Even after all this time

A/N- What I gathered from TVD, is that the sire bond works a lot like the maker/progeny bond in True Blood. In True Blood, you can be released from your bond, your maker just has to say, "As your maker, I release you".

A/N-As I was posting this, I was listening to "Moonlight" by Yiruma. Such a beautiful song.

"Please Elijah! Please don't do this!" she cried.

"Darling I have to", he said.

"But after all we've been thru?" she asked.

"If my life is ever put in danger, I want to know that you're safe", he said kissing her forehead.

"Please!" she sobbed into Elijah's dress shirt.

"Shh, my child", Elijah said, "It will be alright".

"When we first met, I never imagined I fall in love with you", she said.

*1880*

Elijah was strolling around New York, when he saw a small young woman, walking around by herself. He pulled her into an alley and sank his fangs into her neck.

The girl whimpered.

"Do not worry little one. All will be over soon", he whispered to her.

"Death would be a blessing", she answered.

He turned the girl around and said, "Why would a young girl like yourself say that?"

"I am dying. Not like normal people. I have a disease. It kills me everyday", she said.

"I am Elijah Mikaelson", he said.

"Kendal", she said. Kendal was a tortured soul like Elijah.

He could tell. He brought his wrist up to his mouth and bit down. He grabbed Kendal around the waist and brought his wrist to his mouth. "Drink and I will show you the world", Elijah said.

Kendal gently latched onto his wrist.

The feeling of it made Elijah want moan.

Elijah ripped his arm away and said, "Do not worry. I will be here when you awake". Elijah tried to gently break Kendal's neck.

The next time she woke up, she was a vampire.

*present*

"You don't mean that", Elijah said, "It's just the bond".

"It is not the bond Elijah!" she screamed at him, "You might as well just rip out my unbeating heart!"

"Knowing you has changed me", Elijah said kissing her temple.

"Then don't do this", Kendal begged him.

"I must ask you to forgive me for anything I have done to wrong you", Elijah said.

"Elijah, I'll always forgive you", she said.

Elijah held her tight in his arms as he spoke the words that would break her heart. "As your sire, I release you", he said softly.

Kendal cried out and dropped to her knees.

It felt like a piece of her just disappeared.

Elijah leaned down and kissed her head, then blurred away.

"Elijah! Elijah! ELIJAH!" Kendal cried. Her knees gave out and she hit the ground clutching her chest.

*50 years later*

"I have a surprise for you, brother", Klaus said to Elijah.

Elijah looked and there stood his only child at the top of the staircase. Elijah watched as she descended the stairs and he met her at the bottom.

Her chestnut colored hair was curled and her gold eye-shadow made her eyes stand out. The most beautiful hazel eyes he'd ever seen.

"I never thought I'd seen you again", Kendal said.

"Me either", Elijah said. He took her hand and led her to the ballroom. "Why have you come? Are you helping Klaus?" Elijah asked her as they slow danced.

"How could you ask that?" Kendal said, "You know I love you Elijah. Even after all this time. It wasn't the bond".

"I wish I'd never let you go. Do you know how hard it was not to be able to call you? Or track you?" Elijah asked.

She looked him deep in the eyes and said, "I can imagine".

They suddenly realized they weren't dancing anymore.

Elijah grasped her chin in his hands and brought his lips down to hers. "After all this time?" Elijah asked her.

"Always and forever", she said.
