A/N; Sorry for the long wait, I kinda felt unsure about my stories so I took a break to think about what I wanted to do. Honestly I thought about deleting my whole account, but I also thought about you guys and how so many of you look forward to this story, so I pulled myself together and got a lot of ideas for what I wanted to do with this story, hope you enjoy.
Chapter 4: Think
Inuyasha sat in a tree thinking about everything that happened. How can I be so stupid? I left Kagome, I left her alone, the woman I love was by herself, and it's my fault. All of this because I wanted to be with Kikyō. I lost Kagome, and Kami only knows what Sesshomaru has done to her. If I wouldn't have left she would still be here, here with me. Inuyasha felt anger and hatred building up, but not towards Kagome, not towards Kikyō, not even towards Sesshomaru, but towards himself. He truly felt disgusted with himself for the first time ever.
Kagome woke up to a strange warmth, she knew that all that had happened was some kind of dream, but when her eyes fluttered open she saw Kenta next to her. She sat up quickly and stared at disbelief as to why he was there, Kenta looked at Kagome and was unsure of the emotions on her face.
"Kenta, why, um, why are you here?" Kagome asked, she felt bad about not remembering and didn't know what else she could do.
"You fell asleep outside, I was securing the perimeter when I spotted you, I carried you inside and you clutched on time when I tried to leave," Kenta answered. Kagome felt a little embarrassed by her act, last night she dreamt of Inuyasha walking away from her and the only thing she could do was reach out towards him, which is probably why she clutched on tightly to Kenta.
"I'm so sorry," Kagome said to Kenta. The young demon simply nodded his head and stood up abruptly and headed towards the door.
"I shall bring you knew clothes," Kenta said. Kagome sat there and slowly brought her knees up to her chest, she felt her chest tighten as she thought about Inuyasha, was it over? Could she really be able to let go of someone who was so important to her? As she thought of this tears started to swell in her eyes and she allowed them to fall freely, she wept and felt her heart constrict as if a snake had slithered its way into her whole being. Why? Why do I have to love him so much? Why couldn't he stay with me? All these questions intertwined there way into Kagome's head and she cried even harder. Rin stood by her door and heard the soft weeps of pain, she didn't know why Kagome was said but she knew she had to do something, she quickly ran to Sesshomaru's office and brushed in the doors without bothering to knock. Sesshomaru looked at and and questioned why she had such a look on her face.
"My lord, come quickly!" Rin said taking his hand tightly into her little one, Sesshomaru did not budge and simply looked down at the girl.
"Rin, what is that is so important that you would go to such lengths to come for this Sesshomaru?" Rin looked at him, but then looked down for a moment as she tried to gather her words.
"Kagome is sad, I saw her crying just now in her room," Rin said frantically.
"What she does has no concern to this lord," Sesshomaru responded back.
"Lord Sesshomaru, please come help. Kagome is very important to Rin, Rin doesn't want Kagome to suffer alone," Rin pleaded. Sesshomaru saw the concern in her eyes and reluctantly complied to the young girl's request. He would not give in to anyone, but for Rin he found that he would go to great lengths to do whatever for her. Sesshomaru walked slowly behind Rin as she ran ahead of him, when he reached Kagome's room Rin had already entered and sat next to Kagome stroking her head gently.
"Kagome please don't cry, Rin and lord Sesshomaru are her to cheer you up," Rin said. Kagome's heart stopped when she heard Sesshomaru's name, she looked up and saw the inuyōkai standing in the door way with his arms in his kimono. She looked away from him and looked down at Rin's worried face, tears were in the young girls eyes and Kagome wiped them away and smiled weakly.
"I'm sorry Rin, I was just a little sad but I'm okay now," Kagome said patting the girl's head.
"Promise? Rin doesn't like Kagome sad," Rin said. Kagome nodded her head, and Rin smiled as she threw her arms around kagome's slim body.
"Rin, can you do me a favor?" Kagome said.
"Favor?"
"Yes, can you make me something beautiful? That would really make me happy," Kagome said. Rin smiled brightly and ran out of the room without replying, Kagome looked toward Sesshomaru waiting for a few moments before she talked.
"Why did you come?" Kagome asked, Sesshomaru looked at the girl for a moment before answering.
"This Sesshomaru does not answer to you or anyone else for that matter," Sesshomaru said.
"If that's the case then you shouldn't have come."
"Wench do not forget you are in this Sesshomaru's home, you shall show some respect." Kagome sighed, she knew Sesshomaru had done nothing, if anything he has only helped her.
"I'm sorry," Kagome said.
Inuyasha walked around the village lost in thought, he didn't know what to do. He knew he had to go after Kagome, to apologize, to beg for her forgiveness but he didn't know where to start looking for her. Sesshomaru could've taken her anywhere for all he knew. He rubbed his head anxiously for he knew not what to do, he sat down in the fields and looked up at the sky feeling as if he were empty.
"Kagome," Inuyasha said quietly.
Kenta walked back into Kagome's room and saw that she was alone, he felt the presence of his lord but knew better than to question it.
"Lady Kagome, I've brought you a knew kimono," Kenta said laying the clothes down in front of her.
"Thank you," Kagome said softly in a barely audible whisper. She waited for Kenta to leave before she sluggishly dressed herself in a plum colored kimono, when she was done she made her way outside and saw Rin picking flowers. Just as she was about to call out to the girl Kagome felt a strong presence behind her and saw Sesshomaru's mother standing behind her.
"You are still here?" Megumi said turning her nose up at Kagome.
"I am here because your son brought me here," Kagome responded back not at all in the mood to deal with any rudeness.
"A lowly human like you should at least be smart enough to know that this is nothing more but a trap to lure Inuyasha here," Megumi said, she knew that it would hurt Kagome.
"I am well aware, why else would I be here?"
"You know you are being used and yet you stay? What a foolish girl."
"Who are you to pass judgement on me? To call me foolish?"
"You pathetic girl, I pity you, even a half-breed such as Inuyasha didn't even want you," Megumi said as she walked back inside. Kagome stared after her and tried to hold back the new tears that were forming in her eyes. She knew all to well that in the end Inuyasha didn't want her.
"Kagome!" Rin called out bringing Kagome's attention to the young girl, she quickly wiped her tears away and walked over to the young girl.
"I've made this for you," Rin said as she placed a rose crown on Kagome's head. Kagome smiled and at the girl then looked up at the sky, she knew it was best to try and get her mind off of Inuyasha but she also knew that was close to impossible. Rin and Kagome played out in the garden for awhile before going inside to eat lunch, Kagome sat down at the table across from Rin and smiled as she thought of how much the young girl had really grown. Sesshomaru entered the room and sat at the head of the table, servants appeared and placed plates of food in front of everyone, Rin and Kagome waited for Sesshomaru to touch his food first before touching theirs.
"Lord Sesshomaru, Rin made Kagome happy!" Rin said as she swallowed a mouth full of her food, Sesshomaru glanced up at the child to acknowledge what she had said but did nothing more.
"Rin, how about I braid your hair when we finish eating?" Kagome said trying to do something nice for the girl, Rin's face lit up and she nodded her head.
"Rin would love that." Kagome looked down at her food and took a deep breath, if I'm gonna put Inuyasha out of my mind I need to do something to occupy myself.
