Hey guys, I'm back! I know it's been close to a year since I updated but things have been beyond crazy and I lost all motivation for a while...a long while I admit, but I've come back to finish this story! We're getting pretty close to the end, I reckon maybe 2 or 3 more chapters left!

I really hope I haven't lost you guys, you mean the world to me and I hope the majority of you who have favoured and alerted will come back for this chapter! It's a bit filler and plot heavy, but hey, better than nothing right? I'm hoping to have this finished by the 11th of November as it will mark the 3 year anniversary of this story so the next few chapter will be up pretty soon!

Again I'm sorry you've had to wait for so long but I'm back now so don't hate me too much! It's shorter than usual, but that's cause I knew I needed to get something out to you, hopefully it's good enough!

Anyway on with Chapter 40

Cursed Immortal

We had no idea just how long it would take for these threats to arrive here in Mystic Falls. There was no guarantee that they'd arrive at the same time and tear each other to shreds first before coming after me and my friends. The first threat seemed to be Deucalion, the super powerful Alpha werewolf that had been harassing Scott's pack in Beacon Hills. Since Deucalion and his pack of Alphas up and left the fight half way through, it was safe to say they'd be pretty close to the town by now.

"So, this is gonna be hell on Earth," Stiles said, breaking the silence we'd fallen into with a clap of his hands.

"Yes, precisely," Castiel replied, nodding towards the young boy. "Lucifer has risen to Earth from Hell, so yes, it is literally Hell on Earth,"

"I didn't mean it in the literal sense, but now that you point it out…" Stiles trailed off.

"Look," I started, turning towards the kids in question. "No one is asking you to stay. You guys are only kids and you've already fought against one of these guys. You don't have to fight against three in a row," I finished.

Hey, no way!" Stiles protested. "We're not turning back now!"

"Like you said," Scott added. "We've already fought against this guy, we've got a good chance to beat him,"

"Right, because we were definitely winning the fight before we came here," the blonde I had learned was named Isaac, scoffed.

"You kids were failing at beating this dude?" Damon asked. "Yeah, you guys are really important here,"

"Hey!" Stiles yelled, obviously offended by the vampire's statement. "We got three werewolves, a very skilled hunter, and a Banshee. We got this dude,"

"Don't dude me, kid. I'm over ten times your age," Damon replied, rolling his eyes.

"The Winchesters are here," Castiel said, pulling everyone out of the conversation between Damon and Stiles. "I'll bring them," He nodded too me and disappeared leaving only the sound of feathers behind him.

"How the hell did he do that?" Scott asked.

"He's an angel," I shrugged. "Long story," I added when Scott looked at me incredulously.

"I'm starting to see your life is just one long story," Scott nodded.

"Oh sweetie, you have no idea," I snorted.

"So who are the Winchesters?" Caroline asked.

"Brothers, hunters. They're damn good at their jobs. Been hunting since they were kids," I explained.

"Brothers? Hot brothers?" Caroline asked, wiggling her eyebrows in suggestion.

"Caroline, these guys aren't supernatural. They're gonna age. May I remind you that you won't? Sorry, but you're not compatible," I replied.

"Well, a) I don't need to think long term, do I?" Caroline stated winking at me. "And b) you never answered my question. Are they hot?" She repeated. I looked over at Kol who raised his eyebrow in question, a smirk playing on his lips.

"Sure, yeah, they're both very attractive, can't fault them. But I got an immortal Adonis so I'm set for life," I replied, matching my boyfriend's smirk and seeing him nod his head in agreement. I scoffed at his modesty and rolled my eyes.

"Only 'very attractive' Alex? Not Godly or breath-taking?" Dean's very familiar voice asked from behind me. I turned towards the door to see Castiel and the Winchesters standing there.

"Godly definitely fits," Caroline muttered, ogling the two newcomers.

"Thank you guys for coming, you didn't have to," I said, ignoring Caroline's comment.

"Oh come on, Alex. You've helped is out a whole bunch of times. You're basically our sister at this point, it's the least we could do," Sam smiled at me. I grinned back at him and nodded to the brothers.

"So, Cas here tells me we've got werewolves, vampires, some kind of weapon, magical dudes, and also Lucifer after you cute little ass," Dean said, listing each 'big bad' off on his fingers. "Have I missed anything?"

"Nope you got them all, that's pretty much it, yeah," I sighed.

"Great. Well that's just great," Dean sighed. "You know what, Sammy? I didn't get enough of Lucifer the last time we fought him. Can't wait to see that scallywag again," He continued, voice dripping with sarcasm.

"Yeah, you might not have gotten enough of him, but I certainly did," Sam scoffed.

"What are the chances we can just talk these guys out of killing us and stealing your baby?" The teenager with long brown hair asked. She was with Scott. The skilled hunter that was part of their group named Allison. There was a few scoffs around the room and everyone turned to look at the brunette.

