A strange girl ends up inside the 11th doctor's TARDIS and no memory of what she is or where she came from, the only thing she remembers is her name and something about Techno-mages. The doctor has to make a detour to find out where she may have come from and his only hope is to find another techno-mage to aid him with answers to where she may have come from.
Chapter 2
Galen worked through his mind how he was going to do this. He followed her out into the main part of Med bay.
"Sareena, please stop." called out Galen.
The girl slowed and slowly turned back to Galen. As if on cue, crew members of the Excalibur that were in the Med bay just stared at them. Matthew was talking to Max Eilerson in a corner. Dureena walked in.
'Is Lt Matheson coming down here now?' thought Galen. The Doctor stood there talking to Doctor Chambers.
"Who is your friend?" asked Dureena.
"Not now Dureena," said Galen. His tone was in a way that let anyone know he wasn't the one to be messed with.
Matthew and Max looked up at the same time. They knew if they said a word, their deaths would be their own faults.
'Come,' wrote Galen to Sareena. Galen stalked out of the med bay and the girl followed without a question. The Doctor followed the two Techno-mages out of med bay.
"Um, Galen," said the Doctor. "Where are you going with her?"
"Somewhere we can talk," said Galen as he stopped to wait for the bullet car. Sareena and the Doctor stayed close together. The door slide open and the three entered. Galen closed his eyes and turned off all of the probes he had on the ship. As far as he knew, the angel was still in the hold, but that area was locked down when the power went out. He couldn't let any of his probes see the angel. He couldn't have any image of the angel saved anywhere on the ship. He would send a halo-demon to take any images of the angel off the ships computer, before the silver was removed.
"Flight deck," said Galen as he sat down and stared off into space. He needed to see what else he might have taught his daughter, by way of the DNA. Turning to Sareena, "I need to see what else you can do." Opening his coat, he pulled out a small book and handed it to the girl.
Taking the book from Galen, Sareena opened the book. The doctor looked over the girl's shoulder to see a 'word search puzzle'.
Looking back at Galen, the Doctor smiled, "Keeping your mind sharp, Galen? Very good!" Playing with his bow tie, the Doctor was impressed.
Sareena ran her figure down the puzzle until she found a word. It became highlighted. She went on to find other word. In ten minutes, she found all the words. Looking up at Galen, she smiled.
Galen raised his eyebrow at the smile that he received from Sareena. It made him think of Isabelle. It was bright and flooded the room with light. This surprised Galen greatly. He hoped it wouldn't always hurt when he thought of Isabelle.
The bullet car stopped and the doors slid open and the three got off. Crossing the flight deck, Galen's ship opened up. The mage turned toward the Doctor, "You may not enter." Pushing Sareena inside, he closed the door on the Doctor.
The Doctor pulled out his sonic screwdriver and tried to force the door open. Nothing would work. "GALEN!" yelled the Doctor.
"Doctor," said Matthew Gideon.
Turning around, the Doctor saw the captain of the Excalibur standing there with security. "Hello," said the time lord.
"Would you mind telling us about the Angel? Galen told us that the Techno-mages had caged the Angels and then left an alarm system to warn them when someone was on the planet."
The Doctor smiled, Galen lied about the Weeping Angels. The Doctor wasn't sure who left the angel there, but now he could find some information out. "The Angels are a species of quantum-locked humanoids from the early universe. They are so called because their unique nature necessitated that they often covered their faces to prevent trapping themselves in stone form for eternity. They were known for being murderous psychopaths, killing their victims "nicely" by dropping them into the past and letting them live to death. This allowed them to live off the remaining time energy of the victim's life. However, when this potential energy paled in comparison to an alternative power source to feed on, the Angels were known to kill by other means. I believe Sareena was sent back in time by an Angel in the future."
"So why was this angel covered in silver?" asked Matthew.
"Well someone thought that the angel wouldn't be able to come alive in the silver," said the doctor.
"So how long do you think the angel was trapped down there?" asked Matthew.
"Well..." said the Doctor. Galen lied and said that the Techno-mages placed the angel there. The angel could have been put there by anyone, but the Doctor would play along with Galen. "The Techno-mages have been around for over a thousand years, so it could be awhile. Since they are still in hiding, I'm surprised anyone heard the alarm they left." The Doctor stopped talking and looked toward Galen's ship. A thought just came to him.
