Okay so its been a while hasn't it?
So I watched K return of Kings and now I have no idea what to do. I am still working on the details of how to continue this story and I hope I can incorporate my take of the story through this fic.
I have been reminded that some of my facts are wrong and while I went back and fixed somethings, there are some aspects I decided to keep. The reason for the White Clan will come up, I promise, I have an entire concept and back story for that clan all ready to go, I just need to incorporate it into this fic.
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy this, I've been working on it for months, and I just hope it delivers. Writer's block is a bitch.
Disclaimer: I do NOT own K
Well enjoy and tell me what you think!
Chapter VIII
The second the door closed behind him, Shizuka's eyes widened as the events that happened in the past five minutes. Her entire face turned red before she collapsed onto her bed.
Her finger traced the teardrop shaped pendant on her neck before she blushed once more.
'What just happened?,'
Outside her room, Saruhiko leaned against the door, his eyes wide as he covered his mouth. His cheeks were red from the action he had just done.
That was an impulse. An unconscious action he took.
It wasn't on purpose. It was, just. Saruhiko signed as he grabbed his hair. What was he doing? He was feeling things he had never knew he could even feel because of her. Ever since she entered his life everything was just, confusing. Emotions he had never even knew existed appeared whenever she was around. Whenever she was with any other member of Homura, even Anna, he felt a stinging and a bit of annoyance at them for taking her attention away. Every time she smiled or looked over, he could feel his face heating up slightly, just slightly. When those gang members threatened her, he lost it, and he ended up hurting her. The sight of the scar on her neck sent huge amounts of guilt and discomfort to him. He hurt her and gave her such a horrible scar. She refused to let him near after that.
He was thankful that he found the choker, it covered the scar and the red tear drop was accented against her white or bright colored clothes. He let out a frustrated sound before he slowly walked away from the door and headed downstairs to the empty bar. Without saying anything, he sat down on one of the stools and stared blankly at the rows and rows of alcohol behind the glass separating them from the hands of the other Homura members.
He needed a drink, anything to take his mind off of what was going on in his head.
...
As he stepped downstairs to the bar, Saruhiko paused at the sight of Izumo. The bartender was standing at the bar, wiping a glass while he stared out at the other members who had just returned from their late night partying in Shizume City. Saruhiko glanced at the door to see most of the older members walking in drunk while Tatara welcomed them. He looked back at the glass cases of alcohol once more. He needed a drink of some sort to help get his mind off the things that were bothering him.
Tatara noticed Saruhiko standing at the staircase. He could see that the blue-haired teen was troubled before he opened his mouth.
"Saru-kun, is something wrong?" he voiced snapping the blue-haired teen out of his stupor before he noticed how the rest of the Homura members were looking up at him. Looking away, Saruhiko coughed, to clear his head and voice before he headed back up the stairs.
"No, nothing is wrong."
...
Tatara stared out at the bar. Just like before, the atmosphere was well, awkward. Shizuka and Saruhiko to be exact. Although he had no idea what happened on Christmas, the atmosphere between the two changed from cold and the not talking to each other attitude to something, well different. They could not look at one another without blushing madly. There was also something that caught his eye. For the past month, Shizuka wore a white muffler, everywhere she went, as if to hide something on her neck. But now, she wound the muffler even tighter around her neck, almost to the point it looked like she was being strangled.
"Shizuka-chan, aren't you warm wearing that muffler inside?" he asked as she walked by. The white haired teen immediately froze at his words as her hand went immediately to her neck. Tatara could see the hesitation in her eyes as she only wrapped the white piece of clothing tighter around her neck. She remained silent before she looked up and paused. When she looked up, her eye immediately saw a pair of blue eyes on her. The blush on her face spread across her whole face that her facial color was the same hue of red as the other Homura member's flames.
"No, I'm not warm," she whispered before she ran away from Tatara and everyone's eyes. The second she ran out, everyone glanced from Tatara to the stairs.
