Chapter 35: Buffet Birthday

Murasakibara and I had planned to have lunch together to celebrate his birthday today. I wanted to celebrate his birthday on a dinner date but he will be having dinner with his family members today. We decided to meet up at around 10 in the morning near the station.

2 hours prior, I was selecting my outfit for the day. I wished I would shop for more outfit as the season changes. Even though my closet is filled with clothes, I just don't seem to have the 'perfect' outfit to wear. After rummaging through my closet, I had settled with long sleeves pink blouse, coupled with a pair of jeans, with a light brown coat over it. I carefully do my makeup to a minimal and did my hair.

At 9:30, I was getting ready to leave until my mom called me from the kitchen. I headed over and she was delighted.

"Are you leaving soon to see Atsushi?"

I nodded, "Yeah, we promised to meet up at ten."

"Alright, have fun and please congratulate him on my behalf."

"Okay, mom. Ittekimasu!"

"Itterasshai."

By 10 am, I reached the station. There is no sign of my fiancé. I decided to wait for another 10 minutes before texting him his whereabouts. After 10 minutes, there is still no sign of Mura-kun. I took out my phone and was about to text him before I heard his voice calling out to me.

"Gomen… Did you wait too long?"

"Not really! I was beginning to wonder if you overslept, Atsushi."

"Ah.. gomen."

"It's alright," I flashed a smile at him. "Let's go, shall we? Oh yeah, my mom sends her birthday wishes to you."

"Thank you… By the way, I like your blouse."

Before I could react, Murasakibara held my arms and hands and we strolled the streets. I made a reservation at Sweets Paradise for their 'All-You-Can-Eat-Desserts' buffet last week. I suggested other places for lunch but Atsushi insists that he only wants that sweets buffet, and no other food. He said that's one of the happiest places for him.

As we entered the restaurant, the waitress guided us to our seats. I ordered a teapot of earl grey to complement the sweetness of the cakes that we are about to eat. Mura-kun went ahead and took a plate filled with cakes. I took some chocolate eclairs and pudding. By the time I got back to our seat, Mura-kun came back with another plate filled with biscuits and shortcakes.

"Atsushi, happy birthday. Cheers!"

We ate our lunch and talk about things like our future together. Atsushi doesn't seem fazed by it as he enjoys his treat. Just at the look of him, eating warms my heart inside. If he's happy, then I know I'm happy for him too.

Murasakibara muttered as he munched, "Don't worry, I'm always here with you."

"Atsushi, thank you. It means a lot coming from you." I hid my embarrassment but I could feel my cheeks flushing. Mura-kun's cheeks were showing hints of pink but he pretended not to notice them by excusing himself for another round of desserts. I drank up my tea and look out to the window. When Mura-kun came back, this time it was a bowl of Neapolitan ice cream.

I scooped his ice cream and Atsushi doesn't seem to mind, surprisingly. He was eating the ice cream in an absent-minded mood.

"Atsushi, what were you thinking of? You seemed like you doze off."

"I was thinking back to the time where I proposed you to be my wife… Remember?"

How could I forget that memory? The fancy dinner that was set up and the proposal came as a surprise on a Valentine's Day.

"Yeah, I remembered. What about it?"

"It's been 3 years since, and I have no regret. I know we'll be in a long distance relationship once you go to Harvard… It'll be tough and I want you to be with me…"

"Atsushi, you're my first love, and I'd like to stay with you for as long as I can."

We gave each other a quick kiss on the lips and smiled shyly, knowing that we are in public. The ice cream had melted. I volunteered to go get more ice cream and came back with green tea flavored.