"You know, Allison," Her strawberry blonde haired friend whispered. "Maybe it would be a good idea to think before you speak,"

"Thanks for that, Lydia," Allison whispered back, shrinking backwards into the corner.

"I have a feeling that these guys aren't gonna want to sit and talk over a cup of coffee," Stefan piped up.

"No, but it would make everything a hell of a lot easier if finding a table to seat all of us was our biggest worry," I agreed.

"I can think of a couple of things that could help alleviate your stress," Kol spoke up for the time that night. He winked and made his way over to me.

"You know there's a time and a place for your libido, Kol," Elijah scolded, glaring slightly at his younger sibling.

"No time like the present," Kol replied, hugging me from behind and resting his head on mine.

"As much as I'd enjoy that, Kol. I think we should focus on creating a plan," I decided, ignoring the pull in my stomach that agreed with Kol. Sex sounded great right about now but I had to worry about our massive problem that would not be going away anytime soon.

"A plan? You think there's a way to prepare for this?" Damon asked scathingly.

"Well it's not like we can read an instruction manual or anything on this," I rebuffed. "But we can train, talk strategy, plan or something."

"I don't know if there's anything we can do to prepare for the damn devil," Jeremy dismissed.

"He's not the devil, just an angel," Sam clarified.

"What like him?" Scott asked, pointing towards the trench coat clad celestial being.

"Well, a much more evil version and a lot more powerful, but yeah, an angel like Cas," I answered the tan skinned werewolf.

"You guys are gonna be useful, right?" Damon questioned the young werewolf. "I mean, not being able to shift unless it's a full moon you're still strong, right?"

"We can still shift, full moon or not," Derek spoke up, breaking his silently and deadly façade.

"Really? That is very interesting," Klaus said, looking at the wolf like he was a new toy.

"Klaus, you're not turning these guys into hybrids, they're off limits," I scolded the Original hybrid.

"We don't need to be hybrids, we're already too awesome," Isaac stated proudly.

"Hmm…sure," Klaus drawled.

"Speaking of hybrids, where is Tyler?" I asked Caroline and Klaus, hoping one of them would know the answer.

"He's off somewhere trying to break his sire bond to Klaus here," Caroline answered, glaring at the Original.

"Oh, he'll be at that for quite a while," Klaus smirked. "I happen to be very entrancing,"

"Oh sure you are, brother," Rebekah sighed, rolling her eyes at her older brother's antics.

"What can you tell us about Deucalion? How well do you know him?" I asked Scott, drawing everyone's attention back to me.

"We weren't best friends or anything but he's smart. Very into psychological warfare but he won't have the time for that if those other guys are coming here too," Scott explained.

"But he doesn't know about the other people that are coming, right?" I questioned the young werewolf.

"Not that I know of, unless he heard something on the way here."

"That's good," Elijah nodded. "If he doesn't know there are others coming, he might not be prepared for a full on attack. We might be able to ambush him and take him down before he even realises we're there," He suggested.

"Is this a plan I see forming?" Stiles asked.

"It's the beginning of a plan," Elijah clarified.

"Well it's better than anything else we've got," I sighed.

"So, what? We wait until this werewolf guy arrives and then take him on?" Damon asked.

"You said that is was a pack of Alpha's you were fighting, right?" Rebekah asked. "How many?"

"It's only Deucalion now," Derek replied. "We killed his accomplices Ennis and Kali. The twins Ethan and Aiden split like the cowards they are."

"You really thought Alex couldn't handle one werewolf when you saw her come back to life after an explosion?" Kol scoffed.

"Well…we just…we thought…" Stiles stuttered.

"They thought they were helping, Kol. Lay off. We're much better off now that we know what's coming," I said, smiling gently at the young boy. "If we didn't know he was after me, there's every chance he could have caught me off guard and taken me out."

"Let's not think about that, shall we?" Rebekah cringed. "I've lost you one too many times already."

"Don't worry, Beks. With all you lot around, I'm beyond safe," I grinned.

"I don't know about the undead here, but Sammy and I just drove a hell of a long way and are still human," Dean spoke up, clapping his hands and rubbing them together. "Sammy needs to get his beauty sleep," He smacked his brother on the shoulder and smiled mockingly at the taller hunter.

"We have quite a few spare rooms that the people who need sleep can use," Elijah said, gesturing to the staircase.

"I can show you to your room," Rebekah winked at the two hunters.

"Rebekah, down girl," Kol teased.

"Oh please, you were about to take Alex on the floor a few minutes ago," Rebekah scoffed, rolling her eyes at her elder brother.

"No, we're going to head upstairs to my bedroom and I'll take her there. Wouldn't want to hurt my dear Alex's back," Kol smirked, grabbing my hand and pulling me towards the staircase.

