He Chanted a Song
by Sauron Gorthaur
In darkness deep the world was wrought,
In shadows all of Arda caught;
The Master arose in discordant might
To all the Valar's power smite.
In wrath and ruin the world ran red,
With death and darkness, Arda bled,
And Morgoth reigns as king o'er all.
Blaspheme Eru's name and fall!
~o~o~
Through the dark a light pierced true.
The Valar sang their song anew,
And conquered Melkor's song of hate
That could not stand 'gainst Eru's fate.
The Two Trees shone with holy light,
The Valar rule in blesséd might,
And Manwë reigns as king o'er all.
I shall not blaspheme Eru's name and fall!
~o~o~
The Two Trees groaned; their life was spent.
By shadows their failing light was rent.
The Silmarilli sit in Morgoth's crown;
Let Noldor in hate and vengeance drown!
Fëanor spoke his Oath of doom;
Betrayals rank the Elves consume.
The Valar's Curse now holds them thrall.
You shall blaspheme Eru's name and fall!
~o~o~
Battles fought, and battles won,
The chains of Morgoth's wrath undone,
Lands unmarred yet stretch afar;
Realms that bear not evil's scar.
The sun arises bright each morn.
The moon will not be hid or torn.
Mountains still stand and trees grow tall.
I shall not blaspheme Eru's name and fall!
~o~o~
Telerin waters ran blood red.
The haven was filled with elven dead.
Cruel bite of Fëanorian swords
Doomed forever the Noldorin lords.
Tears unnumbered on dark shores lie;
By weapon, by torment, by grief you shall die.
Your kin-red swords have cursed you all.
You've already blasphemed Eru's name, so fall!