"Galen, I need to talk to you."
"Magnus ," said the voice of his ship.
"Yes," said Galen.
"The Doctor is outside yelling at you."
"Show me."
The ship made a screen and the Doctor's voice came through the speakers. "Galen, I need to talk to you."
"Don't concern yourself with him," said Galen.
"But it might be important, Galen," said Sareena.
"I doubt that," said Galen. "The Time Lord has most likely come up with something that I've already thought of."
"Oh," Sareena watched as the Doctor yelled. She couldn't hear him anymore. "Galen, is there a reason that everyone around here looks like you are going to kill them at any second?"
Galen let sigh out. "I could with just a thought, not that anyone on this ship could prove that I could. Most of the crew thinks of me as the Spectre of Death."
"Well I could believe that," said Sareena. "You scare the hell out of me, but the Doctor doesn't seem to be scared of you. Nor does the Captain of this ship."
"Matthew and I have history." Galen moved away from the girl. "I saved his life years ago. He has saved my life in ways he both knows and doesn't know. He helped me complete a promise I made a long time ago. I've made the same promise to him that I will help him with. Though I do need to tell him something about what I promised to help him with. I'm just not sure how he is going to react, because of Earth's involvement."
"I don't understand," said Sareena.
Looking up at Sareena, "It's a long story and someday I will tell you." Taking a breath, Galen looked at his child. "Somehow you come from my DNA and that of Dureena Nafeel. You might have seen her in the med bay. I'm not sure how I'm going to tell her about you."
"You two aren't together?" asked Sareena.
"No," said Galen. "I choose to live my life alone. I can't see why or how, but at any rate. I must tell Dureena. And I must tell you something else." Galen moved toward the door of his ship. It slide opened and the Doctor stood there with an angry look on his face.
"How dare you not answer me," yelled the Doctor.
"I know what you think of Sareena and an Angel, but we will talk about that shortly." Galen passed the Doctor and Matthew without a glance back. Sareena followed and tried to keep up with the mage.
Standing waiting for the bullet car, Galen knew the next words out of the Doctor's mouth. 'You can't keep her in the dark.'
Standing next to Galen, "You can't keep her in the dark about herself."
"Yes I know," said Galen. "And I'm not going to. She is to be told in the fullness of time." The bullet car arrived and the doors slid open. Everyone got on and Galen sat down next to Dureena. He looked at her. It was the moment.
"Dureena, I want you to meet Sareena. She is from the future and is somehow made from our DNA. She is a techno-mage, but she was born looking completely human. I am still working how that is out. Sareena, I believe, and I believe the Doctor will agree, you were sent back in time by way of an Angel. They have a habit of doing that and then living off that person's energy from their life line. I don't know yet why your memory is missing." Galen stopped talking and stared off into space.
"What the hell, Galen?" yelled Dureena. She had to count to 10 before speaking again and let out a sigh.
" Are you saying she's our child as in at some point we are going to- oh gods no- no way wouldn't no way I would have to be extremely drunk no offense but you old" folded her arms and looking at Sareena and then Galen suddenly burst out laughing he found her statement very amusing and she sat the mouth open and staring at him unbelieving and everyone else raised and eye brow at Galen's unexpected out bust.
"Old, oh Dureena I am younger than you in fact I'm most likely the second youngest here right now well there's Sareena of course she's say 25, myself I am in fact only 31 so less of the old " Dureena looked at him in disbelief
" this is- this is so wrong I am not continuing this conversation in company" was mainly referring to the doctor mainly.
" then we shall discuses this in privet then"
" just you me and the girl right?"
"if that is how you wish it to be, but I am sure that I am right about her, she was not-" the bullet car stopped and Sareena made another run for it.
" look what you done now I swear you haven't got a clue have you we need to talk now!" she walked out and he followed and Matthew let out a deep sigh as the doors shut.
"they aren't not even together yet and there already arguing like there a married couple, what do we do about the angel?"
They soon found her and Dureena was putting herself between him and Sareena she was acting like a lioness protecting her cub as she let her in to her quarters and told her she could stay with her, Sareena nodded as she was lead in to Dureena's bed room and she was soon asleep and Dureena came out a stood crossed arms and stared at Galen.
