she'd just beaten him in sword fighting.
"… just, sit with me?" he knows it's a low-blow to make his voice sound all squeaky, but he doesn't really care at the moment. It's a trick he's pulled on his mom before, which always made her cave… but he really doesn't expect it to work on his best friend.
But it does. "Don't get used to this," she snaps and suddenly tosses open the blanket and shuffles in next to him.
"I won't," Percy quickly states, his face flushing beetred.
his thoughts drift to something that's been tugging on his thoughts for months now…
Aphrodite said she's make his romantic department difficult.
Percy doesn't say anything though when Annabeth finally rests her head on his shoulder and her breathing evens out along with his…
But, isn't the challenge what makes it so great?
The girl next to him smiles with her eyes still closed when he kisses her forehead.
… Aphrodite didn't mention it would be this easy either.