"We'll figure the rest out tomorrow guys!" I shouted behind me as Kol led me out the room.

"Yeah, yeah," Damon shouted after me. "If this big bad comes while you're off having sex, don't blame me when he slaughters all of us."

As I found myself curled up in a ball beside the toilet the next morning, I was forced to remember I was growing a person inside me at an alarmingly fast rate. They really didn't lie about morning sickness being a one of the worst parts of pregnancy.

"Why do you have to be such a pain, huh?" I asked the child inside of me, thinking they could hear.

"Alex?" Kol's voice drifted through the bathroom door. "Are you alright in there?"

"Just bringing up my entire digestive system and all my organs too," I shrugged in response, even though he couldn't see me. I heaved myself off the floor and quickly washed up, trying to look reasonably alive.

"Well, aren't you a sight for sore eyes," Kol beamed with a wicked smirk as I opened the bathroom door.

"And aren't you a lying asshole," I rebuffed, pushing past him to grab my dressing gown.

"Oh, how your words would me, my dearest," Kol mocked, pulling me towards him by the hips. His large hands spinning me around in his grasp and capturing my lips with his.

"I thought we were meant to be taking things slow," I murmured against his lips. He sighed and pulled away slightly.

"I know that's what you said, but I don't know how to do slow, Alex. All I know is what I want, and all I want is you. In any and every way I can. I don't usually feel things, I don't do emotions, but with you…It's like I'm on a whole other level. When I'm with you, I don't feel like a monster, I feel alive. I don't want to be undead again."

He didn't need to say anything else, I'd heard all I needed to hear. All I wanted was him too, who cares if we're moving fast. Who cares if we haven't known each other for very long? Sometimes when it feels right, you just have to go with it. I've found that the universe usually knows better than you anyway, why not trust it when it's giving you something you want?

I pulled him back in for another kiss, thinking this one could lead to more pleasant things but was interrupted by Rebekah's sweet voice coming from the doorway.

"I heard you all the way from my room," She said, waltzing into the room Kol and I shared and plopping onto our bed. Kol groaned against my lips and reluctantly broke our kiss, glaring at his younger sister.

"Care to explain why you're in our room, sister?" Kol asked, a growl of annoyance clear in his voice.

"I wanted to make sure everything was alright," She shrugged, the knowing grin on her face proved that she knew what we were doing and interrupted anyway. "What was that noise?"

"Morning sickness," I sighed. "I think the lifeform inside me wanted to remind me that they were still there Maybe they were feeling ignored," I supplied, burrowing further into Kol's chest. He placed his head on the top of mine and sighed.

"It's more of a hindrance than a help, isn't it?" He asked.

"They are going to be yours to raise. Try not to hate them already," I scolded my boyfriend, looking up and glaring at him.

"If you let Kol raise your child, they'll be a killer at age 3," Rebekah scoffed.

"I was thinking around age 1, actually. Before they can talk, after the can walk. There's nothing more sinister and downright terrifying than a babbling, incoherent baby killer," He smirked.

"There will be no violence in front of the baby," I warned. "Not until they're at least 2 years old. Any and all violent behaviour will be taught by the destroyer herself. A.K.A me," I added, nodding.

"Fine, fine. What do I know? I'm just the father," Kol said, rolling his eyes and holding his hands up in surrender.

"The idea of being a dad is really growing on you, isn't it?" I asked, smiling up at the man who had really gotten to grips with the fact I was pregnant and it wasn't going away.

"It has its perks. Plus, it'll only be for 18 years, then they're off to college and out of our hair. I've been on this planet for over a thousand years. 18 more is nothing," Kol smiled down at me.

"But will the baby be human?" Rebekah asked.

"What do you mean? Of course it'll be human," I answered, squinting my eyes in confusion at the youngest original.

"Think about it. You're a demon, Kol's a vampire. Even if the baby isn't his, it's still not going to be human. You said so yourself, the reason these 'big bads' are coming is to get the immortality your child possesses. So it's going to be immortal. Will it age and stop? Will it be a baby forever? Will it come out already fully developed? I can't believe you haven't thought about these questions," Rebekah finished.

She had brought up a few very good points. I had no idea how this baby would come out and what would happen after it did. Did I even want to know? Of course I did. This was my child here. There had to be some answers somewhere.

"I think I'll see if the Winchesters and Cas are up. Sam was doing a lot of research on this when I first found out and Cas is one person who'll probably know something, if anything," I told the siblings.

"Are you sure you're feeling better?" Kol asked, looking down at me in concern.

"I'm fine, Kol. Don't worry. This is totally normal," I replied, standing on my tip toes to peck his lips gently. Picking up a set of clothes, I stepped into the bathroom to get ready for the day.