"What was that about?"
"I don't know," Tatara responded before he looked over at Saruhiko, whose eyes were on the stairs.
"I don't know," he repeated again when he noticed the calendar next to him. The brunette remained silent for a second before an idea hit him.
Anna immediately noticed his smile and she looked at him with a wondering gaze.
"Tatara?" the eight year old whispered, snapping the older man out of his thoughts. Looking over, Tatara smiled down at the little girl.
"Anna, I just came up with the most brilliant idea."
Closing the door behind her, Shizuka let out the breath she was holding. Once she regained her breath, she slowly removed the muffler from her neck . As it slipped from her hands, Shizuka smiled a small smile as she reached up and touched the red gem situated in the center of the choker.
...
Five Days Later
It had been five days since that event. To say things were not awkward would be a big fat lie. Things were even more awkward, something she never thought possible. She couldn't even look at Saruhiko without her face exploding or her speech becoming incoherent. Every time she looked at him, the memory of what happed a week ago kept popping up in her head.
The fact that he gave her the choker to cover up the scar that he caused. The sudden kiss, the look in his eye as he told her to call her by his given name. The fact that she covered the necklace with the muffler. The first few days after Christmas, she was his lingering gaze on her neck, to see if she wore the choker. She could see his gaze darken every time when he saw that she was wearing the muffler instead.
She could feel her face heating up once again before she slapped her cheeks. She needed to calm down before she looked at the clock in her room. It was only eight in the morning but the night before, Tatara had requested that everyone meet up in the bar at 8:30 for an important announcement.
As she walked downstairs, she smiled when she saw the sleepy faces of some of the other Homura members as they all walked into the bar, none of their facial expressions or their speech coherent. She saw Tatara sitting at the bar with a sleepy Anna and Mikoto who had his eyes closed as everyone gathered.
Anna looked up when she heard footsteps coming down the stairs. A small smile formed on her face when she saw Shizuka walking down the stairs before she ran up to her and grabbed her hand. Shizuka couldn't help but smile as she stared at the younger girl's morning greeting.
"Good morning Anna," and the younger girl nodded before she tugged Shizuka towards one of the empty stools at the bar. Tatara greeted her in his normal, cheerful way. Shizuka nodded her head at him and Mikoto who just nodded his head in response to her as well. As she waited for the others to settle down, Izumo handed her a mug of hot chocolate. A smile formed on her face as she quietly sipped the drink in her hands and let the warmth seep through her.
When everyone gathered, Tatara clapped his hands to gather their attention.
"Alright! Since today is the last day of the year! We're going to do something a little special!"
"What are you talking about Totsuka-san?" questioned Misaki walking up to the area the older Homura stand at. Tatara smiled at Misaki's question before he opened his arms to spin in place .
"We're going to have a city wide treasure hunt!"
Everyone's eyes widened at his announcement.
"Treasure hunt?"
"Yeah! A city wide treasure hunt before the end of the year! The deadline is midnight tonight!"
"Sounds like a drag," whispered Saruhiko, his eyes glancing over to see Shizuka's excited on his face. His eyes fell to the muffler on her neck before he turned his head away to see Tatara smiling at him from the bar.
"The winner doesn't have to go on evening patrol or do chores for a month," everyone perked up at those words before they all stormed over to the passive member.
"I would like to join!"
Tatara smiled as everyone ran over to the bar area with eager faces. He held back a smirk as he waltzed around the room, every pair of eyes following his. Once at the center, he stopped and stood proudly and held his finger up.
"There's a catch! Everyone will be paired off into pairs!"
"What!"
"You guys will be handcuffed until the end of the day, by the way, I made sure that these handcuffs are fire and heat resistant, so don't even think of using your power to melt these off!" Tatara yelled out as he sort of danced around pulling pairs together. Groans or yells of excitement filled the room as each person was either happy or grumpy about the person they were paired with. Shizuka turned to both Mikoto and Izumo who were standing/sitting, making no notion of moving.
