Saguru scanned the rooftop. He'd heard that no one ate lunch up here, and was glad to see that the rumors appeared to be true.

Though, I was under the impression that people liked to hang out on the roof…

The detective didn't pay too much attention to the thought, though. He just wanted to focus on the fact that he had a quiet area where he could be alone. Letting the door close behind him, he walked around to the left and sat down with his back to the wall.

Let's see… There's still… He pulled his pocket watch out of his right pocket and clicked it open. 37 minutes and 15 seconds of lunch remaining. That should be plenty of time…

Saguru replaced the watch and took something else out of his other pocket.

Now to save that bloody Prime Minister…

Kaito slowly opened the door to the roof, careful not to make a sound.

I don't see why they're worried. I doubt he even cares about that. He quietly closed the door and looked around. Hmm…Keiko said she saw him come up here about 20 minutes ago. But I don't see…

It was then that he realized he could hear someone crying. It could barely be heard, but…

Kaito looked around the corner and was surprised to see Hakuba holding (Huh, don't remember seeing that when I was at his house the other day…) a 3DS in one hand. The other hand covered his mouth, a stylus woven in between the fingers, as tears ran down from blue eyes that remained fixated on the small screen in front of them. After a moment of shocked silence (during which, Kaito was trying to decide between leaving and acting as if he hadn't seen anything or just come out into the open), Hakuba seemed to become aware he was no longer alone on the rooftop. He glanced over and quickly shut the DS upon seeing the magician.

"Kuroba! W-what are you doing up here?" He turned to the side to place the styler back into the device and return them to his pocket, but Kaito still noticed a hand come up to wipe his eyes. He pretended to not see, putting up a smiling Poker Face.

"Keiko saw you come up here, so she and Aoko started worrying for silly reasons. They sent me up to check on you." Kaito grinned wider at the puzzled look on Hakuba's face. "Yeah…didn't think you'd heard. There's a rumor going around that a ghost hangs out up here. Everyone says they don't believe it, but," he turned and glanced around the roof, "Doesn't look like they care to eat up here anymore either."

Out of the corner of his eye, Kaito saw Hakuba take a slow, deep breath.

"Well, I suppose we shouldn't keep the girls waiting, then. We can alleviate their fears of a specter, too." Kaito just watched as the blond walked past him and opened the door.

"One quick question."

Hakuba froze, one foot already inside the building.

"…Go ahead."

"Why are you trying to hide the fact that you play video games?"

Hakuba glanced at Kaito and raised an eyebrow. Bet he expected me to ask something else, the dark haired teen hid a smirk that wanted to show itself at the thought.

"Because I don't, really. I only like a few types of games and I don't make much of a habit in playing the ones I do have. Besides, it doesn't exactly look… professional," the detective answered, blushing slightly in embarrassment.

"So why was today different?"

"…I don't recall saying I'd answer a second question, but, if you must know, it's because I was almost done with the game."

"Oh…" Kaito thought for a moment, rubbing the back of his neck and grinning. "Hope I didn't interrupt before you finished it."

Hakuba didn't say anything right away, choosing instead to look down at the ground, his hair falling in front of his eyes.

Uh oh…Maybe…I really did?

"…No. I was already done. The credits were just rolling. Now, come on. I don't want to be late to class."

He walked off without waiting for a response. Kaito stood there for a few seconds before shrugging and following. As they walked down the stairs, he noticed Hakuba started choking up about something again. He tried to listen a bit more closely to what the other was saying, but could only make out the words 'top hat' and 'snow'.

A/N Rai: Hmm… I don't think this one's as good as previous ones. I think Hakuba feels… a tad OOC. Oh well, closet-gamer!Hakuba is born! Cookies to those who can figure out the game Hakuba was playing! \o/

Kaito: Took you long enough to write something. :P

Rai: Yeah…well... I got pulled down into (and am still currently in) a fandom that I'd already fallen into at the beginning of the year. Hence we have a slightly random fic with Hakuba playing video games. And *gasp* having feels. *hugs Hakuba*

Kaito: …No hug for me?

Rai: Not right now, no. :P

Kaito: *pouts*

Rai: Thanks to RanMouri82, Assasin8, tigsterz (x2), guest, and kyoneko87 for reviewing. *feels all warm and fuzzy* Just to say, the movies that Haibara was watching in the last chapter I don't believe exist. For all I know, one might be out there somewhere, but three? I'd question society a bit more than I do already…