I found Sam sitting at the island in the kitchen, munching on some toast, with his laptop in front of him. I waltzed past him, plucking his half eaten slice of toasted, buttery goodness and taking a bite for myself.

"You're up pretty early," I said to the hunter, mouth full of bread. He sent me a playful glare, one you'd give your kid sister who was annoying you but not in a bad way.

"I could say the same for you. Thought you'd be sleeping in late. You must be tired from last night, no?" Sam grinned at me, picking up the second slice of toast he made and eating half of it in one bite.

"You heard that?" I asked warily, my face heating up, cheeks becoming as red as tomatoes.

"No, I'm just teasing you, didn't hear a thing," Sam replied, shaking his head and smiling at the glare I shot him.

"That's not very nice, Sam," I scolded good-naturedly.

"Never said it was," Sam said. "So, I'm guessing there's a reason you've come down to steal my breakfast."

"Can't I just want to talk to my favourite hunter?" I asked, acting offended at his statement.

"Don't let Dean hear you say that. He's under the assumption that he's you're favourite hunter," Sam warned.

"Then he can never know the truth," I winked, joining in on the joke.

"So, what's up?"

"I'm just curious," I started.

"About what?"

"My baby. The person who's growing inside me and kindly reminded me of that fact for 2 hours this morning," I answered. His confused stare made me elaborate. "Morning sickness."

"Eugh," Sam shuddered. No one likes throwing up in the first place, but doing it for two hours because you were growing a lifeform inside you was not pleasant. I thought children were meant to be gifts. If morning sickness was my present, I was definitely on the naughty list.

"Tell me about it," I shivered, the taste returning to my mouth from the memory. I took another bite of toast. "The thing is, we don't know what this baby is going to come out like."

"Come again?" Sam asked.

"Well, it's meant to be immortal, right? That's why everyone is after it. For the immortality it possesses. So, does that mean it'll come out a baby and stay a baby forever? Or will it be all Benjamin Button style and come out old and then decrease? Or will I be pushing a fully grown human out of me, because I really don't want to be ripped apart and there's only so much kegel exercises can do."

"I've just got images in my head that I never wanted," Sam muttered, closing his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose, possibly in an effort to rid the images from his mind.

"Yeah, you're not the only one," I agreed, eyes wide as I tried not to imagine a fully grown human splitting me in half in an effort to get out of me.

"So, what do you want me to do about this?" Sam asked.

"Well, you were all up in the research about me when we first found out about my condition. I thought maybe, you'd know what would happen? Or at least, know somewhere to start looking for information."

"I'm not sure, Alex. All the information I discovered about you was who you were, legends and tales of your destructive force and powers. There was a little about your physiology though. The fact that your body died then came back to life. In everything I looked at there was nothing about you ever getting pregnant. Most likely because it's never happened before, so no one has written about it. If there's any information on the topic, you won't find it in any book. I'm sorry," Sam replied.

"I was hoping you weren't going to say that," I sighed. "It's alright though, I appreciate the fact you actually took the time to do so research. Knowing there's nothing written down about this makes it easier to narrow down places I can search for information."

"Where are you going to look?"

"I'm gonna start with Cas. He might know something, or, at least where to find some answers."

"Well, you'd be better off calling for him. I don't think he stayed in the manor last night," Sam said.

"Thanks, Sam," I said to the young man, patting him on the shoulder as I left the room, wanting to go outside to call for Cas.

As I stepped into the back garden of the Original's manor I looked up to the sky, whispering quietly to the angel.

"Hey, Cas, thought you'd be sticking around a bit more but I hope you'll get this message. I need answers. I need to know what's going to happen. I need to know how things are going to work out,"

"I'm sorry, Alex. I don't know," Cas replied, the fluttering of his wings fading into the distance as he appeared in front of me.

"Isn't there anyone you can ask?" I wondered, basically pleading at this point. I had to know how this baby was going to come out. It would be the only way to protect it.

"The only person who might know anything is your boss. Only you have contact with him," Cas offered. I didn't really want to talk to Death right now. If I'm being honest, he probably wouldn't be too happy with the knowledge of me being pregnant. That is if he didn't already know.

"I don't think he'd be all that happy with me if I told him," I sighed.

"Why? It wasn't your fault. You didn't cause this to happen, it happened to you. I think it's the only way to get the answers you're looking for," Castiel replied.

"I guess I can only hope that he'll understand. None of this was meant to happen. I wasn't meant to settle down with a family. I shouldn't be pregnant. I'm the Destroyer, not a house mom."

"You don't need to be a house mother. You only need to be true to yourself, Alex."

"Jeez, Cas. Could you be any cheesier?"

"I don't understand. I am a celestial being in human form. I cannot be 'cheesy'," Cas, stuttered, confused at my term.

"It's…it's just…like…nevermind Cas. Just leave it," I smiled warmly at the angel.

