Tarrlok's definitely the kind of guy to fret.
She'd laughed at his worry when she planned to make her first trip to the Spirit World. Her uncle didn't seem very concerned either, and gave her permission to have the oasis to herself while she attempted the journey. She rolled her eyes a little when he expressed his concerns, but he couldn't bring himself to forget the dangers as well as the wonders to be found in the Spirit World. Avatars Aang and Kuruk had both had to deal with Koh, the face-stealer, and he knew Korra well enough to be sure she'd never be able to stay calm if provoked. She patted his cheek and told him that if it made him feel better, he could sit with her while she meditated.
He'd taken her up on that offer. He was glad for her when her eyes opened and glowed a brilliant white, but it was agonizing to know that she could be facing danger at that moment and he was powerless to help. It had been a tense few hours while he waited for her to wake up. He'd tried and failed to relax, and passed the time pacing around the edges of the oasis, hardly taking his eyes from her. When her eyes had finally opened, she'd smiled up at him and moved to stand up. He was turning toward her, reaching out to her, when her legs buckled and she collapsed onto the grass.
He ran to her, his pulse pounding in his ears. He was trying to call for help, but the words caught in his throat. He knelt down beside her, turning her onto her back as carefully as if she were made of blown glass. It was a complete shock when she grinned up at him and wrapped her legs around his waist, flipping him so she pinned him against the ground. He was still struggling to understand while she stretched herself along his body and gave him a long, languid kiss. When she finally broke away she brushed a stray hair away from his face and smiled again as she said, "I told you I'd be fine."
