Becky's Pov
Thoughts in Italics
"I'm so comfortable, you are so warm," I said snuggling closer to him.
"Good I'm glad, but I think I might be a little too warm. Do you mind sitting up for a second so I can take off my sweatshirt?" he said.
"Sure," I said leaning up.
After Adam took the sweatshirt off I settled back against him, while he wrapped his arms tight around my waist. I couldn't get enough of playing with his hands, and fitting them perfectly with mine. As I interlocked our fingers for the hundredth time that night I noticed something that I hadn't before.
"Adam what's this?" I asked with concern in my voice, while touching his left forearm.
"Oh, it's not a big deal really," he said withdrawing his arm from my grasp.
"Nothing? Adam they look like scars, what happened?"
"It's a long story," he said suddenly very sullen.
No this couldn't be happening. How had I not noticed before? He did almost always wear long sleeve shirts. But He wouldn't ever...would he...
"Adam...did you do this to yourself," I whispered.
"I um...let's just say that I wasn't always as happy as I am now."
"Adam...I didn't know," I said trailing off.
"How could you have?"
"Can I see your arm again?"I asked sitting up and turning around to face him.
"Becky, I don't want you to freak out about this. I haven't done it in long time, and I don't plan on doing it again."
"But why would you ever hurt yourself?" I asked my voice breaking.
"I used to do it to relieve some of the pain I was feeling when no one understood me, or accepted who I am. I mean my mom has only come to terms with having a son within the last few months, and Drew had a hard time with it at first," he said looking down at his lap.
"Adam look at me," I said earnestly.
As soon as his eyes met mine, I leaned forward capturing his lips in a powerful kiss. As a pulled away I stroked the side of his face, tears already staining my face.
"Adam, I'm so sorry...I wish I'd met you sooner," I whispered, holding him close.
"Why are you saying sorry, you didn't do anything wrong."
"But I was so horrible to you when I first found out you were transgender. I really just didn't understand, and it kills...me to know that people made you feel so isolated that you turned to hurting yourself."
"Becky, I don't want you to feel sad about anything, you are an amazing person and I'm so lucky to have you in my life. Please don't cry anymore," he said wiping the tears from my face.
"I love you so much, you are the strongest person I've ever met. I promise you will never have to feel alone again," I said placing a kiss on his scarred arm.
"I feel the same way about you."