"Anything else I can do for you, Alex?"

"I'm alright Cas. Just gotta have a word with my boss," I said, moving deeper into the mansion's garden to get more privacy.

I sat, cross-legged under an old oak tree situated right in the middle of the garden. Closing my eyes I inhaled deeply and exhaled in a calming manner. I had to connect to Death and I could usually only do that while I was dead, but I wasn't putting my child in jeopardy for a chat.

"Are you there, boss? I kind of need to speak with you," I asked into the air, hoping he would answer.

"I do not have the answers you seek, my dear," Death's deep, chilling voice rang out in my head. His icy cold presence in my mind sent shivers down my spine, freezing me in place.

"How do you know?"

"It would be foolish of you to think I do not know what is happening in your life, Alex. I keep a very close eye on you."

"That's not creepy at all," I muttered.

"Hush, child. I do not have the answers you want, I have never seen this happen before. It shouldn't have happened at all."

"Well, it has, and I'd like to know where I stand. What's going to happen? That stuff."

"I do not know, Alex."

"Could you at least hazard a guess? Help me from freaking out so much."

"I do not do 'guess work' it is not part of my job. I cannot lie to ease your piece of mind."

"I didn't ask you to lie, just to hint."

"I do not hint either."

"You don't help, you mean," I scoffed.

"I help you more than you know, Alex. You must be brave. There is worse to come."

"Yeah, three bad guys, all with a bunch of help and power. I know there's worse to come."

"But you don't understand. You have a curse. You must embrace it."

"I have a curse? Like a proper voodoo hoodoo, 'I curse you', witch type curse?"

"A curse."

"Well, what's my curse?"

"Death is your curse."

"Death is my curse? What does that mean?"

"Death is your curse. You must embrace your curse to break your curse."

"How? How do I break it?"

"When you break it. I will be there. Until then, you must live with your curse."

"But what is it?" I asked into the sky. "Death? Are you there?" I listened closely but it was obvious he was gone. I huffed and opened my eyes, blinking back the pain from the bright sun.

"Alex? You out here?" Stefan called from the mansion. "We're going over the plan."

"Just coming," I shouted back, standing up and dusting myself off. 'Death is my curse'. What the hell was that about?

We had all regrouped after a night of rest, ready to start on our plan for Deucalion's arrival. We managed to fit all of us in the Original's spacious kitchen so those that needed to eat could.

"So, we decided on an ambush last night, before we all went to bed," Elijah said, starting the conversation.

"But how are we going to ambush the werewolf?" Elena asked. "He's like a super werewolf right? Won't he be able to sense us?"

"He'll be able to sense the ones with heartbeats," Elijah clarified. "The pack from Beacon Hills, the hunters, Jeremy, and our resident witch here would be the ones he could sense," He said gesturing each person as he listed them off.

"Why don't we plan an ambush with those he can sense?" Jeremy asked.

"Then he'd know we were setting a trap for him," Damon said, annoyance creeping onto his dark features as he tried to deal with the youngest Gilbert.

"No, hear me out. Why don't we all hide but when he gloats, saying he can hear our heartbeats or whatever, we come out, but the vampires stay hidden. If he can't sense you guys, you could be our second ambush. You know, get him twice," Jeremy explained.

"Will he be able to smell vampires? Do they give off a smell?" Lydia asked, looking towards the oldest vampires in existence for answers.

"No, he won't be able to smell us," Elijah answered.

"Unlike wolves, we don't have a distinctive smell," Kol added. "To clarify, we don't smell like wet dog."

"Watch your mouth, fanger," Derek hissed, offended at being told he smelt like a wet dog.

"Down, Fido," Kol smirked towards the werewolf. Derek growled and took a step forward.

"Derek, no," Scott warned, placing a hand on the older wolf's chest and halting his movements. "He's far more powerful that you, it's not worth it."

"I'd listen to your owner, Lassie," Kol added.

"Kol, enough," Elijah reprimanded. "We're meant to be working together here, not insulting each other."

"But when it's this easy, how can I refuse?" Kol half whined, smirk still plastered on his handsome face.

"So how are we going to set this up then?" Stefan asked, eager to get back to planning.

"Well, I guess we hide around Alex when she goes to face him," Stiles shrugged.

"We're offering Alex up as bait?" Rebekah asked, shocked that they would be willing to do that to a pregnant woman.

"We don't really have any other choice. He's coming here for her. She's the one who he needs to see," Stiles rebuffed.

"Have we all forgotten that Alex is pregnant? This could endanger the child," Rebekah said to the group.

"The whole reason we're all gathered together is because Alex is pregnant," Sam piped up. "Unfortunately, we have to put her in danger in order to keep her safe."

"Don't you think we should ask the person who's going to be used as bait for her opinion?" Kol asked with a glare, looking over to his mate.

