Renamon woke up first that time. She opened her eyes with a small yawn and looked down. Jason was hugging her middle with both arms, his cheek pressed against her belly. She rolled her eyes with a smile as she wiped a bit of drool from the corner of his mouth. She then noticed that Cyrus was not only already up and ready for his morning jog, he was also watching her with a smirk. Gatomon was on his shoulders, her smile mimicking the one her Tamer was wearing.

Renamon blushed. 'What?'

'Oh nothing. You two are flipping adorable.' Gatomon said.

Cyrus then turned around and left before she could reply.

Renamon sighed and shrugged. Looking at the alarm clock on the bedside table, she saw it was 6:38 am. Bored, she absentmindedly ruffled through Jason's hair while she waited for him to wake up. At 7:00 am, the alarm clock rang, startling her for a second before she hit it into silence.

Jason woke up with a snort, looking up at the Digimon before pressing his face against her. 'Mornin'…' He mumbled, his voice muffled by her fur.

'Hey there.' She replied with a smile. 'Sleep well?'

Jason nodded, yawning. 'Yeah… No nightmares… It's been great since we started sleeping together…' He suddenly realized what he said and blushed. 'I-I mean...' He sighed. 'Fuck… It's too early to think.' He muttered while Renamon laughed. He let go of her rolled off the bed to land on his hands and feet. He got up and cracked his back before leaving the bedroom for a shower.

School went by as usual. The Digimon were told to stay at home and wait for them there. Renamon, however was against it: the Devas could attack again at any moment. Finally, they struck a deal: the Digimon would shadow them as close as possible without actually putting themselves on the line.

After school was done, Renamon phased both Gatomon and herself into Cyrus' Buick as they rode off to "Battle Arena".

'Who was the asshole back there?' She asked, half-growling.

Jason sighed. "School went by as usual" also meant Roderick was up to his usual antics. Which meant Renamon had probably seen the scene at lunchtime. 'Just some idiot. I-It's nothing…' He muttered.

Cyrus exchanged a glance with Renamon through the rear-view mirror.

Renamon nodded lightly at him and put a hand on Jason's shoulder. 'Jason, please…' She paused. 'I won't do anything for now. But the next time it happens, I am going in. I don't care if you are surrounded by people. No one hurts my Tamer.' She told them as Cyrus parked his car in front of the shop.

Jason sighed but nodded. 'Okay…'

Pete was behind the counter as usual. 'Hello you guys.' He greeted them with a smile. 'Where are your sisters?'

'They usually go home in the school bus.' Jason shrugged. 'Amy is still in middle school and I guess Kate just likes to go with her friends.' He paused. 'I wonder how Tentomon and Gabumon are doing.'

'I see. Is everything okay back home? I'm sorry I couldn't stop Devimon before he got to you.'

Cyrus crossed his arms. 'I think we are getting the window replaced tomorrow. Until then we are crashing on Jason's place.' He replied coldly. He was still kind of pissed at the Digimon.

Pete nodded. 'So, what's your plan?' He asked, turning back to Jason.

Jason ran his hand over his hair. 'Well, we have at least two steps ahead of us for now. First off we need more people. The more of us we have rallied together, the better our chances to start making enough noise to make a difference. If we are too few in number and make a move, there is a possibility the government might try to capture us and cover everything up. I would like to spend the rest of my days out of some secret military base.' He paused. 'Secondly, we have to formulate a plan on how the hell are we going to make ourselves known and, above all, accepted by the general public.' He smiled lightly. 'We have the anime and cartoon fans behind us on that side so as long as we play our cards right we might be able to meet up with some key players in the industry and persuade them to help us out. After all, you have some people in the inside, right?

Pete nodded, smiling. 'That we have. That's how the whole franchise came to be, after all. In fact, that was our plan originally. What you're saying is nothing new. I meant your plan as in, what are you going to do right now?'

Jason looked at him, uncertain. 'What do you mean?'

'All that talk is great and all. But how do you think you're gonna do that?'

He paused, thoughtful. 'Well… I have no idea.'

Pete nodded. 'Exactly, which is why for the immediate future you are gonna let me handle things. If someone new comes up, I'll let you know. If the Devas send anyone to kick your behind, I'll let you know. But for now you should focus on training. Especially the girls, seeing as they aren't that experienced with battling as you two are.' He paused. 'Well, at least you know how shit works, even if you haven't actually battled anyone.' He shrugged.

