Thank you all SO MUCH for the wonderful response on the last chapter. And in return I give you a fast update! I plan to finish this story within the next two weeks before I start my second semester of college.
So about the chapter, I think it came out really well and I'm excited for you all to read it. I hope you all can recall some important information from one of the first couple of chapters, a very minor character comes back.
I hope you all enjoy it!
"This is your room in here."
Beth was led into a small, dreary, bedroom that was occupied buy two sets of bunk beds. There was also a dresser with four drawers, one for each child in the room as well as a single window that let the sunlight in.
"You can have the bottom bunk over there. And you can call me Ms. Maggie by the way," she said. She was Beth's temporary foster parent. By first impression, Ms. Maggie was very nice, she was an older African American woman with short stature who welcomed Beth with open arms.
"Thank you," said Beth.
"I was told that Angie should be back in an hour or two with your things for the week."
The young blonde nodded and cautiously looked around the room some more, "Who else is in here?"
"Three other girls and two boys are in the room next door. You'll meet them soon, they're just finishing lunch. When you're ready I'll fix up something for you too," said Ms. Maggie. She was going to tell Beth the rules of the home but opted not to, the look on Beth's face was very telling and decided to let the little girl be.
The older woman left the room and closed the door behind her. Once the door was shut and Beth was alone, the little girl's body shook and started to let out sobs. Everything was so unfamiliar and she was now with complete strangers for a week. There was no one to french braid her hair, play Go Fish, or to read with her at night. It was going to be a long week.

"Quinn?"
Puck wandered throughout the quiet home in search of his fiancé. Santana left earlier to do some shopping for her new apartment. Ruth, Sarah, and Judy have all been over since the hearing and Finn and Rachel would be over later that night to see them. They thought it would be good to check in on the couple periodically throughout the week, to let them know they weren't alone in this.
He stepped up the stairs and went to Beth's room. Puck knew that the blonde was going in there whenever he had to leave the house. Opening the door he found her lying down on Beth's bed, her eyes closed, but he could see that she had been crying.
Puck walked in quietly, closer to Quinn. "Babe, you awake?"
Quinn suddenly opened her eyes, "Oh," she sniffled and wiping away what was left of her tears. "Yeah, I am," she said. "It smells like her Puck. That strawberry shampoo that she uses, that's what it smells like."
Puck sighed as he stepped into the room, "I just wanted to tell you that I was back from the store."
"Okay," she said. There was a moment of silence between the pair, "It's so quiet in the house without her."
"I know," said Puck. "Only four more days to go."
"Why does this have to happen on her birthday?" Quinn asked. "Actually, why does this have to happen at all?"
Going off of Quinn's growing pissed off tone, he went over to her. Puck laid down beside her on Beth's bed, pressing the front of his frame against her back, his arm around her. "We're just not meant to be happy Puck. It's like fate or God sees us happy and says 'Oh no, Quinn is happy.' 'Puck is happy, we can't have that.' and it's just taken away from us."
"Quinn, if I could make this world perfect for you to live in, I would do it in a heartbeat. I don't know why these things happen to us. But out of everything, we still have her," Puck said as his hand rested on Quinn's rounded belly.
"I know," said Quinn, taking her hand and resting it on top of his. "I'm so thankful for her, and you, but without Beth it won't be the same," she cried. "Even after what I said to the Judge, she couldn't make a decision."
"Hey," said Puck. "We're getting her back. I'm not letting that two faced snake take Beth away. And what you said to her was amazing, Q. She's just too stubborn to realize it, you were right."
Quinn nodded in agreement as she felt a couple of kicks from the growing little person inside of her. "She thinks so too," Puck added, smiles both growing on their faces.
"Hi baby girl," said Quinn.
"She misses her big sister just as much as we do," Puck added.
"What do you think she's doing right now?" Quinn asked him.
"She's probably mocking the whole foster home and telling everyone how much she hates them," Puck said with a laugh, making Quinn do the same.
"Stop trying to make me laugh," Quinn insisted.
"I know, but we both need to laugh when we can."
"She probably isn't doing that," Quinn said. "I told her to be good."