"Alex?" Rebekah asked.

"Hmm?" I asked, stuck in my thoughts. What Death had said had been swirling around in my head. I had no clue what it meant and no clue how to break the curse.

"These guys want to use you as bait, love," Klaus explained.

"Is that right?" I asked, not really listening, still lost in my thoughts.

"And you're okay with this?" Dean asked sceptically. Nearly everyone could tell there was something off with the way I was acting but I was too distracted to care.

"Mmhmm," I murmured in agreement.

"Are you okay, Alex?" Elena asked, making her way over to me. The second she placed a hand on my shoulder I jolted out of my thoughts.

"What? Yeah, sure. I'm fine," I nodded at my twin. She gave me a disbelieving look but left it there. She knew if I wanted to talk about it I would, but since I didn't even know what to say, I couldn't really talk about it.

"You don't seem fine," Klaus said, looking me up and down.

"I'm great. And I'll be your bait," I smiled at the hybrid. "Hey, that rhymed," I pointed out.

"Okay then," Elijah continued, still glancing at me, trying to figure out if I was lying or not. I smiled him and chanced a peek at Kol. The look on his face clearly said that he didn't believe me so I turned back to the group. "We wait for Deucalion to show up, let Alex go to him, with those who he can sense hiding nearby. When he calls those out, those who are dead will stay in hiding until he tries to attack. Then we all take him out."

"I don't think it'll take all of us, if I'm honest," Caroline shrugged.

"If you don't want to come, you don't have to. It might make it easier with less people. Less chance to screw up." Damon shrugged.

"Great, looks like we got a plan," I said, turning everyone's attention on me. "I need to go somewhere so I'll let you know if I see Deucalion anywhere."

"Hold on, Alex," Elijah said, stopping as I turned to the door. "We all came together to protect you. If you go outside on your own, he could take you out."

"I just need to make a phone call," I said.

"And why can't you make it here?" Damon asked, obviously not amused at the fact I wanted to leave.

"Calm down guys, I'm just going outside. I'm not going far, I just need to figure some stuff out."

"Again, that's why we all came together. To help you figure things out," Klaus added.

"This is something I need to do on my own. Before I bring you all into it."

"We're already in it, Alex. You don't need to hide anything from us," Elena urged.

"I know, but this is something I'm doing alone," I said, my tone final.

"Whatever," Damon sighed. "I need a drink," He said, leaving the room and unofficially ending our little meeting.

"I'll be outside," I said, leaving the kitchen.

I had resumed my place in front of the oak tree, this time I had Henry's book of fairy tales on my lap and my phone in hand. I waited as the phone rang, hoping he would pick up.

"Hello?" A man's voice came from the phone's speaker.

"Jefferson?" I asked.

"Speaking. Who's this?"

"It's Alex Gilbert, I bumped into you a few days ago."

"Oh hey, good to know you managed to get out of Storybrooke okay," He said and I could hear the smile in his voice.

"Yeah, I probably should have let you know Rumple lowered the force field," I agreed, cringing slightly.

"Well, I kind of guessed when you didn't show up back at my house again."

"Yeah, look I need a favour," I said, cutting to the chase.

"Of course you do. Couldn't just call for a casual chat?" He drawled.

"You know me, I'm all business. I actually need to talk to Henry. Unless you know anything about curses?"

"I know a few things, but it depends on the type of curse. Is it a spell? A prophecy? What kind of curse?"

"I'm not sure. All I know is that Death is my curse."

"Death is your curse?"

"Yeah, that's what I was told."

"That's horrible. Who would say that?"

"My boss."

"Well, your boss is an asshole."

"My boss is Death. Like the Grim Reaper guy. That's my boss."

"Well, I take it all back then. Great guy, your boss."

"Eh, he's alright," I smiled, absentmindedly flipping through the pages of Henry's book.

"So, he told you that Death is your curse?"

"Yeah, but I wanted to know what it meant. I thought Henry might know something, or at least be able to ask his mom. The Evil Queen must know a thing or two about curses, right?"

"Well, yeah, but maybe it's simpler. Maybe it's your curse because you are his right hand man. You serve him, right? Maybe it's your curse because Death himself is your curse."

"I guess that makes sense, but why would he tell me that?"

"I think you may already know the answer to that," Jefferson said.

"Is he trying to remind me? Because I know. I've always known my job."

"He might think you've forgotten. At least, that's my take on it. You want me to get Henry?"

"No, I think you've helped plenty. Thanks Jefferson."

"Don't be a stranger, Alex. I happen to be pretty good at solving riddles and such."

"I'll try not to. Thanks again," I said, hanging up the phone.

Was Death trying to remind me of my duties to him, because I got pregnant? What was he trying to tell me? Why couldn't he just come out and say it?

