Jeremiah ran with the other two behind him. His paws beat against the ground as he moves through the trees towards his destination. The place where his own doppelganger is. Matthew definitely changed with his help and grew strong. Stronger than Jeremiah. The kid just needs to realize it.
"Jeremiah," a female in the group and only vampire doppelganger Jeremiah could find of himself spoke up. "We're not alone."
"I know," he snarled into his companions minds. "He's not far behind. We need to get to them before he does."
"I'm not so sure this will work, Jer," the other member glanced around in fear. "I can feel his aura. He's thrilled and knows that you will meet again."
"That's exactly what we want," Jeremiah snorted, grinning with his snout before howling. He needed to let Matthew know he was coming. Their little mind game ended as soon as the kid changed so he has no idea what's going on at the college. "We just need to get there first before he gets his doppelganger and kills my other doppelganger."
"Violet," the third member gazed at her, "can you sense any other vampires in the area besides Adam?"
"No," the red head spoke softly, eyes narrowing behind her spectacles. "We already know about Arthur being at the college with some other students being whatever supernatural being they are, but-."
She instantly stopped speaking and gasped as her violet eyes widened. Jeremiah didn't stop running though the other member reacted the same way. His curiosity grew but knew it probably had something to do with that idiot brother of Matthew's.
"Another vampire has appeared on campus," Violet stated.
"A-And they're n-not just any o-old vampire," the third person trembled as they still ran with the other two. "They're not j-just a vampire. S-Something else about their aura…"
"Does it feel similar to Adam's aura?"
"U-Unfortunately, yes. B-But…it seems stronger than Adam. C-Could it be that his doppelganger…?"
Jeremiah grinned. He howled once more, knowing exactly what was going on over at the college. Arthur no longer would be living alone, but he has to deal with Adam's doppelganger for the rest of their eternal life.
"Just as I hoped. We might actually have a fucking chance to rid this god forsaken world of my bastard of a brother. Now," he glanced at the other female that came with him, "Maddeline, do you have enough power to teleport us over to the campus so we arrive at least a day or two earlier?"
"I-I do," she glanced at her twin sister from another era, "b-but I'm merely an a-apprentice, still. Alice never f-fully taught me e-everything before you arrived."
"Candi is way more advanced then that blonde little bitch," Violet hissed while conjuring a blue flame in her hand. "She even taught me how to handle magic though I'm a vampire."
"B-But y-you're from several centuries ago! Alice a-and I are from this era!"
"Knock it off, girls."
Jeremiah's acidic tone stopped their bickering for the time being. Violet clucked her tongue before bringing the blue flame towards her red hair. Her original hair color was like the other two doppelgangers with her – a dirty pale blonde – but once she became a vampire, her hair turned red like the blood of her victims. With the flame cast onto her hair, the red locks turned into blue flames. They sizzled and swished in the air as they still ran.
Maddie gaped at the high level of magic a vampire doppelganger could possess. Insecurity overwhelmed her but she knew she had to stop being a wimp. She inhaled air into her lungs until they were full, then proceeded to whisper an incantation. This will be one of her biggest tests of skill, and with enough confidence, she could just pull it off.
"Ianuae Magicae!"
When she shouted those two words, a light blue circle appeared under their feet and paws. The transmuting circle glowed as the three ran through the woods. Violet grinned as her hair sparked in reaction to the circle. She cackled in realization, her laugh echoing through the woods as their forms disappeared from the spot they last stepped on.
Vampires are Real
Everything was so cold. Nothing seemed to warm me up in the darkness I found myself in. I didn't feel much besides the cold. I wasn't sure if my eyes were open at all but I knew I wasn't in my world anymore. If anything, I was probably in between life and death.
Arthur probably drank more blood than he meant to. Was this the process of changing into a vampire? I hope so. I don't want to be trapped forever in the cold black abyss I'm in.
Suddenly, a sharp pain ripped through my chest. I screamed, feeling every sensory neuron on my skin flaring up. My body felt like it was burning from the inside out. Something wasn't right.
"Bloody hell!" A familiar voice echoed in the darkness. "This wasn't supposed to happen. Shite." Arthur kept swearing and mumbling to himself. "Alfred, you bleeding twit, you better not die from an allergic reaction!"
I continued screaming as waves of pain caused me to curl into a ball. As my mouth stayed open, the taste of a foreign liquid entered it. My eyes snapped open and widened at the taste. It was terribly sweet. I yearned for more. Grabbing the source of the liquid, I drank as much as I wanted.
The world soon shimmered away from black to the living room of Arthur's dwelling. My eyes focused onto the couch my legs were stretched on before glancing down at the wrist my hands grappled. My mouth covered a portion of the skin and I realized I was sucking blood from the limb. After a couple of more seconds, I soon released Arthur's hand and backed away.
