Alpha and Omega: Family and Friends Are Stronger then Enemies
Chapter Six
The Play Date
Eve smiled as she watched her pups wrestle with each other. She was surprised yet happy to see how much strength Humphrey had gained since his injury from the attack. It would serve him well in becoming an alpha. One thing that was worrying her though was that he and Kate were showing feelings for omegas. Now she had nothing against Jane and Stephon, but, pack law stated Alphas and Omegas couldn't mix. Soon Winston came in and said, "Time to go pups. We're gonna meet with Tony of the eastern pack."
"Okay daddy," the pups say in unison.
Soon they made their way down to the river. There they were greeted by Tony and a pup sitting there waiting for them. The pup seemed a little older then Winston's pups, and with a bit more build then Humphrey. "Winston, it's about time, I was about to howl for you to answer," Tony said.
"Sorry Tony, some of us had a bit of a sleepy start," Winston replied as he motioned to Lilly yawning as she rode on Eve's back.
"No worries, as long as you show up, it's fine. Oh, and everyone, this is my son Garth," Tony said.
Garth slowy made his way toward the Western leaders family and said, "Hi, nice to meet you all."
"Hi, I'm Humphrey," Humphrey said.
"And I am Kate," Kate added.
Lilly's jaw dropped at the site of him, and she nearly fell of her mom's back. "Wow, careful dear, this is our daughter Lilly, in case you were wondering Garth," Eve said as she lowered Lilly off her back.
"H-Hi," Garth greeted Lilly nervously.
"Hi," Lilly said quietly.
Tony and Winston look each other, thinking, 'uh oh'.
"Well, who wants to go for a swim," Eve asked.
Kate and Lilly were all excited and followed their mother to the river. Eve then saw Garth and Humphrey not following. "What's wrong boys?" Eve asked.
"Um, mom, I, I'm scared to go into the water," Humphrey said.
Eve then realized, the bear incident. Humphrey was scared of the bear yes, but she almost forgot about how terrified Humphrey had been when he had fallen through the ice. "Oh, Humphrey, I'm so sorry, I completely spaced that out," Eve said.
She came up and nuzzled her son. Humphrey looked over at Garth and asked, "Are you gonna be mean now like those two grown up alphas?"
"No, um, I... I don't know how to swim. What made you think I would make fun of you," Garth asked.
"Sorry, I guess those two alphas made me think that you were all like that," Humphrey said.
"Kiron and Suko? Yeah, their not the most, um, mature Alphas," Garth said.
"Garth, now that's a little mean," Tony said.
"But it's true," Garth said, making everyone laugh.
"Well, how about I take you to the shallow pond over there, it'll help you get the hang of it," Eve suggested.
"Okay," the boy said.
As Eve took the boys to the pond the girls followed. "Hahaha, Humphrey sure has healed well since our last meeting," Tony said.
"Yes he has. Garth seems like he'll serve well as an alpha, though I am a bit concerned. I have noticed more of your pack has started venturing into our territory, and I know the caribou there are starting to dwindle over there. I don't want to start getting into conflict with you, so I have a suggestion," Winston said.
"I'm listening," Tony said.
As they had their conversation, Eve was helping the boys improve. Kate and Lilly even helped in their own manner. After a while they all got out, in fear of catching a cold if they stayed much longer and shook it off. After a while of playing it was time for the families to head back to their dens in their territories, knowing the hunting parties would soon be signalling for the afternoon kills.
Once they had made it back, they saw everybody gathering for some reason. Winston went on ahead to see what was going on. As Eve and the pups got close, Winston said, "Eve, get the pups back to the den."
"Yes dear," Eve said, knowing she would find out what was going on later.
As she scooted the pups to the den Humphrey asked, "Mom, what's going on, why is everyone sounding like their scared?"
"I don't know honey, but it's probably not something for little pups to hear about. None of your friends were gathered, so I am guessing they don't know either," Eve said.
"Oh, okay," Humphrey said.
Soon they were back at the den and Eve told them to wait there. Knowing all too well their mother was one of the strictest, they obeyed.
Eve ran outside and talked to Winston. "What's going on dear?" Eve asked.
"One of our Alphas, Ronak, he was jumped by a group of wolves. He didn't know who it was, but he's got a sneaky suspicion that eastern wolves did it. He doesn't want to have us take this to them though, for it may be some other wolves. Who, we don't know. But he's badly hurt, I am going to contact Tony and see what is going on," Winston said.
As if on queue, Tony's signature howl was heard. "Or, maybe he'll be contacting me. Don't worry, I'll make quick work of this to find the truth. I don't want to get into a conflict with the Eastern pack. I'll be back in a bit dear," Winston said.
Eve nuzzled him, and said, "If you do find out who it is, rip their tale of and shove it down their throat."
"I'll take that into consideration dear. Be back in a howl," Winston joked before he howled back to Tony, and took off.
Eve went back into the den to see her son and daughters in a wolf pile again, making her chuckle. "Alright you three, it's time to settle down for a nap. The hunting party was delayed so they wont be back for a bit," Eve said.
"But mom, we're not ti..." Humphrey collapsed without warning, unable to finish his sentence.
"We don't need a nap mom," Kate yawned.
"Yeah, sleeping's... for... babies," Lilly said starting to falter on her feet.
"You'll be asleep in three, two, one," Eve said as her two daughters collapsed by their brother.
Eve knew they were bound to pass out after all that practice of swimming. So she gently picked them up by the scruffs of their necks and soon laid them beside her to keep them warm.
She was unaware of what Tony and Winston were talking about at this time.
Well, that's the end of chapter six. I am so sorry I took so long to update. I've been so busy and was focusing on so much, it's been ages since I added a chapter to this. So sorry. I'll try and add another one when I can, but it may be a while. Stay tuned. (I look at the last sentence.)
Wait a second, I didn't type that.
Male voices: No, we did.
Me: (I turn around.) What the?! Tony?! Winston?! What are you two doing out of the story?! And you look a bit different.
Winston: We needed to pick up something before we headed back to our dens again.
Me: Well, what is it, do you want some ham? Steak? Maybe some deer jerky? I'll get you some from the kitchen.
Tony: Did we say something, we meant someone.
Me: Um, and who are you looking for?
Winston: Isn't it obvious, it's you.
Me: Me? But why?
Tony: We have our reasons. Grab Him!
(Winston grabs me by the neck, temporarily paralyzing me, neck down. He then taps his paw and I see something like a portal open up.)
Me: Wait, what are you doing? Wait, no, no, Aah hoo hoo hoo hooey! (I get thrown and sucked through the portal, blacking out from dizziness.)
Winston: After you Tony.
Tony: He'll be in for a surprise when he wakes up. (Jumps through the portal.)
Winston: Indeed he will. (Jumps through himself.)
