AN: It's been such a long time that I honestly don't even remember the last time I updated. School has been rather hectic that I didn't even think about updating for a while. It didn't help that my ideas for the next chapter didn't work out and I ended up with a HUGE writers block. When I finally checked my email with all your reviews, I felt so bad that I made you wait when you guys actually enjoyed my story. So now that I have some free time, I rewrote some parts of chapters 1-4, I'm hoping that it will clarify some parts that are confusing or off. I'm still not a hundred percent sure of where this story is going but bear with me and I'll try to finish this story the best I can. Sorry for such a long wait.

On a side note though, I've been to Sakuracon and Kumoricon and enjoyed it so much. I can't wait for Sakuracon this year and will be cosplaying as Umaru from Himouto Umaru-chan (I relate to her so much! I'm a complete potato^^) and another character but I'm not sure yet… BUT! If you guys have been to cons then comment what you've cosplayed as or planning. I'm so curious!

Disclaimer: I don't own but I wish I did. Belongs to Rumiko Takahashi and Ohmi Tomu

Chapter 5

'How do I always seem to get myself into these situations?'

Kagome sighed, observing the sight of her brother glaring at her smug bastard of a boss that was leisurely sitting on her couch.

"Yes, it seems he has the flu but I've never heard of a demon being sick….. I see…. Are you sure?... Okay….Thank you, grandpa." Kagome hung up the phone, continuing to stir the porridge for Shippo.

She sighed in worry; her grandfather had reassured her that the cause was because Shippo was going to gain his second tail. That the differences in the air compared to the feudal era was probably why he was much sicker but that he would get better in the next day or two…..She still couldn't help but worry.

Sighing once again, she poured the porridge and honey lemon tea into a bowl and cup. Placing them on a tray, she went to Shippo's room, placing the tray on the small table next to his bed.

"Shippo, your porridge is ready."

Sitting on the side of his bed, she brought him to her lap as she cradled him.

"Mama, I don't like being sick." He whined, burying himself into her arms.

"Oh, honey… You're gonna get better in no time and when you do, you'll have your second tail." She said, kissing him on the temple, "Now let's have you eat something so that you have some energy, hmmm?"

"Hrm…okay….Can you feed me?" He asked, pleading with his eyes.

Kagome couldn't help but smile, "Of course."

It was a slow going process but she enjoyed spending time with Shippo in her arms because she was so busy. They were almost done with the whole bowl when the doorbell interrupted them. She got up, saying that she would see who it was.

Right as she neared the door, she felt a familiar aura. It couldn't be though…. Kagome looked through the peep hole and immediately slapped her forehead in annoyance. How and why? Outside her door was her boss and she honestly didn't want to open the door.

"Higurashi, I know you are home because I can hear your grumbling. If you don't open the door then your paycheck will be reduced for every minute I have to wait." Kyohei threatened, smirking.

'THAT JACKASS!' She fumed but right as she was about to open the door, she froze, remembering her state of appearance.

She had on an oversized cream sweater with black leggings and no glasses. Her hair was also down in a loose braid to the side. She was most definitely not in her normal work attire.

'Oh shit! Glasses! Where are my glasses?' She panicked, running back to her room.

"2 minutes."

'I found it!' She jammed them on her face, not having enough time to change anything else.

"3 minutes….Maybe I should just do every sec-"

He was cut off when the door jerked open.

"Wha-what are you doing here?! I called in for a DAY OFF! You're supposed to be at the office working on the meeting coming up soon! Not here in front of me!" She yelled, jabbing her finger into his chest, breathing hard.

Kyohei's eyes shined with amusement at her reaction and looked at his secretary's rather different ensemble.

"Well, it seems as though you can look rather pretty, now if only you can keep your hair out of that bun at work and take those unattractive glasses off, you'd be somewhat passing." He said as he came closer to her and played with the end of her braid.

Kagome raised an eyebrow in disbelief, "I would be careful, BOSS. You wouldn't want to seem insulting. Also if you come any closer, I can still purify your ass; boss or not."

"My ass, hmm…seems as if you're quite interested in my 'ass' as you put it." He didn't bother distancing himself but rather seemed to get even closer.

"Pfft, as if. It seems your ego is too big to let you comprehend that not every woman falls for your charm. "

"What ego? It's called confidence, my dear miko."

"Ha! Your miko? Well then, you can go shove it, vamp-"

"I would like it if you distanced yourself from my sister." A cold voice interrupted.

"Ah! Souta!"

MIDNIGHTMIKOSECRETARYMIDNIGHTMIKOSECRETARY

"Souta, this is my boss, Touma Kyohei." Her brother glared at him warily, "Boss. This is my younger brother, Souta."

"Hello."

"So what did you need that required you bothering me when I have the day off?" Kagome asked, rubbing her forehead

"The meeting."

"What about it?"

"I need the files and proposal."

"And? Have the substitute secretary do it. It's my day off, I have to look after my son."

"Hn."

"What does that mean?!" She was starting to get frustrated at his vague answers.

"She is no longer needed. We will work on it here." Kyohei answered.

"What?! Uh, no. We are not. What part of 'Day Off' do you not seem to get?"

"She is incompetent and you are familiar with everything."

"…." Kagome had a smug grin as she seemed to understand something, "So you're saying that I'm the best secretary and that you need me."

"I didn't say that."

