Wicked Way
The dismissal bell rung bringing Ms. Darbus' torturous lecture to an end. Students rushed out the door ignoring her last minute announcements. I made my way toward to the new girl as I approached her Sharpay Evans beat me to it. "Oh my gosh! You're Gabriela Montez aren't you?" Sharpay smiled. Sharpay was the most popular girl at school, well the richest anyway. Her parents come from rich families making her and her twin brother, Ryan, well off. Sharpay's mother is a fashion designer and her father owns a media company. She is a theater enthusiast making her the most involved in anything and anyone that had to do with theater.
"Oh, yeah, I am." Gabriela answered taken back a bit. "I'm sorry, but how did you know that?"
"Girl, how could I not know your name? A friend of my father's went to see a show you did a few years back and told me all about you. Then you made an appearance on one of my favorite shows of all time The Arrow after that I had become obsessed with you." Sharpay grinned.
"Excuse my friend," another girl came and spoke up, "she's a huge fan. Theater enthusiast, she gets all giddy whenever she talks about the art of acting. I'm Taylor by the way." Taylor McKessie one of the top students if not the top student in the entire school. Sharpay and Taylor are two peas in a pod. Sharpay is into theater and Taylor is in the scholastic decathlon. Both, however, are on the cheer squad. Sharpay, Ryan, Taylor, Chad, and I grew up together. In fact, we all live on the same block. Our families have barbeques every weekend and have Sunday dinner together.
"She can sing!" Sharpay exclaimed, "She can sing too! I sing as well." Sharpay flips her hair smiling. "I just have to tell you that you are my ultimate girl crush."
Gabriela blushes "Oh well, thank you. I've never met a fan before." She tries to make her way around the girls, but they follow her out of the classroom. Curiosity getting the better of me I follow them.
"I have to say I'm a fan as well," Taylor says shyly, "Not for acting or singing. Not that I'm not a fan of your acting or singing you're like really good. However, I'm more interested in your participation in the scholastic decathlon. You're an Einsteinette and would really like to pick your brain maybe even have you join the team."
Was this girl a really big deal? If she were why in the world would she go to this school of all places? "I don't know," Gabriela shrugs, "I actually promised myself I would just join one extracurricular activity this year since it's my senior year. This is my last year of high school and I just want to have fun."
Sharpay gasped and clapped her hands, "I have the perfect idea! You should join the cheerleading team! Taylor and I are on the team and it would be amaze balls if you joined as well," Taylor nodded her head in excitement while Sharpay gasped again for dramatic effect, "We could become best friends! How great would that be?"
"That actually does sound fun," Gabriela said thoughtfully, "Okay, yeah, sure, when are auditions?"
"No need," Sharpay quickly said, "This girl quit last minute because she had to move to somewhere I don't care. She's out and you are totally in!" She clapped her hands in excitement.
"We have practice after school every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday until seven o'clock. Every other Wednesday is a black day meaning we don't have practice, but it is mandatory that we meet and do homework." Taylor informs her, "Every cheerleader must uphold at least a 2.5 GPA otherwise that cheerleader doesn't get to cheer or compete during competition season. Principle Makoto made that rule so our school holds it's best academic in the state reputation. Competition season is after basketball season which is great because my boyfriend gets to come and cheer me on."
"Sounds awesome," Gabriela smiled, "Well, it was nice meeting you guys. I'll see you guys tomorrow for practice then?"
"You sure will!" Sharpay smiled back. Gabriela gave one last smile to the girls then turned around towards her class.
Once Gabriela was out of earshot the girls turned to each other smiling and started squealing. "Hey ladies," I finally approached them, "So how's the new girl? She's hot."
"I know! I'd totally go lesbian for her," Sharpay gushed. Taylor rolled her eyes.
"She's really nice and seems really sweet. Too bad she can't join the scholastic decathlon she would've made a terrific addition to the team."
"Yeah, too bad" I feigned sympathy, "Is she going to be hanging around you guys a lot?"
"I hope," Sharpay, sighed, "My life would be complete if I became her best friend."
"Really?" I said with disdain, "You have small ass dreams. Is she going to be sitting with you guys at lunch?"
"I think so, I don't know, maybe?" Taylor said.
"Can you imagine? Me sitting with Gabriela Montez, what could be more perfect?" Sharpay sighed in content.
"You mean us. Gabriela Montez sitting with us," Taylor raised her eyebrow.
"Yeah, of course," Sharpay waved her off.
"Anyway," Taylor rolled her eyes, "why?"
"Oh, nothing," I shrugged, "See you at lunch!" I walked off in the other direction headed toward the direction of my class.
After two periods it's finally free period and I can do whatever I want because I don't have practice today. As I had toward my locker I see the new girl, Gabriela, walk toward the same direction. I slow down to see if her locker is close to mine and as fate would have it, her locker is right next to mine. A smile crept on my face as I walked up her.
Just as I was about to approach her Brody Rodriguez swooped in and put his arms around her shoulders. Gabriela looked up at him and had a big smile. She had the most beautiful smile. I watched them as they continued to talk and laugh his arm still around her shoulders. What the fuck? Are they fucking dating? They turned around walking in the other direction as they walked Cody still had his arm wrapped around her shoulder the she soon wrapped her arm around his waist. What the fuck? There is no way! She is going to be mine!
