A few days ago, Bartz had fought with Exdeath. He had been feeling down ever since. The light was slowly fading from his smiles and laughter. He blamed it on that smopky black orb that had been thrown in his face. Zidane did his best to cheer him up, but nothing worked. It was as though the black cloud over cloud's head had moved onto him. By the end of the week, he had only gotten worse.
"I'm done for, Zidane," he said as they walked through the woods. "This darkness is going to possess me soon. Then, I'll be your enemy."
Zidane shook his head.
"No it won't Bartz. You just ned to smile. Come on, give me a smile."
When Bartz did give him one, Zidane couldn't help but back away. The expression Bartz had was one of a rapist when he knows his victim has no chance of escape. Definitely not Bartz. He frowned again.
"See? It's over for me."
Zidane went over and took Bartz's hand. If his friend was going to be that way, he'd just have to make sure they enjoyed the rest of their time together. They hadn't gone far when there was a flash of light in front of them. Expecting an enemy, the two leapt into battle positions. Fortunately, it wasn't. They sighed in relief and put away their weapons.
"You startled us, Light," Zidane said. "Don't do that."
The warrior of Light looked at Bartz and extended his hand. His gaze seemed to pierce into the mimic's very soul. When he spoke, his voice was full of seductive power.
"Your light is fading, Bartz. A terrible darkness is eating away at it. If you take my hand, I can save it. Now, come to me."
His gaze locked to the warrior's, Bartz moved forward. Once Bartz took his hand, the Warrior of Light pulled him forward. A blinding light burst from him and Zidane had to hide his eyes. There was a shocked gasp and soon Bartz was panting and moaning. Minutes later, the light had vanished and Bartz's noises died down. Zidane's face was deep red when he ran over to Bartz, who was lying on the ground panting. The Warrior of Light was nowhere to be seen.
"What happened?"
"I'm... not sure, ...exactly," Bartz said between breaths. "My body was enveloped in this warmth. This sensation filled my senses.." Bartz moaned again. "I guess it was about time I got laid again. Though, I wasn't expecting that..."
He smiled at Zidane, who smiled back. The smile held all the light you'd expect from someone like Bartz. The Warrior of Light had kept his word.
