Blue Night

Marik stares down the damp and dimly lit hallway. The mossy stone blocks are packed as tightly as possible. The hallway is narrow and the ceiling isn't as high as most. He smirks, proud of the architecture. He designed it himself and organised its creation. He even chose those who partook in the project. It was quite momentous.

His expression contorts into a mask of malice. He was often thought of as kind but it was all a lie. His true self is the unredeemable one. Yami Marik barely holds a candle to the darkness within himself. He made Yami Marik and controls him with fear and underhanded tactics. If anyone else were to discover that truth he would be in a great deal of danger. However, he is not a fool. He knows who he considers to be his utmost enemy and can manipulate him equally as well as his other self.

He taps the bars of the prison cell. A small hunched over figure twitches. He can almost taste her fear. Seto Kaiba has made his distaste and disbelief in anything unexplainable clear. However, if Marik reveals his prisoner he's sure that Seto will change his mind. It's been made quite clear that his past life still haunts him and Marik intends to use that to his advantage.

He taps the bars again.

She shuffles further into the tiny, damp corner. Her body is trembling from the constant coldness and dampness. She shouldn't have survived for so long in these conditions. He's surprised that he hasn't had to move her yet – it has been over two years.

"The guards will be here once I leave. It's been a while since you've seen them, but I can assure you that they won't be as tolerant as before," he explains.

She doesn't respond. He starts to walk away. His footsteps echo tauntingly.

"Why?" she whispers, her voice hoarse. "Why me?"

Marik simply walks on. The bars rattle as she presses against them. He glances back, her long white hair trailing across the ground. Her desperation is tangible. She's close to losing her sanity.

Author's Note: Happy All Hallows Eve. I usually choose Vocaloid for this special but I've made an exception this year. This isn't particularly horror but I do think it's fitting. Thank you for reading. Good night.