"How the hell did this happen and I don't buy the she was made in a lab crap you are thinking she's too much like me you saw the way she did a runner I was like it at her age you going to explain or just stare at me?"
"Dureena, I am sure you are aware of the way to make a babies"
" do i look stupid carry on and i'll really will hit you"
" You can try and you will fa-" she had completely lost it with him and slapped him hard across the face.
"You insensitive son of a bitch you never consider over's feeling you are like a dammed voided you do understand there are people than care about you hell you have a few secret admires I hear I want say names but you act like you have no heart at times what has made you so cold?"
he just stood there holding his face where she just hit him he was trying to keep calm so not to lose his control right now.
" well? you going to enlighten me or do I have to hit you even harder to get it out you because I am not afraid of you in the slightest so spill it now" she had her arms folded again and he sighed and sat down and looked her.
" if you knew the truth you would be afraid so you think you are ready to know?"
" Well I think so because our futures asleep in the next room tell me why she can't be our natural child"
he sighed and looked up at her" you may grow to hate me, but you have a right to know and do with the information as you see fit I have no regrets"
He spent most of the evening telling her everything and she listened to it all and after he finished she sat beside him.
" is that everything? you think I would hate you for what you really are?"
" Yes, Dureena, I'm a monster even over's of my order fear me for what I can do and I'm surprised you aren't stood yelling at me after all those who gave my kind their gifts destroyed your whole world and race how can you still want to look at me or be near me I'm not worth caring about"
" you don't get it do you want another reminder on the over side of your face people care about you hell I care about you I mean if it wasn't for you I wouldn't be here I wouldn't be doing good did you know when you first got the technology where it was from nor is it your fault no why should I hate you for something you had no knowledge of at the time I carnet I just carnet hate you and you shouldn't keep yourself hidden from over's you should open up more people will be less afraid of you I'm not afraid of you" he just stared disbelieving at what she was saying it had been said to him before that he should open up to others it had been Isabella words and now Dureena was saying the same thing and he just wanted to run to retreated from her before he lived to regret the feelings he hide deep inside locked away where no one could see them.
" I'm still lost over how if she's actually my natural child I neither thought I would ever be able to have children"
" Well our species are not that different in fact same number of chromosomes both levo-rotary amino acid based and well-"
" Well what? are you blushing Galen that is a first, what you trying to say that as you going red on me spill it"
" Sexually compatible" Dureena raid an eye brow and let out a laugh.
" And I thought Max was weird how do you know so much?"
"Dureena I'm a techno-mage we know everything and so much more than you can image"
"Right... OK I'll belieth you for now " she got up and hovered over him " I'll keep an eye on her I'll let you go I'm sure Gideon will be needing you what with that thing that's currently lock up after this is all sorted we can talk again threes things you don't know about me it's only fair I tell you in time right now I'm not ready so I'll let you go"
"Thank you for listening and surprisingly understanding I don't know what to say I expected you to want to kill me I underestimated you Dureena you truly are remarkable even with all that rage you have and when you are ready I will listen and not judge you in time, good night Dureena" he got up and headed out the door and strode off.
"Good night to you to Galen" she took a deep breath and went to cheek on Sareena then went to sleep herself.
"So Doctor," said Captain Gideon. "Now that soap opera has gotten off, would you like to come to the conference room and work through this stuff with the Angel?"
"I will try to help with that Captain." The Doctor followed the Captain off the bullet car and down the corridor to the conference room off the bridge. "I should tell you, if you have any pictures of the angel, you better destroy them. The angels have a habit of making a new one from it. So instead of having just one, you could have fifty real fast."
Matthew turned toward the Doctor, "Tell me you just made that up just to scare me?"
"I'm afraid not, sir."
Matthew touched his communicator bracelet on the wrist, "John, start going through the computer records and get rid of all pictures of the angel. Contact everyone who might have taken a recording of it and tell them to get rid of the too."
"Yes, Captain," said Matheson. Communicating to all the department about the angel.
Maximilian Eilerson was not falling for that hogwash that Lt. John Matheson just broadcast to the away team. Nothing could make a new one out of a picture. Having his back to the computer screen on the wall behind him, Max had left a picture of the Angel out of the silver on the screen. The picture moved a bit. Not that the man in the room saw it. Max was too busy looking at the hard copy pictures of the angel. The Angel started to appear in the real world, the solid world. It could feel the other angel lost in the dark, very close by.