"Uh yeah, you did. You can't do anything without me, can you?" She taunted with glee.

"It seems that you want me to need you, miko?" Kyohei smirked, as she blushed.

"You- you!" She sputtered.

"Yes?"

"Damn perverted vampire!"

"As amusing as this is. It seems that you know my sister is a miko and that you are a vampire? What do you exactly need with my sister?" Souta dryly inquired.

Both of them froze, forgetting about Kagome's brother in the heat of the argument. 'Damn, I never told him.' Kagome grimaced.

'Damn it, I've let it slip that I am a vampire too easily.' Kyohei thought as he berated himself. But on the outside, he merely shrugged his shoulders and went along.

"I assume because your sister is a miko, that you are aware of the supernatural. I am a vampire and I need your sister's help on the upcoming meeting because her work is acceptable compared to the other pathetic humans."

She sighed in defeat, knowing that Kyohei wouldn't change his mind and that this was an important meeting, she decided that they might as well finish it at her house.

"Fine, but please behave and remember that I still have to take care of my son."

"That should fine."

"Sis…."

She gone to check on Shippo and found that he had fallen asleep. She smiled and pulled his blanket up to cover him properly and then left to check on the guys in the living room.

She sighed at the sight in front of her.

"Souta, can you stop glaring at him? Don't you have soccer practice to go to?"

"Yeah, but sis…"

"Nope, go get ready before you're late."

"Fine….." Souta grumbled as left to his room.

When he finally did leave, Kagome sighed at his protectiveness.

"He's like a little guard dog, isn't he?" Kyohei chuckled to himself.

"Can you not refer to my brother as a dog? I was gone a lot in high school, he's just a little attached."

"Oh? Where would that be?"

"It's not really any of your business but just on a long trip traveling around, I guess…" Kagome's eyes darkened with sorrow.

"Hn," He chose not to push despite his curiosity and decided to focus on what he had come to do. "Well, let's not slack off anymore and have you work on the materials needed for the meeting tomorrow, shall we?"

She immediately scowled at him as she went to get her files and laptop from her room.

'He really knows how to irritate me, doesn't he? I swear it amuses him or something and that stupid hn that's not even considered as an answer….."

She teared up at the alikeness between her boss and a certain taiyoukai.

"Sesshoumaru…"

MIDNIGHTMIKOSECRETARYMIDNIGHTMIKOSECRETARY

'This is worse than at work….' Kagome sighed, feeling Kyohei's gaze on her.

"Did you need something? Because I thought these document needed to be finished?" She gritted out, having had enough of his staring.

He just smirked and leaned over the coffee table, tilting her chin up so that he would gaze into her eyes.

"These aren't even prescription glasses, right?"

"Wh-wh-what are you talking about?!" She pulled away from his grip, trying to gain some space from him.

"Liar. I've seen you working without them once and see no sort of magnification from your glasses."

"I have astigmatism! So I have to wear them, especially on the laptop because I get headaches and such! Aha-haha…" She started getting nervous and fidgeted.

"Why always have your hair so tightly tied then? Why not have it in a braid like now?"

"Uh….It looks very unprofessional, you know. I mean it'll get loose and messy soon. It'll stick out here and there, very unprofessional! I have to maintain a good image, hahahaha…." Kagome just gulped, slowly turning pink as Kyohei kept staring at her.

"Oh ho…So flustered over a simple observation. I'll enjoy changing your appearance to my liking" He stated smugly before reaching to light a cigarette but before he even lit it, Kagome stole it from his grip.

"Ha! Sorry but I won't change just to appease your eyes and no smoking in my home! Shippo is still sick and don't you know how bad those things are for you?"

"Fine…..but those things don't affect me." He sighed, leaning back into the couch.

"You don't know that! Anyways, you came here to work- so work!" She pointed to the pile of papers in front of him.

Pouting, he started to work again and Kagome smirked.

'Good boy.'

MIDNIGHTMIKOSECRETARYMIDNIGHTMIKOSECRETARY

"I need to get started on dinner, Souta's going to be home soon." Kagome stretched her arms and started to get up.

"Hn." He replied, not looking up. He had long since loosened his tie and rolled up his sleeves, they had been working for a couple of hours so far. He had grumbled a couple of times complaining how smoking didn't affect him but Kagome only rolled her eyes and ignored him.

"I'll make some for you as well."

"No need."

"I promise it'll be good." She teased.

"I don't need to eat like you humans." He said, never looking up.

"Oh stop being stubborn, it'll be good! I'm making you some whether you like or not!" She huffed, stomping to the kitchen.

He sighed and leaned back on the couch and continued to look over some papers until he heard a door opening and saw a small child come into view.

"Mama?" Shippo rubbed his eyes, shuffling into the living room.

Shippo smelt a different scent and looked towards the source, finding a dark haired man. He immediately started trembling in excitement when he realized that the man smelt like a hint bats and came to the conclusion that this was his mother's boss. He sped over to Kyohei and sat next to him on the couch, his tails and ears poofing into existence from his excitement.

Kyohei's eyes widened and could only look in surprise at the child. The child had emerald eyes and bright orange hair, the child's tails wagging and ears flicking back and forth. Higurashi had a Kitsune as a child?

'A miko with a demon child…Demons are rarely seen, how?"

Finally growing out of patience, Shippo couldn't wait! He had to ask!

"Do you sparkle?!"