Panting, I held my chest where my heart is. I licked my lips, noticing two new teeth in my mouth with sharp edges. Bringing a hand up, I poked one and caused my finger to start bleeding.
"Git," I heard Arthur next to me. His uninjured hand grabbed mine and brought it closer to his face. My eyes watched the movement, widening as I see him pop my finger in his mouth to suck my finger. I felt a warmth spread on my cheeks as his tongue lapped up the blood and closed the tiny whole I made in my skin. He soon let go of my finger, his green eyes locking with mine. "Don't instantly go hurting yourself with your fangs."
"Fangs?" I blinked at the word. Looking at myself, everything seemed clearer through my eyes. My senses felt heightened as well, more so than before. Realizing this, I instantly covered my ears as loud noises banged against the drums. "Agh! The hell?! Why is everything so loud?"
Muffled from my hands covering my ears, I hear Arthur hum. "You seem to have gained heightened hearing. Extremely powerful. Stronger than my own ears."
"I had this even before I asked you to change me!" I whined, curling up in pain from the splitting headache I've gained. Voices entered, shouting louder than the surrounding sounds in the area. They weren't voices I've heard before. I panicked, shaking my head. "Now I'm hearing voices!"
Arthur's hand laid on my back as he came closer. "It seems whatever powers you had before turning is doubling now. You might even have new powers after this as well. It will all die down soon, love. You'll get used to it."
I wailed quietly, head pounding from the conjoining sounds and voices. When a certain voice popped into my head, everything else ceased sounding and the pain disappeared. My eyes widened at the voice I heard, body trembling from what it said.
"Death to all in my way!"
The tone was so devilish it made me shudder. It didn't help that it laughed while saying those words, like enjoying the thought of killing everyone. I'd be terrified to come across that man, but I have a bad feeling that I just might see him in the end.
"Alfred?" Arthur's voice snapped me back into reality again. I glanced at him and noticed his worried look. "Is the pain gone already?"
"Y… Yeah," I answered quietly, rubbing my head. "It all just…stopped after I head a certain voice." I looked up at the wall, the direction I know the voice came from. "He'll be arriving in a day or two. We have other problems to worry about, though."
"Yes," Arthur nodded. "We need to get to the metting."
"Not just that, Arthur," I steeled my gaze in another direction. "We'll be having guests coming soon. If they don't come before the meeting, they'll appear during or after the meeting."
"What?" He gave me a quizzical look. "The devil you saying, Alfred?"
I stood up, ignoring his question for now. "Let's go. Everyone's probably- Nn!" Pain came back and caused me to crouch down to the ground. The voices were back. "Crap."
"Alfred!" Arthur instantly came to my side but I held a hand up to him. "Alfred, don't be stubborn. You've just changed and-!"
"I can handle it," I smiled at him forcefully. "I can just – Nn! – Tune them out."
"You can't," Arthur insisted. "You can come to the meeting, but I won't let you do much. You need to rest and rejuvenate, but no more blood. Not yet." He patted my shoulder and slowly helped me up. This time I didn't refuse his help. "Just take it is, git."
I chuckled, nodding as I began walking to the gymnasium, where the meeting would be. Arthur, as my crutch, walked beside me. I held a hand to my head, coaxing and massaging the pain away as best I could. Willing it away didn't seem to work, though. After reaching a point in our slow trek, I couldn't take the noise anymore.
"Just shut up already!" I shouted in my mind.
The voices subsided once I did. A few whispers stayed but they were tolerable. Exhaling a sigh of relief, the pain alleviated. Once I felt better, we were near the entrance of the gym. Before we entered, a voice replied to my shout.
"How were you able to hear us speaking? Who are you?"
I blinked in surprise at the response. "My name's Alfred. Who could you all be?"
As the door opened to the gym, silence fell in my mind. I gazed at the huge group of people in the gymnasium. I soon spotted my brother with Francis, both fully clothed once more. Just as Arthur started guiding me over to them, I realized that everyone there eyed me.
"You are our savior," one of the voices spoke up again. "The one to fulfill the prophecy set out since the beginning of time. The defeat of the first man. Adam."
In surprise, I quickly replied. "I thought Adam's brother was supposed to kill him?"
"He is merely a part of the prophecy. His role is to gather those who are willing to fight beside him and see to it that the hero of this world does not die at the hand of Adam."
"Say what?" Confusion swept over me quickly as I tried to stay in reality while speaking with the echoing voices in my head. "You guys never answered my question about who you are."