Max saw something from the corner of his eye. Raising his head, Max could see angel there. It wasn't solid, but it would be soon. Max screamed. His voice carried out into the corridor. Someone his the doorbell. The screaming continued. The door opened and a pilot stood there. He touched his commutator and called for help.
Lt. John Matheson called the Captain to let him know something was appearing in Max's office. The Captain and the Doctor both jumped up and headed out.
Matthew and the Doctor found the pilot and Max standing out in the corridor. "Where the hell is it?" demanded the Captain.
"It's in there." yelled Max as he pointed toward his office.
"You left it in there with pictures, didn't you?" demanded the Doctor.
"I got the hell out of there. It can't get out." yelled Max.
"That isn't the point, you idiot!" yelled the Doctor. "It's making more Angels!"
Gideon motioned for his troops to come up. They moved to either side of the door.
Doctor moved up, "They aren't going to be any help." Grabbing one man. "I want you to just stare at what is in there. If you need to blink, you tell someone so they can stare."
The trooper looked over at the Captain. "Captain?"
Gideon shrugged his shoulders, "Do it." Hitting the override on the door, it slid open and they found the angel standing behind the desk and it's hands covered it's face.
The office had been wrecked. "What the hell!" yelled Max.
"Shut up," yelled The Doctor and the Captain.
The Doctor looked at the room. He could see pictures of the angels on the desk. Turning to Max, "Have you been looking at those pictures of angels?"
"Yes, ten," said Max.
The Doctor screwed up his face and counted quietly to himself to keep from doing something to this guy. 'What a pain in the ass!' Looking at Max, "You have to close your eyes now and do not open them again until I saw otherwise." Turning to the Captain. "We have to get him to your Medbay. If he opens his eyes, he will turn into an angel. So we have to knock him out or kill him, no sorry I didn't mean to say that."
"Wait," said Max. "I have to close my eyes or I will turn in to that thing? Nine."
"Yes," said the Doctor. "The Angel has started the countdown. You may not realize that you are counting down, but you just said nine. When you reach zero, you will be an angel."
"Is that possible?" asked the Captain.
"Yes," said Doctor. "To your Medbay."
"Now wait a minute," said Max. "I can't die. I have too many important things to do still. I'm not great enough yet. Captain make him understand, I can't die yet."
Gideon looked at the Doctor and then at Max. The Captain had reached his point today. He punched Max in the face and the man went down. Looking at the troops, Take him down to Medbay. I will be right down there to talk to the Doctor Chambers." The men picked up Max and left. "I'm trusting you on this one, Doctor. Where the hell is Galen? He could be helping with this mess."
The Doctor walked into the office and made for the disk, removing all the angel pictures and then to the computer in the wall. He pulled out his sonic screwdriver and used it on the computer. He deleted a lot of stuff off Max's files. Too bad if it was too much. Had to make sure that there was no pictures of the angel anywhere.
Max was taken to Medbay and given heavy sedation under the Doctor's order to slow down the change. Doctor Chambers couldn't believe what was happening to Max. Then, she did some tests and looked at the screen in shock. She then put him into a medically induced coma so he would remain asleep until she woke him.
The news of Max's stupidity traveled quickly and Galen was soon in the Medbay.
"What happened exactly?" Galen wondered, standing beside Matthew.
Matthew turned, and looked at Galen. He noticed Galen still had a red mark from where Dureena slapped him, and wanted to laugh.
"Max is turning into whatever it was that got loose. Looks like maybe you shouldn't antagonize Dureena." Matthew said, nodding toward Galen's face.
"Now is not the time, Matthew. I believe the Angel images were on a data crystal. I thought I had erased any trace of them."
"I'm not going to even ask how you did that, but I'm grateful. Things could have been worse if not for that Doctor who suddenly showed up. So, what do we do now?"
"I'm not exactly sure but…" Galen paused a moment. He had received an urgent message. Looking at it, he strode out the room to be able to actually, physically, read it, not exactly believing it.