"Will you two be joining Mikoto-san? Izumo-san?" Shizuka questioned and Izumo smiled at her.
"Nah, I'm going to stay at base to make sure things are running smoothly," the blonder bartender replied, his eyes turned to the red king. "What about you Mikoto?"
The Red King remained silent, but his slowly shook his head. Shizuka glanced over to see Anna sitting next to her quietly. Even though she was silent, Shizuka could see the excitement in the young girl's eyes.
"Anna, want to be my partner?" the older girl questioned. Anna piped up at Shizuka's words before a smile formed on her head. But as Shizuka reached for Anna when Tatara took her forearm and pulled her away. Shizuka jerked her head to see the mischevious smile on Tatara's face as he led her away from Anna.
"Shizuka-chan, your turn to be paired off!" he sang to Shizuka's confusion.
"But I thought I was going with Anna," she started but Tatara shook his head before he led her to her partner.
"I'm pairing your guys off!" he cheered before he grabbed the arm of Shizuka's partner. Two pairs of eyes bulged as silver and blue widened at the sight of each other and the audible click of the handcuffs.
"He/she's my partner?!"
...
"This fucking sucks," Misaki grumbled as he, and his partner, Rikio walked around the city. Misaki blushed as people especially girls walked past them and giggled at their handcuffed together hands.
"Yata-san it's not that bad! All we have to do is complete the hunt and then we'll be free!
the older Homura member tried to pacify the hot head but Misaki ignored his words when he noticed Saruhiko and Shizuka walking not too far from them. Rikio followed his partner's gaze and he stopped when he saw the two teenagers.
"At least we're not them," Rikio offered to which Misaki nodded.
Even though he was often called hot-headed or dim-witted, even he could tell that something was going on between the two. There was tension that started from a month ago, when the two teens were separated from the rest of Homura the day that they went to the amusement park. They had arrived hours later, and since then, Shizuka and Saruhiko could barely look at each other.
"What the hell happened that day?" Misaki muttered to himself.
...
"I think the first place we have to go is the mall," Shizuka glanced up from the hint they were given when they left the bar. She froze when she saw Saruhiko's eyes on her, his blue eyes bearing into hers. She felt her words stop in her throat before she looked down at the piece of paper again. He could see how uncomfortable she was and that she was keeping as far as the handcuffs could allow
"Anyway, I think the next clue is-"
"We don't have to do this," Saruhiko stated getting Shizuka's attention.
"But Totsuka-san said that-,"
"Screw that," he stated as he glanced down at the handcuff on his wrist. A second later, a flame engulfed the metal and Saruhiko smiled when he noticed the metal getting hot. A little more and it would melt. Suddenly, pain filled his arm and Saruhiko held back a curse when he noticed that the handcuff was nowhere near damaged but there now was a burn on his wrist.
"Saruhiko-san, your wrist!" Shizuka stated when she saw the burn mark on Saruhiko's wrist. The blue haired teen stared down at his wrist before he looked at Shizuka who looked at the ring shaped burn on it. She pulled it close to her before she covered it with her hand. A white light filled his vision before Saruhiko tried to pull his wrist away but Shizuka's grip on his arm tightened.
"Don't," she stated, her eyes on his arm in concentration as she continued to heal him. Saruhiko could only watch as she healed him. When the light disappeared, he paused as he stared down at his now healed hand. He glanced back at Shizuka to see her avoid his gaze before she dropped his hand away and looked away. "Totsuka-san was serious when he said that the handcuffs were fire resistant, the only way to get these off is to complete the hunt."
Saruhiko slowly nodded his head before he took the piece of paper from Shizuka's hands.
"Fine, we'll finish this fast, that way, we can get these," he gestured to the handcuffs, "Off."
"Right," she answered back before they started to move.