"Cas said you talked to big man Death," Dean's deep voice called out through the air. I looked up from my perch under the tree to see both hunters looming over me with a sheepish looking angel behind them.

"Couldn't keep your mouth shut, Cas?" I asked him.

"Don't take it too personally, Alex. Cas can't keep any kind of secret from the two of us," Dean said, crouching down beside me.

"What did Death say?" Sam asked.

"Why do you want to know?"

"Well, whatever he said obviously spooked you. You barely said a word while we were finishing making the plan," Sam said, cautiously.

"It was nothing,"

"Oh sure," Dean drawled. He collapsed onto his behind, leaning against the tree, making himself comfortable. Sam did the same on my left side, crossing his long legs in front of him and resting his head on the bark.

"What are you guys doing?" I asked, swivelling my head between the two.

"Getting comfortable," Dean answered, moving around a bit to find the perfect position.

"We're not leaving until you tell us what Death said. It obviously wasn't good so we want to help," Sam continued for his brother.

"And what's stopping me from just getting up and leaving you?"

"Cas," Dean commanded. The angel moved in front of me and stood, ready to stop me if I tried to leave.

"You're siding with them, Cas? After all we've been through?"

"I wish to know what your boss said as well. If this is the only way to know then so be it," Cas replied.

"You guys do know I can teleport, right?"

"Oh we know," Sam smiled, eye closed as he relaxed in the sun's warm rays.

"But so can Cas, he'll find you," Dean added, grinning at me.

"He'll bring you right back here and we'll start all over again," Sam finished.

"So, what'll it be?" Dean asked. "An endless cycle of you teleporting away and Cas bringing you back? Or will you just tell us what's going on?"

"Fine," I huffed. Sam and Dean grinned and high fived over my head. "Real mature guys," I scoffed.

"What's going on, Alex?" Dean questioned, a serious expression taking over his features. He wasn't messing around anymore. I looked over to Sam who had the same look on his face.

"Apparently I'm cursed," I admitted.

"Cursed in what way?" Castiel asked.

"Death is my curse,"

"Death is your curse?" Dean repeated. "What the hell does that mean?"

"I don't know. That's my problem," I sighed.

"Do you have anything to go on?" Sam asked.

"I called a friend. He thought it may be Death trying to remind me I have a job to do, throughout all this baby drama. He's not wrong. I mean I haven't fed in a few days, I've been ignoring my job completely because of what's been happening. I just don't know what it means."

"It could just be him saying that you used to be all destructy, Death is your curse, you know. Maybe he thinks you shouldn't be raising a child?" Sam offered.

"Could be. It could mean a whole host of things. How do I know what it is he's talking about?" I huffed.

"I don't think you're meant to know," Cas piped up.

"What?"

"I think it's a type of prophecy. You won't know until it reveals itself to you," Cas explained.

"Well that's super helpful," I scoffed. "Just perfect. I love playing the waiting game. I mean it's not like we're not playing enough of it with these bad guys. Waiting until they get here just to maybe win a fight."

"There are some things we are just not meant to know, Alex. That's not a bad thing. The universe will tell you when you need to know," Cas argued.

"What if I need to know for this fight? What if I need to know now?"

"You'll know when you need to. That's how prophecies work. They only reveal themselves when they need to and not a moment before," He said.

"But that's not helpful," I whined.

"I think it's something you just gotta deal with, Lexi," Dean sighed.

"Yeah but it can still suck."

"Oh, it will, big time," Dean agreed.

"But like Cas said. You'll know when it's important for you to know," Sam said.

"Better be soon," I mumbled. "I hate waiting. Speaking of, where is this Deucalion guy?"

"Obviously having second thoughts," Dean smirked. "He knew we were coming."

"Of course, he's scared of you two," I said, rolling my eyes. "Look, am I free to go?"

"Yeah, but you know we're here to help you, Alex. Not to pester you," Sam reminded me.

"I know and I'm very grateful. Thanks guys," I said over my shoulder as I walked into the manor.

"Alex? Can we talk to you for a second?" Stefan's voice asked from the den. He was standing with Damon against the doorway.

"Sure, why not. Seems like all the brothers are ganging up on me to 'chat'," I sighed, moving towards the den.

"We just wanted to know how you were. We haven't really had a chance to talk after everything with Elena happened," Stefan said.

"I don't know guys. Things are crazy and hectic and weird and did I mention crazy?"

"Well, yeah, we figured that. I mean, you're pregnant for one thing," Damon said.

"Yeah, how did that happen by the way? You never told us how you got pregnant," Stefan wondered.

"Magical dude wants to resurrect his dead son, found out about me and put a baby in my belly to take it when it comes out and use the immortality in his spell to bring his son back," I explained, short version style.

"Wow...I mean just...wow," Stefan stuttered,

"Yeah, tell me about it," I said.