'Galen it's Fed. I know you are properly busy but we are in trouble in the hiding places. I am fleeing for my life with 20 others. Things have gone, literally, to hell. There is a group raving about the Angels of old, calling them the cult of Morrigan. They are insane. The circle is in pieces. I am probably the last one alive. Herazade's dead. What is going on, since all the problems started after your probes went dead. I will need you to give me answers when I arrive. One of them nailed me good. Should have watched my back. I gave back as good as she gave me. One down, 19 left.'
Galen stood in disbelief at what he had just been told. The order was shattered in to pieces and from the inside. Herazade, their leader, was dead and killed by a cult of their own kind. And then everything went from bad to worse. Galen felt responsible. If he
'You said only you and twenty others. How many of us are left?'
'I don't know. There is only twenty that trusted me enough to flee with me. I'm not exactly in a good state myself. I have someone with me though. I trust her.'
'Current, or past, fling kind of trust, Federico?'
'No that would feel like incest. Just send your current position to me. I'll plot a course and pray we are not followed. I know you might be able to handle them but… I saw what they did to… Something happened to get them active.'
'You should find somewhere else to lay low. Here is not exactly safe.'
'Run and hide. Yes, like that has helped you so far dear friend. Even so, I think I will feel safer with you.'
'Matthew is not going to like this, but he will get used to it. You and the others will have to stay out of the way while on board Matthew's ship.'
Galen wasn't sure how Matthew was going to like this many techno-mages on board. This wasn't going to be good. "Matthew, I need to warn you. Approximately twenty more techno-mages will be arriving soon. Something has happened at one of the hiding places."
Matthew took a step back from Galen. "Twenty more like you are coming?"
"No one is like me, Matthew," said Galen.
"Yeah no kidding," said Matthew as he called Matheson. "Lieutenant, I just found out that we are about to be visited by twenty more techno-mages. I don't know when they will arrive, but they will. Let them board."
"Do we really want more of them aboard?" asked Matheson.
"It sounds like we don't have a choice."
Max wasn't sure where he was, but it didn't look in the corner stood one of the statues they found on the planet.
Brothersaid a voice.
Who said that?Asked Max.
It was I said the statue as it moved closer to Max.Your friends think they can keep you from becoming one of us, but you will be one of us.
Max moved as far away from the statue as he could.Like hell I will.
They think making you unconscious will stop the procedure, but it won't. It will be slower is all.
My friends will find a way to stop it, said Max
It wasn't long before the fleeing Techno-mage's reached the Excalibur. There were only three ships in total and Galen was at the docking bay before anyone else fearing the worse for his friend Federico.
Fed was helped down the ramp of his ship by both a human female and a female who looked like a humanoid Cat. Federico, or Fed as he liked to be called, was a strange Techno-mage both in looks and behavior. He had long hair tied back, and a big bushy beard. He was completely unlike Galen in every way. He was dressed more like a bard in a yellow embroidered Jacket and a laced-up neck shirt.
"Long time no see Galen." When Fed stumbled, the ladies steadied him.
"You look terrible, Acate. By the look on your face, there was not much you could do for him so far, correct? " He asked the human female.
"He's lost a lot of blood. I've done what I can for my brother, including stopping him from bleeding out. He needs a blood transfusion but none with us are B-. Truthfully, I'd advise that we do not use synthetic blood. , Hey Fed, you stay awake ok?" She poked Fed causing him to cough and wince.
"Well least I got the bitch back for sticking me in the back. She was a stain on the wall." Fed coughed hard and started to lose consciousness just as Gideon and the Doctor came in. Gideon called the Medlab to prepare them for Fed.
"Galen what blood type are you?" Acate asked.
"I will give what I can. I need you to look at something, or at least someone, before we sort this all out."
"Galen, it's been escalating for weeks. Seeing the Angels just tipped things over the edge. We are all lucky to be alive to be honest. This someone. Who are they and why me?" She wondered.
Galen sighed. "I think you will understand when you meet her or at least you may be able to explain her existence in more detail. I have my suspicions, and I will not be pleased if they are correct." Galen, Gideon and the ladies followed behind the med team, who wheeled Fed. The med team took Fed into the Medlab where Doctor Chambers treated him personally. Even though Fed was badly hurt, he still managed to flirt with her during the transfusion with Galen constantly asking Fed to behave himself.