...
"Yeah! I found it!" yelled Misaki his fist pumping in the air. In his right fist, he held a stamp with the Homura insignia on it. Rikio yelled out in joy before he rushed over and grabbed the stamp and placed it on the paper they were given at the beginning. As they waited for the ink to dry, they both heard loud noises behind them. Turning around, their eyes bulged out at the sight of every other Homura member rushing towards them, their eyes ablaze.
"No chores for a month!" they chanted over and over, their voices getting louder and their pace becoming faster.
"What the fuck!" Misaki yelled out before he and Rikio were suddenly trampled. Curses flew out of Misaki's mouth as he was pushed aside and shoved. When the crowd died down, Misaki and Rikio groaned when they both head laughter above them. The two looked up and Misaki growled when he saw Saruhiko staring down at him while Shizuka had a concerned look on her face.
"Well, you look like you're having fun Misaki," the blue haired teen mocked, his eyes full of mischief. Misaki jumped up in anger only to grimace at the numerous bruises adorning his body.
"Yata-san, are you alright? What about you Kanamoto-san?" Shizuka asked and both Misaki and Rikio only nodded their heads when a white light engulfed their bodies.
"What the hell!" Misaki yelled out as he watched the bruises disappearing and he glanced over to see Shizuka surrounded by the light and a slight breeze blowing around them. When the light disappeared, Misaki looked over to Rikio to find that his bruises had also disappeared. Shizuka took a step back and a smile appeared on her face at the sight of her powers. Saruhiko only watched with narrowed eyes.
She was so comfortable with everyone, but him. Anger bubbled in him but he held himself back.
"Come on," Saruhiko grabbed Shizuka's hand and the stamp before he turned and started to walk away despite her protests. Misaki and Rikio only watched in silence before the older man turned towards Misaki.
"What just happened?"
...
"Let me go! What's wrong with you!" Shizuka yelled out as she tried to stop Saruhiko to no avail. The older teen ignored her words as he dragged her through the city, his anger only growing with each second. Shizuka tried to pull her hand away again and let out a frustrated noise at her failure.
"Sauhiko!" the blue haired teen abruptly stopped at her calling him name. Shizuka slammed into his back before Saruhiko turned around, his eyes livid.
"What is wrong with you? Yata-san and Kanamoto-san were hurt!" she yelled, her anger and frustration pouring out at his actions.
Saruhiko remained silent as he noticed how close they were in the alleyway. He could see her catching her breath. His eyes locked on the white muffler on her neck disappointment filling his head at the lack of the necklace he got her. Shizuka slowly caught her breath before she realized how close her face was to his. Blue clashed with silver to which Shizuka quickly turned her head. she could feel his breath on her cheek and their vicinity only caused her to blush when Saruhiko grabbed her shoulder and turned her forward to face him. She looked up at him with a questioning look in her eyes when he closed his eyes and placed his lips over hers. She froze at the contact, her mind going blank for a second before her eyes snapped open and she tried to push him away only to Sauhiko grab her by the arms and slam her into the wall, his lips never leaving hers. Shizuka tried to push him away one more time but his grip only tightened on her. Slowly, Shizuka lowered her arms and she closed her eyes as she kissed him back. When the two pulled away. Saruhiko stared down at Shizuka, blue eyes locked on silver before he placed his head on her shoulder.
"Stop avoiding me," his whispered, causing Shizuka to look at him in shock.
"I wasn't-," she tried to reply on to have Saruhiko look at her again, his eye brows raised. Shizuka ducked her head down at his look before she looked away.
"I just didn't know how to react around you," she whispered out her words. Saruhiko remained silent at her words, his emotions bubbling up in him again.
"I like you," they blurted out, and they both looked up in shock at each other's words, a small gasp escaping Shizuka's lips.
Well, what did you guys think? I am already working on the next chapter and I hope to have it soon, maybe in a month or so?
