The Investigation

By your-biohazardous-friend

"ah, Lee Ping (…) following clues, making connections… such a clever boy (…)" /Radcircles, Season Two trailer/

Lee felt uneasy in the dark, seemingly abandoned house. Of course it was just temporarily empty – the man glanced over the family photo standing on his desk and smiled: his wife was in Poland making a documentary about Polish Cipher Bureau which the first cracked Enigma ciphers, while their daughter was staying over the Martinezs' house for a sleepover. Lee had a whole night for himself, or more precisely, for his work: to follow clues and connect dots. Yet he couldn't focus on the task at hand in all the stillness and silence of the house. It distracted him more than his wife's nagging him to go to sleep or his daughter showing him the newest picture she had drawn.

Lee Ping felt very, very old even though he was just barely over 30 years-old. The whole Logo conspiracy was draining all the energy of him. Ping glanced again at multicolour pattern of wool strings, pins, newspaper articles and photos. He sighed heavily, threw pencil on the desk and massaged his temples. In the 10th grade, when he just started the whole ordeal, the same investigation took him one pin-board, hidden behind "Space Zombie Flu" movie poster. Now he had a whole wall covered with cork panels, literally, caked with clues and speculations he had collected over the years yet still he didn't even scratched the surface of the conspiracy - it was like catching a fish with bare hands. Right now Ping didn't feel like the best investigating officer of Canadian police he was credited for – The infamous "Canadian Sherlock Holmes" as media's nicknamed him.

Lee bended over his swivel chair. After finding what he was looking for - a head covered with red bristle and scales - he petted the animal. The Red Tazelwurm hissed pleased from his heap of rags, wool sweaters and stuffed animals which played a role of it's bedding located under Lee's desk.

'Red' had been Ping's companion every since the man was in 10th grade. He gladly let the creature stay in his home for it's retirement as the school mascot. Truth to be told the Tazelwurm was less and less lively as his whiskers turned whiter and whiter. Yet it was still capable enough to be Lee's daughter's 'guard' or police officer's silent supporter in restless, investigation fuelled, nights.

"hey buddy" Lee addressed to the creature as he rose from his chair "wanna brownie?"

The Tazelwurm hissed in question like manner.

"yeah, she brought a few from Brandy's cake shop before she left to Europe"

Even though 'Red' didn't have many facial expressions, Lee could feel the happiness beaming from the creature. Just as him, the animal loved anything made of chocolate – especially brownies. The police officer stretched his muscles, emitting a long yawn. Then he disappeared in dim corridor leading to the kitchen. The retired Tazelwurm followed him silently.
