Tresses of Silver and Emerald
One-Shot Summary: He saw her first on the Hogwarts express, her long wavy black hair with that single braid along the side of her face, silver and emerald intertwined. It seemed only natural to that she'd be placed in Slytherin; no one expected that she would be placed in Gryffindor. That wasn't the worse part though; the worse part, the thing that irked him the most...she didn't even care.
New Summary: Kagome would admit that the braided colors in her hair were a little unorthodox, being that they caused her more trouble than they were worth, but really, was it anyone's business what colors she put in her hair? Apparently it was. Placed in Gryffindor, with Emerald Green and Silver intertwining in a braid must have been a silent ruling to Slytherins of all forms to torment her unconditionally, because they did...
Pairing: Draco/Kagome
A/N: So, I've gotten a few requests, asking for me to turn my One-Shot "Tresses of Silver and Emerald" into a Chapter Story. So, I have decided without any withdrawals on the subject, to go ahead and appeal to the few who have called for a continual and prequel to this fic.

Kagome was asleep, and Severus was quietly wondering how it was she'd managed to pass out in his office without him realizing it. Years of her sneaking into his study at home and sleeping on his couch across from his desk, he'd most likely grown used to the girls' quiet presence, but at school, he'd have to be more observant.
"Kagome," he nudged her with the back of his hand, watching her curl in on herself. "Kagome, wake up."
"No,"
Her muttered reply was hardly expected, but he smiled all the same at it. "Do you plan to sleep in here the whole of the night? I'm certain Dumbledore will become suspicious of my moral standings should you be caught in my study after hours."
Kagome opened her eyes and yawned, stretching as she sat up. "I don't want to go to classes. The students here all suck."
"They suck? How do you figure?"
Kagome glared, standing up and putting her fisted hands against her hip. "The duffers are to lack in intellect, they can't focus on their subjects to save their lives, and spend the whole of their classes staring relentlessly at me, or simply insulting me or criticizing me. That and..."
Severus raised a brow, "...and?"
Kagome shook her head and crossed her arms over her chest, "...like Draco has pointed out, I'm worse than a mudblood. My Blood is far dirtier than any mudbloods...he just doesn't really quite how dirty my blood is yet."
"I wouldn't say that," Severus frowned, "though, I find it hard to dictate just whose blood is dirty and whose blood isn't."
"What do you mean?" Kagome asked.
Leaning back against his desk, Severus crossed his arms and stared thoughtfully at Kagome, "Take anything I say out of this room, and I'll not only deny the conversation taking place, I'll be the one who disposes of your body in an endless void that's non-detectable by magic."
Kagome nodded vigorously.
"If I were to explain my words, the best way would be to give you an example, for instance, Granger."
"...Hermione?" Kagome tilted her head to the side, sitting back down on the couch as she did.
"She is a...mudblood..." Severus spoke the word with disdain, the look of disgust on his face showed his view on the use of that particular word. "However, she is also one of the...dare I say...brightest witches I've ever the...privilege...to teach. She has more potent magic in her wand than Bellatrix Lastrange, she need only learn to use it, and she'll be a master of her trade...whatever that may come to be. Labeling someone a mudblood, or dirty blood, doesn't make them better or worse than one with clean or pure blood. As for what I know you meant, your father's blood doesn't make you, Kagome. You chose to be placed in Gryffindor, not Slytherin, I know that the Sorting Hat was about to place you in my house and you requested Gryffindor. That right there makes you different. You aren't alone, though."
"How do you figure?"
Sighing, Severus closed his eyes, "from what I was told, Potter was also going to be placed in Slytherin, for reasons I'm not yet one hundred percent certain. Yet...?"
Kagome smiled, "yet he's a Gryffindor. He asked, just like I did?"
"Perhaps not the same choice of words, but it had the same results." Pushing himself off his desk, Severus moved towards the lounge couch and kneeled down in front of Kagome, "don't put too much thought into anything these adolescent minds think to call you. They don't know you, or what you are going through. No one does...not a teacher or student in this school. If you have something that's on your mind, come find me, I'll always be there to lend you the services of my ear and advice...for whatever that may be worth."
Kagome nodded, "which is more than you may ever know. Thank you, Severus!" She leaned forward and hugged him tightly before letting him go and grabbing her satchel. "I'll head out first, have a good rest of the night!"
A nod followed her as she left through the door of his office and he straightened back up. He stood silently staring at the door, shutting it with a small wave of his hand as he did. "Granger isn't the only one...who's got the ability to take on the world...Kagome..."

Me: So this is how it's all going to work. I recently wrote down the name of ALL OF MY UNFINISHED STORIES, on pieces of paper, folded them and put them in a container. I shake it, and then draw one. WHATEVER I DRAW gets written, and then placed back in the container. I can't redraw. Now...I WILL UPDATE FOR SURE! Next up is "Misfits Living in a World on Fire"! See you all soon!