"So that's insane. But how are you coping with this all? Finding out you're pregnant, finding out Elena is not dead and that three different groups of bad guys are out to get you. That's a lot to deal with," Damon said.

"You're telling me," I muttered.

"We want to know how you are. We want you to know that you're not alone in this, Alex. We've got your back," Damon continued.

"Some of us happen to be your best friends," Stefan added, a proud grin on his face.

"We just want you to know that you can trust us with anything," Damon finished.

"I know, and I do trust you guys. Believe me, if it was super important, you two would be one of the first to know. I'm doing fine. I'm coping and dealing. I'm actually just waiting for this all to be over actually," I told the boys.

"Don't worry, Alex. It'll all be over soon," Stefan said, taking my hand in his.

"And we'll be with you. Forever and always," Damon added, pulling me into a hug.

"Forever and always," I repeated with a smile.

Good enough for a return chapter? I really hope so! To my reviewers:

grapejuice101 - Thank you for your review! I'm glad you liked the last chapter! I'm not sure where Stefan and Damon stand right now and I don't think they do either haha!

SomebodyWhoCares - Thank you for your review! I'm glad you liked the cute moment. Not a lot of fluff here but there will be in future chapters. A lot of it!

bigdloveztexaz - Thank you for your review! Glad you like the intensity, that's basically all this story is! Sorry for your wait!

Smilingbringsjoy - Thank you for your review! I'm so sorry it took so long but I hope you enjoy this chapter.

Kellyxo - Thank you for your review! Yep! So much big trouble, you have no idea! There's so much crazy coming and I cannot wait for you guys to read it! It's gonna be insane! And yeah, it is Teenwolf as well now! Full on crossover with so many tv shows!

Nicole - Thank you for your review! I am so sorry you've had to wait for so long" Hopefully you still enjoy reading about Alex? You thought the last chapter was full of twists? Well, here's a few more for you! Haha! I think Elena is starting to chill a bit towards Alex but who knows, she's a pretty selfish character so it'll be interesting to see how she fares in fighting against the bad guys when the time comes. There wasn't much interaction between Alex, Stefan and Damon in this chapter but hopefully enough to tide you over! Hopefully this chapter answered a few of your questions and you enjoyed it!

Atlafan1286 - Thank you for your review! Haha Eric and Godric would be amazing but so close to the end I'm not sure I'll bring them in. I'm glad things have been cleared up for you now!

SkullCandy123 - Thank you for your review! I'm so happy that you love this so much. It's not going to last years unfortunately but I could always write a sequel if it strikes my fancy. I love Alex too much to leave her haha! I'm glad you like the crossovers, it was a risky move but I'm glad it's paying off!

mortega22 - Thank you for your review! I'm glad you like the crossovers. No, I changed it a while ago, it was in an author's note. Chapter 38 I think. I went back and changed it as a Klaus/Alex baby storyline didn't work with where I wanted the story to go. It's explained in a very condensed version how Alex came to be pregnant at the end of this chapter during her conversation with the Salvatore brothers.

Amolgie - Thank you for your review! So glad you enjoy this story and I'm so sorry for the long wait!

KaitySafs - Thank you for your review! I am so happy you enjoy this story, it's my baby and I am so glad you like the crossovers too. I love writing them. I'm greedy, I couldn't stick to just the Vampire Diaries, I had to have it all! I am so sorry for your wait and I hope you've come back for this chapter!

sweetandred13 - Thank you for your review! I'm so glad you think this story is that good! Hopefully it's still that good even if you've had to wait nearly a year! Again, super sorry for that!

JordiSalvatore - Thank you for your review! I plan on updating it now, nearly a year later which I am so sorry for! Please don't hate me! I'm glad you love this story and I hope you still do!

katraj0908 - Thank you for your review! Alex gets that kind of thing from my personality, unfortunately. I am very flirty, sometimes without even realising, and Alex has a lot of that too. She doesn't realise she's being very flirty. However, I don't feel like she's been jumping from guy to guy. I'm not going to lie, quite a lot of the male characters have had a crush on her at one point or another, but Alex herself has only ever really like Damon at the start and Kol during the middle till now. It's more like the male characters are falling for her (which I admit might be too far) and she's being flirty back, but she's always been only about Kol. It is mainly Kol now, most of the male characters are showing friendly or sisterly relationships with Alex. But I am biased as it is my story so I do take your criticism on board and will look at the way I'm writing everyone.

InkHeart1212 - Thank you for your review! Hopefully it was a good 'holy shit' and not a bad one haha!

So that's chapter 40 then guys! Hopefully it wasn't too much of a disappointment and was worth waiting for, even a little bit! I love you all so much so please review, even to let me know you're still here supporting me, even though I don't deserve it for keeping you waiting for so long! You're all amazing and I will see you all in Chapter 41!