"Hey," said Beth. "Where's my locket and Lulu?"
She had just gotten a shower and came back into her shared bedroom. Beth had changed into her pajamas and noticed that two of her most important things were missing.
She looked across the room at the two other girls who were sitting on the bottom bunk together. "Did you guys take them?"
The two other girls in the room looked at Beth as if she was crazy, "We were here the whole time." Their names were Tara and Caitlin, same ages as Beth, and were both inseparable as well as up to no good.
Beth stomped over to them, "Give them back to me! They're important and…"
The blonde stopped when she noticed that Tara was wearing her locket. The two girls started giggling, "You left it out Beth, finders keepers."
Beth held back her tears, she wasn't going to cry in front of these girls. She wasn't going to back down to them like she did with her cousin Nathan at Thanksgiving. Before she could say something back to the girls, the door opened again and the other young girl who shared the room with Beth, Tara, and Caitlin came in.
"Give it back to her or I'll rearrange both of your faces!" she said, getting closer to them. Without hesitation, Tara removed the locket around her neck and Caitlin pulled Lulu out from under her pillow. Beth took her things and smiled.
"Now apologize to her."
"Sorry Beth," they said in unison as they left the room.
"Are they going to tell on you?"
The girl shook her head, "Nah, they would be too afraid of what I would do to them if they did.
"Thank you Samantha," said Beth as she put the locket back on her neck. Beth actually knew Samantha from school. She was the same girl she had gotten into a fight with over the lunch seat. When Beth first arrived at the foster home, both girls recognized each other but this was the first time they had actually spoken.
"Call me Sam," said the brunette. "Samantha is such a sissy name."
Beth nodded and went back to her bed, placing Lulu carefully in front of her pillow, "Why are they so mean?"
"I'm pretty sure they're jealous that you're getting out of here soon and they're still going to be here."
"Oh," said Beth.
"If they do anything to you again while you're here, let me know and I'll take care of it. Or you can put up a fight with them like you did with me."
Both girls laughed, "I'm sorry about that too. It was your first day and you didn't know that was my seat. I shouldn't have punched you."
"It's okay," said Beth. "So why are you here anyways?"
"This is my third foster home, it's the best one I've been in actually. My dad left my mom when I was a baby and eventually my mom had to leave me when I was two. That's when I was put into the system."
"The system?"
"Yeah, the foster system. You move around to different foster homes until someone adopts you. Kids like me are out of luck because adults want to adopt the babies, they don't like adopting kids our age," Sam explained. "You're lucky to have adults fighting over you and who want you because for me, this is home."
Beth thought about what Sam was saying, how lucky she was and that she wasn't a permanent part of the system. "I want to be with my mommy and daddy though," said Beth. "I miss them."
Sam heard about Beth's situation when she was snooping around Ms. Maggie. It was something she always did, she wanted to know if it was a call saying that there was a family for her. She had jumped on another landline when Ms. Maggie was on the phone with Angie and heard the whole story.
"I'm sure you'll be back with them Beth," said the almost eleven year old. "I'm rooting for you."
"You need to find a family too Sam," Beth said. "Someone needs to take care of you."
"It's okay Beth, you don't need to worry about me. I've been taking care of myself or a while."

Santana put the last dish in the dishwasher and left the kitchen to answer the door. "Thanks for coming," she said, letting Finn and Rachel into the house. She invited them over to talk to Quinn and Puck and had updated them on what happened during the hearing.
"Yeah of course," said Finn. "I tried calling Puck after the hearing but he wasn't answering his phone."
"Quinn either," Rachel added as the couple stepped into the house and followed Santana. "We're sorry that we couldn't be there. We were both busy with work and…"
"It's fine Berry, the less people there, the better."
"Was it that bad?"
"Yeah," Santana sighed as she spoke to them in the foyer. "After the hearing, Puck almost fought with Heather. I've hardly seen them at all since we got back."
"I'm really worried," she admitted. "With Quinn being pregnant, the stress and worry can't be good for the baby…and Puck, he can't even be excited to start his classes in the next few months. They really need Beth back because if not, I don't know what they would do."
"There has to be something we can do," said Rachel.
"Thanks for calling us San," said Finn, pulling Santana in for a much needed hug.
"Thanks," I said as she accepted the hug and pulled away. "I really needed that, especially since I haven't seen Britt in a while."
"Oh yeah, how are you two doing?" Rachel asked with a hopeful tone.
"Well not so great, we talk every now and then but she has a boyfriend now."
"I'm sorry San," said Rachel.
"No don't be," Santana said quickly, hoping that the conversation would end. "I'm looking for someone new anyways but still no luck."
The couple nodded and the three of them walked further into the house, "Where are they?"
"In the living room watching a movie I think," said Santana. "Quinn, Puck, Finn and Rachel are here!"
They entered the living room and spotted the couple sitting on the couch together, Puck's arm around Quinn's frame as she rested her head on his shoulder. "Hey you guys," said Puck, slowly removing himself from Quinn and standing up.
Rachel was the first to hug Puck and exchange a warm smile to the both of them. "Hey," she said. "How are you guys doing?"
"To be honest, not so great," said Puck as he gave Finn a hug as well.
Rachel pouted as she sat down next to Quinn on the couch. Looking at Rachel's sympathetic face, Quinn could feel tears brimming her eyes. "Hey," Rachel whispered, taking Quinn into her arms. "It's okay Quinn, it's going to be okay."
"We're going to lose her Rachel, I know it."
"Now," said Rachel, pulling away. "You do not know that and from my understanding, you have as much chance, probably even more, as Heather does at getting Beth back."
"Yeah," said Finn. "And don't judges favor a two parent household in these situations anyways?"
"With your credentials, it would be nearly impossible for you two to lose Beth," said Rachel.
"I would have never pictured in a million years for Berry to be comforting the HBIC that is Quinn Fabray," Santana said, making the adults laugh.
"We got a smile out of the two of you so I call that a success," said Finn.
"Exactly," said the brunette, taking Quinn's hands into her own. "So we all need to stop crying, especially you Quinn Fabray. You are too strong for tears to take over you. There is also that other little girl of yours to think about."
"You're right," Quinn said as she placed her hand on her bump. "Thank you Rachel."
"It's what friends are for," she said.
"Wait, I'm a genius!" Santana spoke up.
Everyone turned towards Santana and waited for her to explain. "I'm an actual genius, I don't know why I didn't think of this before."
"This better be as good as you're making it out to be," said Puck.
"Oh it is," she said as she pulled out her cell phone. "You are definitely going to be getting Beth back."
Sadness, sweetness and everything in between for this chapter. I hoped you all liked the appearance of Finn and Rachel too :)
So there is only going to be about two chapters left AND an epilogue. I hate that this story is coming to an end because it is one of my favorites that I have created.
Please leave a review, I love all of your feedback. Thank you all so much for reading!
