Author's note: Hi everybody! So, this is the epilogue of my story, I hope it satisfies some of your questions!

~..~..~..~..

Eventually, the damage caused by the landslides was able to be cleaned up until the family cave was once more safe to use.

Chitza was one of the hardest workers, determined to prove herself as a worthy member of the herd.

Bruno had been wary of his aunt at first, but after living with the heard for a while, he could see that both he and his aunt were beginning to relax, and eventually Chitza was accepted as a member of the herd.

About a month or so later, more members of Marco's former pack washed up on Switchback Cove, and there had been some fears in the heard that Chitza may try to start a new pack, but she proved herself a changed sabre when she was the first to instruct the newcomers of the rules of living the herd life.

Carmen's legs healed, and she was soon running with her family through the forests once more.

One day, she and Nita were in the training area, watching a sparring match between Bruno and one of the newcomers, Maxi. It had been interesting, sparring so many new sabres, and Nita had gladly taught a couple a good lesson in respect after they scoffed at her size.

"You know, Nita," Carmen commented lightly as they watched the match, "it looks like you can have your pick now."

"What do you mean?" Nita asked her sister.

"Well," Carmen smiled, "as I recall, after you beat Kane and Zane into a pulp, you complained about how little choice there was on the island?" She gestured to the five new black sabres, three male, two female. "It looks like you can have your pick now."

Nita shuffled her paws awkwardly.

"I dunno," she muttered. After being regarded as the 'lesser sister' for so long, Nita wasn't so sure about her sister's observation.

"Come on, Nita," Sasha sat down beside her friend. "You could actually have some fun with this, you know."

"Fun?" Nita repeated sceptically.

"Yes, fun," Sasha told her. "You have Bruno, Maxi, Nico and Jordan to pick from, whereas they have you, Ebony, Tania and Tori. And they still have to compete with Kane and Zane," Sasha added.

Nita sighed, rolling her eyes slightly.

"I appreciate the idea, guys," she assured them. "But I'm fine." She was used to being the one that got looked over, and she hadn't noticed any real attention coming from any of the new male sabres, so Nita wasn't all too convinced of Carmen and Sasha's apparent idea that she could suddenly have males fighting over her.

Suddenly, the sparring match took a turn, with Bruno rolling to actually throw Maxi over his head, where he landed hard on the ground. Pouncing, Bruno pinned the other black sabre to the ground, bringing his teeth to graze his opponent's neck.

"Bruno wins," Diego announced.

Panting, Bruno let Maxi up, looking over to where Nita, Carmen and Sasha had been watching.

"Well done, Bruno!" Nita called down, and the black sabre grinned, bowing low to accept the congratulations.

"Show off," Maxi mumbled as he moved away.

Ignoring the jibe, Bruno made his way over to the three girls as a new match between Kane and Jordan started.

"Nice throw," Nita commented as the black sabre sat down.

"Thanks," Bruno grinned.

"Hey Sasha," Carmen said quickly, "do you want a sparring match?"

"Sure," Sasha answered, getting up. "See you two later."

As the two sabres moved off, Nita was able to resist shaking her head, but couldn't help closing her eyes in exasperation.

'That had been really subtle, you two.' She thought drily. 'There is no way that-'

"Hey," Bruno's voice interrupted her thoughts. "Do you want to go for a run?"

"Uh, sure," Nita agreed, getting to her feet. "But you have just had a pretty tough sparring match. You up for a run?"

"Hey, come on," Bruno objected, stretching. "That match was just a warm up."

"Oh, really?" Nita asked.

"Really," Bruno answered firmly.

"Alright," Nita challenged her friend. "Catch me if you can!"

Bruno took a moment to watch as Nita raced off into the forest, before following.

Ahead, he saw Nita jump into the trees and run along the branches. He remembered the first time he'd seen her do that, and his reaction was still the same.

"That is cool," he whispered.

But, little did Nita know, that Bruno had been practicing his climbing skills too.

Jumping along a branch, Nita was surprised to find Bruno blocking her path.

"Caught you," he grinned.

Nita's eyes widened as she regarded the black sabre before her.

"Very impressive," she granted as she looked down to see they were quite high up in the trees. "How did you learn?"

"Well," Bruno admitted slowly, "I did get a few tips from Crash and Eddie."

Nita sat down on the branch, smiling in understanding.

"A pack sabre admitting to learning from a possum," she nodded. "Now that is impressive."

"Yeah," Bruno laughed softly. "I guess I'm adapting well to herd life, right?"

Nita nodded.

After a moment of regarding the small sabre before him, Bruno could feel a frown forming between his eyes.

Ever since she had first beaten him, Bruno had to admit that the sandy-coloured sabre had caught his attention, even if only to himself. The problem was, that she didn't seem to see him at all. Swallowing his pride, he had eventually spoken to Carmen, who had informed him of the events surrounding Zane's slashed face.

Bruno figured that it may not be because Nita wasn't interested, but that she didn't think anyone could be interested in her.

So, he'd tried to talk with Nita more, even learning how to climb so that he could challenge even Nita's skills in the trees.

But even now, while Nita did seem impressed with his learning, he couldn't see a spark of anything. Was her opinion of herself so ingrained, or was she really just not interested in him?

"What is it?" Nita asked, seeing the look on the black sabre's face.

"I'm trying to figure out if you're being distant, dismissive or just clueless," Bruno admitted.

"About what?" Nita asked, confused.

Bruno sighed in relief. "Clueless."

"About what?" Nita asked again.

Bruno smiled slightly.

"Maybe subtlety isn't working," he whispered to himself.

Nita barely had time to wonder what that meant before she felt Bruno's lips on hers.

Heart pounding, Nita felt her thought fly from her head as she closed her eyes.

After what felt like seconds, or possibly hours, Nita wasn't sure which, Bruno drew back, regarding her with a mixture of hope and caution.

"Was that clearer?" He asked.

Nita tried to remember how to breathe.

"Whoa," she whispered.

"Whoa," Bruno agreed, hope replacing the caution in his eyes.

Nita tried to assess how she was feeling. Was she happy about this?

As Nita sighed, Bruno began to feel fearful.

"Nita?" He queried nervously. "What is it?"

Green met gold as Nita opened her eyes to meet Bruno's gaze.

"I think too much," she whispered as she leaned forward to kiss Bruno softly.

Author's note: Okay, that's it! I know these last two chapters were a bit rushed, and I admit I'm not 100% happy with how I've written them, but I've had a few of you lovely readers asking for updates, so I thought I should post these up as is, even though I felt they weren't completely finished.

Many of you were wondering about whether Bruno liked Nita, and whether she would ever see her own beauty, and as this fanfiction is called 'Nita's story' that's why I wanted the epilogue to focus on her.

But, to sum up, here's what's happened:

Chitza is now a member of the herd, after some convincing. She and Bruno are getting along better now as family, though still working on theur 'aunt-nephew' relationship.

Sid, Sally and Daisy are now a family (I couldn't think of a way to incorporate them into this epilogue, so I' hoped I'd made it obvious that that was the direction I was heading in). Granny's happy that Sid has finally found a nice girl- Manny's gobsmaked that Sid has actually found someone who likes him, but is happy for his friend, nonetheless.

Some, not all, of Marco's former pack have arrived on the island and are currently being integrated into herd life.

Diego and Shira are still the leaders of the 'herd pack' and are keeping everyone in line. Diego is especially keeping an eye on Marco and Bruno.

Any other questions, please feel free to send them to me.

I hope you enjoyed my story, and once again, thank you all so much for your support, loyalty and patience as I struggled to get these last chapters up.

Celino.
