After two years (maybe more?) I thought this story deserved a proper happy ending. I thank and at the same time apologize to all of those who read, followed, favorited and reviewed this story throughout these years.
I probably wont be writing anything else in the Castle universe, mainly because my interests shifted elsewhere, but I really hope you enjoy this tiny ending piece.
I know that it might feel incomplete, that you may wonder what happened to all the other characters, but the good thing about fiction, is that we can always fill in the blanks with our own imagination.
Lots of love,
~Bea
Kate Beckett lay on the large bed with her Ellie tucked to her side. She was finally home.
It had taken them months to locate all of the children's biological parents and relatives. Never had Beckett-or Castle for that matter-felt such joy with the outcome of a case. Those parents had never lost hope of one day having their babies by their sides, safe and sound.
The awful child trafficking ring had been taken down with a joint effort of several police divisions, the federal government, local communities and even the military and interpol. Records displaying hundreds and hundreds of children had been found and a good amount of them had been restored to their families or put in good shelters and homes. NGO's offered the children free therapy and extracurricular activities-arts, sports, music, theater.
Kate was proud. And she had never felt so fulfilled in her life. Today had been her birthday, she was 35 years old, she had the best boyfriend in the world-a daughter, who she loved more than anything and a new-found passion for life. What more could she ask for?
"Daisy, I really, really love you." Ellie whispered and Kate's eyes filled with happy tears.
"Eleanor, I really, really love you too."
Castle walked inside in his pajamas, his hair was damp from his shower. Alexis followed him into the room with a shy smile. She had the weekend off from University.
"Hey, what about me?" He pretended to whine as he got beneath the covers. Alexis climbed up on the bed as well.
"We love you too you silly daddy." Ellie said with a smile, kissing him on the cheek.
"Hey Ellie, how about we read that book again, the one with the little monsters?" Eleanor smiled. She went to school now and was very proud of her reading skills.
The little girl opened up the book her older sister handed to her, "Where the Wild Things Are" and read it loud and proud to her family.
Kate and Castle locked eyes. It couldn't get any better than this.
