Awake
Jason couldn't bring himself to say anything. All he could do was sob and cling to his little birdy. Dick's beautiful blue eyes remained shut as Jason held him.
"I'm sorry, Dick. I'm so, so sorry." Jason cried. He held his little brother's hand and kissed it tenderly. Jason suddenly felt Dick's hand twitch. Jason's eyes widened and waited silently before he felt the hand twitch again.
"Dick?" Jason whispered.
"Birdy, come on!" Jason pleaded, still clutching Dick's hand. "Open your eyes! I know you can do it! Please! I promise I'm not going anywhere."
Jason felt Dick's hand move again and Dick's eyes flew open. Dick's baby blue eyes met Jason's green ones.
"Jay?" Questioned the little bird. Jason almost passed out with relief and let out a joyful sob before hugging his brother close to him. Dick's good arm wrapped around Jason's waist and they sat there in that position for a long time before parting. Tears leaked from the baby bird's eyes and Jason wiped them away.
"Don't cry, Birdy." Jason soothed. "I promise it's over."
"I love you, Jay." Dick sobbed.
"I love you too." Jason whispered, kissing Dick's forehead.
Dick made his way to recovery weeks later. Everyone, especially the Bat family had never been happier. Jason was happy as well but something was plaguing his mind. The Terminator was going to pay. He would make sure of that.
I'm very sorry I didn't update. I've been busy with work 24/7. I had to get this done quickly. I'm sorry if it's short but I promise when my work is out of the way, I'll continue to write. Please don't leave any bad reviews. If you want someone to blame then blame the people who keep filling my desk with work. Anyway, I'm going to have to end the story here. When all my work is done, I'll start a sequel.