Jason nodded. 'I understand.' He sighed. 'I just wish we could do more.'

Pete laughed. 'Oh, you'll regret saying that. Once the pile of freshly squeezed manure starts hitting the rotating cooling device, you will have more work than you can manage.'

'That… That is a terrible way to say that.' Cyrus commented, shaking his head.

Pete shrugged. 'Now. Can I sell you some cards or are you good?'

'Wait, sell? You are still gonna make us pay?!' Jason asked, astonished.

'No shit, kid. I can't just give them away, right? No weapon is free and I need to keep the shop afloat.'

Jason sighed. 'True.' He bit his lip. 'Gimme one of The Real World and another of Black and White Town, please.' He asked, fishing for his wallet and paying up as Pete grabbed the two booster packs he had asked for. 'Thanks.' He said, pocketing them both.

'No problem. Any time.' Pete said with a smile as they turned and left.

They spent a week in Tamer's Village, training their behinds off. Jason coached everyone else, much to Kate's chagrin. He seemed kinda off on the second half of the week though, Renamon noticed. When she asked him about it, he just shrugged and denied everything but she knew something was bugging him.

Kate was sulky and complaining about ninety percent of the time but she eventually managed to pull off something. She and Tentomon hadn't been exactly the closest Tamer and Digimon but at least she wasn't yelling every time the beetle Digimon suddenly showed up. Her house looked like a mansion, only the finest materials were used and the most expensive (and useless, in Jason's opinion) décor was put up. The pinnacle of frivolity, Jason thought.

In the meanwhile, the other six couldn't be closer.

Amy and Gabumon spent all their free time playing. Anima made living dolls resembling various inhabitants of a castle so they could act out scenes, where Amy usually was the loveable princess and Gabumon the brave knight who defeated the scary dragon and saved her. They did switch roles every now and then though. In Amy's words, it was boring to just sit there looking distressed while she waited for Gabumon to save her.

Cyrus and Gatomon were inseparable. The Digimon almost never left the human's shoulders for more than 5 minutes straight. Sometimes you could see Cyrus laying belly down on the couch with Gatomon on top of him, kneading his back like a house cat would. Apparently she gave amazing back rubs. Jason had to admit, he was kinda jealous.

Jason and Renamon were milder about their relationship. Despite being together most of the day, sometimes Jason would need some alone time. Renamon would take a run while Jason laid down in bed, listening to music and staring at the ceiling. When she came back, she'd silently enter the bedroom and curl up next to him, resting her head on his chest and dozing off until she felt him slowly pet her. Most of their time was spent in silence but they didn't need words. For Jason, and apparently Renamon as well, just being together and enjoying each other's company was enough.

On the night of their last day there, after dinner, Jason was playing videogames on the living room couch while Renamon read, her head propped up against Jason's thigh.

'You know…' Jason spoke up, laying down the controller after the fourth game over in ten minutes. His hands were shaking lightly so he linked his fingers together to try and disguise it.

Renamon looked up at him. After a few seconds of silence she poked his cheek. 'Yes? Keep going.' She smiled warmly at him. She had learned that whenever Jason would stall she had to calmly and friendlily egg him on.

Jason took a deep breath. 'I-I've been t-thinking…' Pause.

'About?' She asked, cupping his cheek and rubbing it with her thumb.

He blushed. 'A-Ab-b-bout u-us…' Tilt.

'You're okay. Take all the time you need.'

'W-Well… I-I really e-enjoy b-being with y-you… And y-you h-have been a g-great f-f-friend. A-And…' Block.

'You're doing great.'

Deep breath. 'A-A-And I-I t-think I a-am…' Gulp. 'I-I think I-I m-might've… f-fallen for y-you…'

Renamon looked at him surprised. 'Oh?' She smiled widely, giving a mental fist pump. 'Why is that?'

He grew redder and choked up. 'I-I mean, uh… Y-You're a-a-awesome a-and y-you m-make me hap-py an-'

This wasn't going anywhere quickly enough. Renamon cut him off by dragging him down and planting a loving kiss on his lips before letting go.

Jason was completely caught off-guard, staring at her with his mouth hanging open. 'D-Did that r-really happen…?' He asked, touching his lips.

Renamon shrugged. 'I dunno. You tell me.' She said with a sly grin.

Jason hesitated for a few seconds. 'Yes. Yes it h-happened.' He murmured with a smile, before leaning down and kissing her again.

