The Burrow is generally a place where you can hear laughter and joking. Not today. Everything was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. The causes of the sudden change were two people having a standoff in the middle of the living room. If someone was just looking in on the scene, it would look like Fred and Hermione were about to use the killing curse. That was until Fred cracked a smile.
"Hermione, why did you tell me? I thought we agreed that you would tell me right away…" Fred started to trail off at the end of his sentence sounding hurt.
"Fred, I just wanted to surprise you. I mean on our anniversary, you surprised me with fireworks and on my birthday, it was a huge party with everyone I loved. I never get a chance to surprise you…" Hermione gave him a look that begged him to come comfort her.
"Love, you don't have to do anything special. By just telling me that.."
"Hey, Lovebirds! Is it safe to come back in or do I have to bury a dead body?" George laughed at the look on Hermione's face as he sauntered into the room with Molly following him.
"George, they don't seem to be done with their private conversation. Maybe we should leave," Molly scolded as she tried to pull him out of the room.
"Nah, Hermione was trying to surprise Fred, not well, but I want to know what the big reason was!" George tried to pull away from Molly as he said this but she wasn't having it. George was yelling something about never knowing what was happening with his favorite brother.
Fred pulled Hermione into a hug to get her mind back into the conversation they were having a few minutes ago. She looked up at him with a guilty look on her face and gave him a feeble smile. When Hermione tried to open her mouth to explain more, Fred gave her a light kiss on the lips to tell her that everything was okay.
"I need to just come out and say it now that you know what's going on. Fred, I'm pregnant." Hermione said soft enough so Fred had to strain to here.
"We're going to have a little you?!"Fred cried as he pulled Hermione closer to his chest.
"Hopefully a little of you, too. As long as the baby isn't a much of a trickster like his father…" She made a slight grimace and kissed Fred on the cheek.
"But whatever our baby is like, I'm going to love it every second of its life." Fred smiled at Hermione and she felt her heart soar. She couldn't wait to see how amazing of a father her husband would be. Fred would be amazing just like he is with little Teddy.
"Do you think we should tell Molly, yet?" Hermione asked Fred while she grabbed his hand.
Fred looked at his wife and sincerely thought about telling his mother that she would be a grandmother again. But his mind kept wandering to his thoughts about the future. He couldn't help but imagine holding his child while Hermione sang to it and scolded him for turning the kid pink or something.
"Nah, she can wait a few more days. I would like to celebrate with my beautiful wife first."
And on that note, the couple walked out of the Burrow and into the cold air. With Hermione kissing Fred on the cheek, the two apparated to their apartment where they spent the day discussing names and colors for the baby's room.
