"So let me get this straight. We have some one who wants me dead, my wife with a broken leg, and the captain and his girl are gone," Tony said as he placed breakfast down in front of Pepper as the avengers piled around the table.
"You're missing one thing," Pepper said as she reached over and put some fruit on Amanda's highchair. She cooed in response.
Tony looked concerned. "What's that?"
"It's Amanda's first birthday tomorrow."
"Are we going to have a party?" Jane asked.
"I think we should," Clint replied. "It'll be something to get our minds off all of this."
"Mumumumumumumum," Amanda said holding up her arms.
"I can't pick you up baby girl. Mummy can't stand right now," Pepper said looking sadly at her leg that was in a cast and propped up.
"Daddy's got you," Tony said as he got up and grabbed her.
"Dadadadadadadadadada," the tot replied.
"That's right. I'm your daddy," he said as a smile spread across his face.
"Alright I'm going to the lab to start analyzing what was left of the drone," Bruce said as he stepped away from the table.
"I'll be there in five," Tony said, not taking his eyes off his little girl.
Clint and Natasha stood up. "We're off to some fitness training. See you later!"
"Bye" Jane said as Tony stepped towards her.
"Here. Can you hold her?" Tony said as he handed Amanda to her.
"Sure...- wait!" Jane said, but Tony had already gone.
"What's wrong fair Jane?" Thor asked.
"I was going to take her to the living room to play with her toys but Pepper can't walk there," Jane said as she looked at Pepper.
"T'is not a problem Lady Jane. If it is alright with you Lady Pepper, I can carry you to the living room."
Jane held in a laugh as she took in the look on Pepper's face.
"I wouldn't want to cause you any trouble," Pepper said, feeling embarrassed.
" It's all fine," Jane said as she began the walk towards the living room.
Thor carefully put his one of his arms and one behind her back and knees. "Ready?"
"Mhm," Pepper mumbled.
He carefully picked her up making Jane laugh and Amanda coo with delight.
"Tony can you pass me the wrench?" Bruce called out.
"Sure, as long as you don't pass me anything. I hate that," Tony chuckled as he through the wrench.
"Thanks, and careful with that. We don't want the "other guy" making an appearance."
"Right on that," Tony said with a smirk.
"If I could just loosen the gage on the back of the torso...," Bruce began while looking frustrated.
"That's pretty small. Dummy. Loosen it. Mess it up and I'll donate you to charity," Tony said to the robot he created years ago.
Bruce laughed. "I don't think that he-," he was cut off as it completely loosened.
"That's a good dummy. Alright thanks. Move on. I'll keep you another day."
Dummy beeped in response.
"Don't you speak to me like that," Tony said as he began to laugh.
"Tony...you need to see this," Bruce said as he hesitantly reached for the pliers and pulled a small charred object from the back of the drone.
"You don't think... it looks like a melted arc reactor." Tony looked at it closer.
"Tony... that's exactly what I think it is, but why is it here?"
"That's what I'd like to know."
"Steve stop it," Darcy laughed as he tickled her. "We are going to miss our flight,"she said as she tried to pack.
"Alright," he said as he began to pack.
"Stop making me feel so bad," she said as she snuck up behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist.
"No promises," he said as her turned around to kiss her.
"Let's go," Darcy said as she pushed him away and grabbed her suitcase.
"Right. I don't want to miss our niece's first birthday party."
