This...this place...

Where the hell am I...?

This stench...

This foul odour...

The metallic taste...is this...

Blood...?

Wh-why...do I like...this...

I...I can't breathe...

...

Help...me...

The sound of hard panting filled the small chamber and he can barely feel anything. The sounds of chains, the metallic screech of the objects they used, his ears felt like they were bleeding. Curse his hearing ability, how much he wanted to rip it off his head. The sound they make, it was horrid. How long can he last in this blasted room? He felt like he was going crazy with all these noises, it felt like they was so, so close to his ears. Sure he has been beaten so badly, sure he can't feel his nerves, he had gotten used to it.

However, his ears were the one thing he hated to admit, was now a bloody curse! People who has normal hearing would never pick up the small tings and annoying screeches the metal makes. How ironic that this was torture to him rather than the weapons they used. Hearing the same scratching and screeching in this single room, especially when it echoes in this tiny room...the constant beatings wouldn't be the one that will cause him to go crazy, it'll be this obnoxious, vile sounds!

*pant*'...ah... Are they finally done?' *pant*

The clanking noises of equipment being placed on the tables, shuffling of footsteps moving about. He could hear a slight squeaking of the door opening with whispers, he could only manage to pick up; done... back.. his cell.

He was...relieved. He felt two hands grabbing hold on his arms roughly and pulling him back to his cell. He could finally live another day without those noises...not until the week past...

*pant* '...once I get out...' *pant*

*pant* 'you will be the first to die by my hands...' *pant*

Heh...heheheh...

"What the hell are you laughing at you scum!"

Ah, he didn't realise he was snickering aloud, he could also feel a small smirk tugging his lips.

"Leave him be, he's probably going crazy."

"Tch, a person who manages to go into Lady Lucy's home and has no willpower to withstand this..."

Yes...let them think what they want...

The rest of the day Lucy had spend her time with her friends, or at least willingly. She was dragged off by Gray and Laxus to watch them fight in an all out brawl and her as the referee. She had no clue how this had happen. One moment they were making a small debate in the eating area and the next moment both of them slammed on the table babbling something about the strongest. They suddenly dragged Lucy, who was still eating, in different arms and brought her to the arena.

The large scale building from the outside looked like a dome, with its statues of past champions on each pillar showing off the greatest knights in the past generations. Tall torches lit around the dome showing it's grand structure. The weather outside made it look even more spectacular, the Sun blazing down on the dome, the clouds showing no sign of a drop of rain, it was indeed beautiful. Inside of the building however, was even grander, every nock and cranny you could see knights have been using this place. The weapons looked worn but still durable, the place had scratch marks, cracks and even some dented walls courteous by the royal family's strength. Large stained glass showing knights fighting with swords. Weapons, armour, and other smaller rooms which knights would use look far more 'cleaner' then some of the rooms. The middle of the dome is where the battles of every fighter will fight. Solid cement floor and walls with obvious cracks and dents from so many fights. Above the walls of the arena, there were the upper rows that had steps for people to sit on to watch the fights.

Right now those people who are standing in the middle of the arena, Laxus and Gray were getting ready to fight with swords in hand. Knights and trainees had stopped whatever they were doing and were already seated in the upper rows. They had heard the loud ruckus that was going on outside and knew they were going to fight. They even started placing bets on who will win, Lucy saw this as a normal occurrence in this palace.

She sighed and uses her fingers to massage her temple. She knew for a fact that they can be so competitive, she was hoping to enjoy her delicious breakfast in peace. She sometimes wonder why they can't they be like Erza who chooses her fights at appropriate times.

'I mean sure there are time Erza would drag me off and spare with her...saying I needed some self-defence... I mean it isn't so bad...she did almost killed me a few times...' *shiver*

"Oi Lucy! Our referee can't be daydreaming while we are fighting, we need you witness this and when I beat him I'll be the strongest knight!"

Gray snapped her out of her thoughts and saw they had already started their brawl. Swords clashing and sparks flew. It looked like they were really going to kill each other!

"Ha! You the strongest knight? I've won more matches and I'm higher ranked than you, it's obvious I'm the strongest one and I'll beat you here and now!"

*clash*

"Oh yeah? Rank doesn't mean anything if you get outwitted by your opponent Laxus!"

"Heh! Says the knight who fights naked!"

"Wha?!"

Lucy already had her hands covering her eyes, she even shut her eyes closed just to be safe. Half way through the battle he already began stripping, how does he do that while fighting, she wondered if Queen Ultear does it...that thought itself made her have goose bumps. She could hear Gray panicking slightly until she heard a painful grunt from him. It sounds like Laxus had punched him somewhere.

"Damn it Laxus! Is this how you fight your battles!"

"Tch you got distracted, I'm using it as my advantage! If I were a real threat you would've been dead by now!"

"You bastard...!"

By now all reason had been thrown out of the window and no one can stop them from fighting until they exhaust themselves. She stood up from the upper rows, with her eyes still closed and got out of the arena knowing they won't notice her gone.

She gave a loud tired sigh, wondering if she should tell Erza anything about it. If she did both will get a 'lecture' from her...or even worse... She felt the back of her spine tingling and shook the thoughts out of her head. She could let them be for now knowing Erza will find them here.

