"Careful Sam," Tucker cried. "Don't drop it!"
Sam firmly grasped the Fenton Thermos in both hands, and then glared at Tucker. "Gosh, really? It's not like you've never done that before."
Tucker smiled, and stood tall. "Why do you think you are holding it? We Foleys learn from our mistakes."
Sam rolled her eyes. "You must learn a lot."
The Fenton thermos cut off Tuckers response, by bucking like something possessed…by a ghost.
"You gotta admit," Tuck said, once the high-tech thermos stopped shaking, "Her tenacity is admirable."
Sam menaced him with the thermos. "I will do no such thing. Stop chrus-woah!"
The thermos made a break for freedom, wiggling out of Sam's grip, heading for the ground. Sam dove, and caught it.
The ghost containment unit stilled, and Sam rose to her feet. "Ugh, even when she's in here Rose is difficult as ever." Sam clutched the thermos to her chest as it shook once more. "More so even."
Not so far away, Vlad was watching the antics of Tuck and Sam. "I wonder," he said out loud, "If Rose would reconsider my offer if were to rescue her from that infernal device?"
Just as Vlad decided to act, a flash of green light illuminated the alley in front of him. Vlad shielded his eyes. In the middle of the alley way stood a ghost. A knight in full armor stood before Vlad. His grey-blue armor was devoid of ornamentation and sheen. The ethereal warrior glared down at Vlad, as he hid something beneath his breast plate.
"Vlad Plasmius," he said with awe. "So I am when I need to be." His voice sounded like gravel in a blender.
Vlad sized up the knight. "What do you need? Perhaps we can help each other?"
"No," the knight stated. "You are not my liege."
"I could be." Vlad oozed.
The knights orange eyes narrowed. "YOU? My liege?" he said with contempt. "I am Sir Nefas, a knight of Lord Tyranus. My liege is powerful enough to have made a peer to peer covenant of peace with Pariah Dark himself. My liege has never seen the inside of any containment. You could never be my liege."
Rage took over Vlad's face. "I will not be trifled with, again." He shot a giant beam of pink energy form his hand. Sir Nefas backhanded it out of the way.
"Very well," Nefas said coldly. "I have time to kill."
Danny was flying laps around Amity Park. His head was in the clouds in more ways than one.
He wasn't sure what words would best describe how he felt about Rose right now. One part of him was grateful that despite her personal animosity towards him, she didn't seem bent on anyone's destruction. Another part was afraid that that was too good to last. A third part, which he attributed to Ember, still felt the desire to kiss her, though this part was rapidly dwindling. A fourth, also shrinking part, wanted to slap her upside the head for breaking his heart. The final part was curious as to what exactly was her story.
Conflicted, Danny thought. That's a good word.
A blinding flash of orange light interrupted his ponderings. Danny saw something white fly at him from the direction of the flash of light. Danny halted in midair.
So did the other person. However they continued to smoke slightly.
Danny took one look at the ghost in front of him, and laughed, "What's the matter Vlad? Your science experiment blow up?"
The older ghost looked like he had taken a beating. There were cuts and scrapes on him that were oozing green ectoplasm. His eyes were glazed over, and he slowly sank as Danny watched him
Vlad's eyes focused on Phantom. "Actually-"
The rest of Vlad's sentence was cut off as the armored ghost blurred in. Both halfas blinked in unison, astonished by the other ghosts speed.
Vlad put an energy shield in front of him, to block an attack that never came.
"Ah, just the ghost I was looking for."
Danny raised an eyebrow. The knight was talking to him.
"Well, looks like you don't need me anymore." Vlad was off like a rocket, leaving Danny and the medieval ghost facing each other.
Danny sized up his the ghost opposite him. His armor was completely unmarked. He's got to be strong, to dish out a beating to Vlad like that. Especially since he didn't get a scratch.
"Look," Danny said. "I'm really tired of the whole 'I know you but you don't know me routine.'"
"Fear not," the knight rasped. "This will be the last time this happens in your life." With that the hulking specter threw a ball of blazing orange energy at Danny.
Danny dodged the first one. A second sphere followed in its wake; Danny rolled beneath it. The third attack met a blast of green midflight.
"Hey!" Danny cried indignantly. His balled fists began to glow green. "What did I ever do to you?"
The knight clasped his hands together. "Nothing, but you and your decedents will threaten my liege lord." As the knight struggled to draw his hands apart, a sphere of brighter denser energy, formed between them. "Or rather, you would if I Sir Nefas did not end you right here and now."
"Huh?" was Danny's response. "I don't have any descendents."
The Sir Nefas drew his hands farther apart. The sphere grew to fill the space. "Nor will you. Danny Phantom, I am your end." With that the knight thrust the sphere at Phantom.
Danny, jinked to the left. He felt the heat as the shot missed, barely.
The knight clenched his still extended fist. The orange sphere detonated behind Danny.
KARKOOM!
Danny found himself rocketing forward, the knight swung his cocked fist in a vicious haymaker. Danny blocked it, and felt his arm go numb. He put his free hand in front of Nefas's face and released a verdant ray.
"ARGH!" The knight cried, clasping one hand over his visor as the other chopped at Danny. Danny flew back and out of range. Nefas squinted at him, murder in his watery eyes.
Danny swallowed, All I did was make him mad. Danny dodged a volley of orange blasts. If I take one of those blasts head on, I'm toast.
"You have won many fights against more powerful foes through sheer doggedness, Phantom," Nefas growled with grudging respect. "This shall not be one of them; tenacity shall merely delay your fate, not alter it."
"Wow," Danny said. "You think highly of yourself." His eyes began to glow a bluish white.
"No," corrected Nefas. "I think lowly of you."
Hey I am not dead. Sorry this is such a short chapter. This seemed like a good break. If anyone is still reading this feel free to post. Comments are enjoyed.