"We are the victims of Adam's doppelganger killing spree," all the voices spoke in unison. "We are all previous versions of you. And we are willing to help you, give you all of our strength to defeat him in the battle that has yet to come."
As soon as they stated that, everything turned mute in my head. I blinked into focus of reality, feeling myself being set down in a chair. I stared up at Arthur, seeing Matthew coming to my side once my soul-mate went over to Francis.
"Are you okay?" Mattie asked, kneeling in front of me.
The room filled with talking once more before I nodded. "Just a headache," I chuckled slightly. "Is this everyone?"
Matt nodded. "Yes. We'll be starting now since you're here."
I glanced around the room, familiar faces sticking out while other faces were strangers to me. "It seems they're surprised I'm here."
"Well, they don't realize yet that you've changed," my brother scanned my body over. "It happened, right? I mean, I can smell that you're a vampire now, but did it happen?"
"Yeah, it did," I sigh. "Pain in the ass. Hurt like hell going through the change."
"Now you know how I felt," Matthew grinned slightly before standing up again. He turned his head to the group of friends he's been with since the start of the semester, frowning. "It seems that some people are terrified of you."
Confused, I looked at everyone subtly with my eyes while still facing my bro. "How come?"
"Because," Arthur came up to answer the question, "we can all feel the power you emanate for your body."
"Oui," Francis nodded, crossing his arms as he kept a small distance from me. "You are by far the strongest vampire newborn I have known. So strong that we can all feel it."
"Including us," a deep voice reverberated through the gym. Everyone turned to see three new face that all seemed similar. The tall man between the two girls grinned as he pulled up his hockey stick and rested it on his shoulder. "Have you been waiting long? Or did we get here just in time to start making plans?"
"Jeremiah!" Matthew gasped as he stepped forwards. "What are you doing here?"
"You didn't think I'd let a bunch of weak piss ants fight against my brother without me, did you?" He snorted.
The crowd murmured in disapproval of his insult. The shorter girl next to Jeremiah stepped beside him and laid a hand on his arm.
"Don't be like that, Jer. We're all here for the same thing."
"I'm surprised you're still standing, Maddie," the other girl snorted, putting one of her hand on her hip as the other brushed through her flaming blue hair. Which, by the way, was fucking awesome to witness.
Jeremiah ignored the two as they talked but nodded to them. "These are Maddeline and Violet. They're female doppelgangers of Matthew and I. Violet is a vampire mage while Maddeline is a sorceress. Meanwhile, I'm a werewolf. The first ever created werewolf, so all you wolves in here better bow down to your alpha."
He growled at the crowd and those with werewolf blood cowered or stepped back. Except Matthew. He growled right back at his doppelganger.
"This is no time for a battle of dominance and title, Jeremiah."
"Mattie's right," I stated. Everyone looked at me as I finally stood up from the chair I was sitting in. I noticed Maddeline step behind Jeremiah while Violet tensed up in a stance. I sighed. "We need to start discussing how to kill that bastard who brutally murdered all of my doppelgangers in the past and endangered many others around them. If we don't, he'll surely come and kill us all."
Arthur stepped up and looked at everyone in the room. "Everyone here is part of many different supernatural species," he loudly stated. "If you would do so quickly, separate into the different sections of species that you are. Vampires gather near the south bleachers. Werewolves near the west…"
As Arthur instructed the students and teachers into different groups, Jeremiah walked over to me with the other two behind him. He eyed me and I stared back. A grin rose on his face and he snorted.
"Don't let us down, idiot."
He then walked towards the werewolf section while the other two split into the vampire section and witch/wicken/wizard/sorcerer/sorceress section. I sighed, realizing that the fate of the world is literally on my shoulders. I'm not doing this alone, however. I have the entire college on my side along with Adam's friend. I also have the strength of the past doppelgangers that have stayed behind after their deaths.
Note: It's been a long time since I've looked at this, or at least it feels like a long time. I completely forgot some of the plans I wanted to use for this story, like the secondary group that had more than one person in it (mentioned in the previous chapter). I didn't remember who I wanted them to be, so I just rolled with the idea that came to me. I also have a lot more other ideas to prolong the ending. I'm conflicted between ending it the way I wanted to or to add a whole different section to prolong the ending. The one ending has little violence, besides what's expected, with a quick happy ending. The other ending has an unexpected event that will include a lot more violence than what's expected with a slightly troubled yet happy ending. I'm leaning towards the latter, but I'd have to think how to go about it and study a couple of things before writing it all out. So, instead of ending on chapter 10 or 11, it might be 13-14 or even more than that. I'm not sure. Let's just see how it goes.
This isn't beta-ed so there might be mistakes.