"Well Captain, he reminds me of another captain I once knew. That captain said hello to anything with a pulse. But, back to matters at hand and dealing with the angel that took hold of your archaeologist. It's not going to-" The Doctor stopped, suddenly hearing a purring sound followed by a hum. Turning, he saw the female humanoid Cat Techno-mage standing behind him with her hands clasped together, swishing her tail and smiling at him. He raised an eyebrow at her.
"Meow, did you say someone was possessed? Meow, I may be able to help you see this one. Meow, I can dream walk this one. I may be able to push it out. May I try?" She was excited for some reason as she stared at the Doctor with her tail swishing.
"Well that's wonderful. But that would be up to Captain Gideon here. If he allows you to do so and-" The Doctor stopped as he watched Galen leave with a woman he was having a déjà vu feeling about. Captain Gideon agreed to let this Techno-mage help Max, if she was able.
"This one needs some time to prepare. This one needs deep concentration and deep meditation. This one needs quiet." She told the Captain.
"Very well. I will do what I can to accommodate you for this dream walking."
"Thank you Captain, Meow"
It was the early hours of the morning and Galen stood outside of Dureena's Quarters with Acate. Acate was still very much in the dark about what was going on with Galen. The man was infuriating and unreadable to her but he rang the bell. When Dureena let them in, she looked like she had not slept.
"I was going to get you. She's got a fever. She's not well at all. Who's your friend?" She looked Acate up and down. The woman was only slightly taller than her, maybe an inch, and she was stunning for a human. Dureena had an odd feeling and wondered if it was jealousy.
"A fever? That can't be possible. Acate can you look at her? Do a full examination? I trust you to keep this from Federico. Do you understand?"
"Of course. I wish you would explain yourself. You are a strange man, Galen." She headed into the bedroom leaving Dureena alone with Galen.
"She's mine Galen. I don't give a damn what you think. She cracked a lock on a box that I own. One that no one else but me could unlock. So explain that to me why she can't be ours. I mean, I've been thinking a lot about this lately." She looked away from him and walked over to a secret compartment. Unlocking it, she pulled something out wrapped in a velvet cloth. It was a sword that glowed under the cloth.
"Dureena, what is-" Galen started to ask.
Uncovering it, she showed it to him. "It spoke to me about you. It asked questions. Ones I could not answer. I think I can now though. I wanted you to know I have it. I also want you to decide what I do because-" Dureena looked at the door to the bedroom where Acate was looking at Sareena.
"Because, I think I'm drawn to you. Now I... don't care about being like you now. I just…tell me what to do. Please Galen. For a long time I've been afraid. I want that future. Do you understand Galen?"
Galen stood there in disbelief at what Dureena was holding. He could hear it chanting over and over. It was an ancient Techno-mage artifact. One of seven. It took him a moment, but he went to recover it. When he touched it, it did something odd.
"Dureena please put it away." His nose was bleeding and every part of his body was hurting. The sword did not like him touching it and it was emitting a noise that was screwing with his tech. It was also causing an unknown problem that his techno-mage system was trying to repair.
She did as she was told and then got him a cloth for his nose.
As soon as the sword was put away, the pain diminished. He held it and felt terrible. Dureena had seen this moment of weakness.
"You need to return it to where it belongs. I-" He took a deep breath and steadied himself. "I'll take you there. What happens then is your choice, but I will not go with you. It doesn't like me."
"Are you ok? You look like you-" Dureena started to say. Galen hushed her when he saw Acate at the door with her arms folded and frowning at him.
"Well the girl is certainly interesting. Care to explain how in Wierden's name you have a hybrid daughter. What's going on? And what is with her nerve system? It's like in the prophecy, Galen. You can't deny it now. Is this why you asked me to try and disprove it? Also, your doctor missed the extra DNA. Whoever the mother is, she's the host to a Narideon. One that the last host was a techno-mage.
I got into the files with Fed's permission. You may want to look at it the experiments. They were barbaric on that race. But your answer is yes. She is biologically yours and she is going to be ok. By the way, we need to find her medallion. She told me she dropped it. I think it keeps her power down. I'd say she rivals even you. I'll go find it. I think the two of you need to talk." Acate walked out leaving Galen completely speechless. At least she came to the point on it.