Renamon closed her eyes and smiled into the kiss, holding him close. When they broke the kiss, she sat up next to him and hugged him tightly, nuzzling his cheek. 'How are you feeling?' She murmured.

'S-Shivering l-like crazy but t-that will pass. Either t-that or I'll p-pass out.' He replied, nestling into her hug. 'Ecstatic. Warm.' He continued. 'H-Happy. L-Loved…'

She smiled, kissing his cheek. 'I'm happy for you, Jason.' She murmured, dragging him to sit on her lap, facing her.

He smiled back at her, gently scratching her behind her ear. 'So…' He blushed bright red. 'C-Can we k-kiss again…?'

Renamon laughed and nibbled the tip of his nose before pulling him closer.

The following morning, Jason woke up in Renamon's arms, their legs tangled together while her tail was wrapped around the two of them. He slowly ran his hand through her fur, enjoying the soft, velvety feeling before pressing his face against her neck puff. It was like hugging a warm, living, breathing teddy bear.

He heard a chuckle. 'Morning, babe.'

'I'm hardly a babe.' He replied, reaching up to peck her lips. 'I'm a skinny noodle of a person.'

Renamon shrugged. 'I don't care. You're my skinny noodle of a person.' She said, giving him a light noogie.

Jason shook his head with a smile. 'I wonder how my parents will react to us being together.' He muttered, slightly worried.

Renamon ruffled his hair. 'We'll cross that bridge when we get there. While I don't think they'd eventually mind much, I also don't think we should tell them right now.'

Jason agreed.

After breakfast, they met up with the others at the Hub, holding hands.

Cyrus just gave them his knowing smile when he saw them. 'Congrats you two.' He said simply, clapping Jason in the back.

Gatomon gave Renamon a toothy grin. 'You work fast.'

Renamon wrapped her arm around Jason's shoulders. 'He was actually the one to bring it up so shush.' She said, sticking her tongue out at the cat.

Amy and Kate were looking at the scene, confused. 'What the hell are you four talking about?'

Renamon raised an eyebrow before turning Jason around to face her, making him jump in surprise, and dipping him into a kiss, just like in the movies.

Amy gasped while Kate looked in disbelief. 'Are you fucking kidding me!?' She asked, crossing her arms. 'She's not even human. You're disgusting! Figures a freak like you couldn't even get a normal girl.'

Renamon suddenly let Jason go and stomped her way to Kate before slapping her squarely in the cheek.

'Renamon!'

Kate fell with a hand covering the rapidly reddening skin, looking at the fox, astonished. Tears were welling in her eyes but she just sat there on the floor, mouth hanging open.

No one had ever done that to her before.

Renamon knelt in front of her, taking her chin and pressing her forehead against Kate's. 'Listen here you cruel little shit.' Her fur was bristling all over, especially on her tail. You wouldn't need two neurons to realize she was pissed. 'Your brother is one of the most amazing people I have ever met. And believe me, I met hundreds of Digimon. He is brave and kind and smart and, despite being challenged daily by bullshit you find easy, he keeps fighting on, one day at the time. He deserves nothing but respect and admiration. So unless you fix your terrible attitude and grow the fuck up, I will make your life living hell the next time you hurt him. Got that?'

Kate didn't reply at first, still shocked. Then she gave the faintest hint of a nod.

'Good.' Renamon let her go and made her way back to Jason, hugging him tightly. 'Sorry… I kinda lost it there.' She muttered.

Jason didn't reply, merely squeezing her tightly for a couple of seconds. 'Thanks though…'

Renamon nodded.

A sudden flash of bright light told them that Kate had gone back to the real world.

Cyrus sighed. 'Good luck with that.' He commented simply before going back.

Jason looked at Amy. She smiled. 'I'm happy for you, Jason. You two make a cute couple.' She winked before disappearing as well.

Jason smiled lightly. 'Amy always knows what to say.' He commented. He then pecked Renamon in the lips before they too went back.

Seven seconds had passed since they entered the mock Digital World, and yet, Kate was already out the door when Jason blinked away the white light.

'I'm going out!' He could hear her yell down below, slamming the front door on her way out.

Tentomon was still in his room. 'I'm honestly so tired of her…' He commented with a sigh.

Jason knelt in front of him and patted his head. 'I'm sorry man. She… She isn't exactly the easiest person to work with.'

'That's an understatement…' He muttered, leaving the room with his head hung low.

Jason just shook his head. 'Fuck my life…'

All was just going to go downhill from there.