"Ah, Lucy-nee!"

She turned her head slightly to see Windy waving her arms at her with a large smile. She smiled at the sight and walked towards her.

"Hey Windy, were you looking for me?"

"Yes, Levy-nee and I were thinking if you wanted to read some books in the library? Knowing Laxus-nii and Gray-nii would have gotten you tired by watching them."

Lucky chuckled slightly, "Yes your brothers are really...energetic." Her eyes shifted away from Windy for a split second.

Windy saw that and covered her mouth giggling to herself, "So is that a yes?"

"Hehe, of course. I wouldn't miss a good reading opportunity when I get one. With this lovely weather after the storm is gone, it's a good time to read."

"Yay!" Windy happily held her hand and guided her to the library.

"Have you found anything yet Loki?"

King Ivan and Loki were in the dungeon chamber, sitting on the opposite side of him with the prisoner's pouch on Loki's hand. The other contents were placed on the table in front of them.

"I'm still investigating your Majesty, so far I've found no clues."

"Not even one?"

He shook his head with annoyance, "No your Majesty."

"Hmm..."

Both the king and Loki were confused, even though the king himself said there would be no trial, why would the prisoner go so far just to steal the heirloom? There must be more then what it meets the eye and they are planning on finding more information in secrecy.

What was bothering them the most is how did this thief manage to even sneak pass the special ops. Some mere thief would never be able to get pass the best specialist without having some form of experience.

The king sigh with irritation, "Continue the investigation then, I wish we had more to work with."

"I'm sorry your Majesty, I'm doing all I can to figure out his motives."

"Don't need to apologise Loki. If worse comes to worse, we'll have to interrogate him."

"Yes sire."

It was now nightfall and Lucy was staring at the ceiling with her back lying on the bed. She thought back of today's event, she kind of enjoyed watching both Laxus and Gray so-called spar even though it was for a short while. She enjoyed her hours of reading in peace with Levy and Windy until by the late evening Erza dragged her into doing some training, much to Lucy's dismay and horror. It seems Erza did execute both Laxus and Gray seeing they weren't there during lunch and the red head was probably wanting to blow off some steam using Lucy as her punching bag. Even though Erza wasn't giving her all, she can still feel her body aching and the slight sting of her nerves. She could even hear some of her bones cracking slightly, wincing it every time she hears a crack.

She took a good long shower, changed into her nightwear and was now lying blissfully on the bed. Today had been another 'normal' day considering how things would usually go crazy sometimes. However why had she not felt the least bit tired?

She had been staring at the ceiling for the pass few minutes hoping her eyes would close and her mind will take her off into dreamland. Strangely it didn't happen, not tonight. 'Why though...'

Something was nagging at the back of her mind and she knew who she was thinking of. The crimson haired prisoner. How did he even sneak into her room? Lucy wasn't as naive as most people made her out to be. She has read many books and heard experiences from her...late father... She was just as surprised or even more when everyone including the royal family who found out he snuck in without detection, especially from the special ops.

She wanted to know more of this person, not because of this strange feeling she had. No, there was something about this prisoner had piqued her interest. When the special ops took him away, she decided to use her heirloom making a slight detour of his punishment. Yes she admits she feels really guilty for doing it and she can't help but feel her heart wrenched in pain when she saw him in the prison cell.

However, she wanted to know why he was in her room. She had a feeling that it might be an assassination attempt, but why her? She hasn't done anything wrong so far, and even if she did they were willing to go so far as to kill her off? She knew he was far more dangerous than they make him out to be but yet she wanted to know the reason behind it. She was curious, and it might even kill her to know more.

Her mind was set, she would go and ask him directly. Even though she knows he would not say the real answer, even a small hint to give her clue to who did it. She got out of her bed and decided to go and see the prisoner again. She contemplated changing but decided not to. If anyone saw her wearing something else in the middle of the night, it'll be hard to give a valid excuse. She brought a small pouch with bandages and wash cloth. Even though she didn't need to clean him up, she felt overwhelmingly guilty and she needed to do something for him to help ease her mind.

She held onto her pouch while she slowly and quietly opened the door slightly. She popped her head out of the door and looked around the corridor. The palace was dark with small lit candles on the walls separated from each other. It was dim enough for Lucy to sneak into the prison cell.

She stuck close to the shadows and rushed to the next when light hit her. She was trying to be sneaky and felt that she was strangely successful. Some of the lower knights seem to not notice her, although some slightly higher ranked guards had felt like something was watching them. When they got to close, she had to tiptoed back further into the shadows hoping they would not see her. Luck must be on her side, they would just checked their surroundings and go back to their duties.

She breathe with a sigh of relief, weaving back and forth getting closer to her destination. Even in the dark she memorised the path well enough without having much difficulty. She was feeling rather cocky at this point thinking she was good at sneaking around.

She was close to the main dungeon door, even though it isn't visible in the dark, she could make out the outlines of it. Her palms her beginning to sweat, the adrenaline she had earlier made her feel a sense of accomplishment. Even though her conscious said she shouldn't feel accomplished to be able to sneak around the palace unnoticed, she ignored it.

She gave one last look of her surroundings hoping no one had seen her. She puts her hand on her handle bar and slowly pushing it...

"Lucy, where are you going in this ungodly hour?"
