Life isn't always easy. No one ever said it was. Everyone has trials and tribulations to overcome in order to become the people they need and want to be. Sometimes the person who you aspired to be as a child is different from the person you are as an adult. Which is the outcome of the choices made along the way. Expectations of what is wanted in life as a child is almost completely different from the reality of who you become later on.

The choices made in life have an impact on the person you become. They don't necessarily have to be the choices you've made. They could be choices that the people you surround yourself with have made. Your family, friends, coworkers or the environment you're in. All of these factors have an impact. Which is why in life you have to figure out when it's time to let go and cut ties with certain aspects in your life in order to be able to become who you aspire to be and make the change you need.

The brunette couldn't help but snort as she agreed with the first paragraph of the advice article in the magazine she had picked up at the gas station the night before on her way into town. Life wasn't easy and it never would be.

Whoever said it would be was clearly a liar or high on something, she wryly thought as she placed her coffee cup in the sink noticing the time on the microwave.

Quickly flipping the magazine closed and setting it on the dining table. Knowing she only had a few minutes to spare if she wanted to make it to her new work place on time. Set her into a quick pace just managing to gather her things, get out the door and on her way to St. Thomas, the local hospital and her new workplace, in record time.

"Has anyone informed the family?" Doctor Knowles, a brunette in her late 20s, questioned from the doorway,

"I don't think so," Mackenzie, the redhead a year or two older than herself, answered briefly looking up at the doctor.

"I'll go inform them then," Doctor Knowles replied turning to walk away before being stopped by an older gentlemen with gray hair.

"Let Carolyn inform them I want a second opinion on the treatment for this case," he stated motioning for Dr. Knowles to follow him.

"I can finish up here," Mackenzie said dismissing her. "Family will be down with the mother most likely."

"I found these matches next to a bunch of her empty thumb bags," Gemma informed them as they walked down the hospital hallway. "Hairy Dog."

"Shit, got to be the Nords dealing out of the dog again," Clay stated.

"Darby got out of Chino two weeks ago," Bobby supplied the information following after Jax.

"Yeah well call that Nazi prick and set a meeting," Clay said before they came to a stop outside of Wendy's room in the ICU.

"What the hell happened?" Jax asked seeing Wendy unconscious in the room.

"The toxicology reports aren't back yet but her hands and feet are full of track marks but it's most likely a crank overdose."

Jax turned to look at the person who had answered. Noticing a pretty brunette with brown eyes standing a couple of feet away from them.

"The baby?" he questioned noticing Wendy's smaller and almost non existing stomach.

"They had to do an emergency C- section," she informed him before looking at the rest of the group. "He's ten weeks premature."

"Holy shit," he muttered looking back at his mother before seeing the look on the brunette's face.

"There's more isn't there?" his mother questioned.

"Why don't you follow me to the waiting room down the hall and sit down," she suggested starting to turn around to walk away.

"Just tell me," he said not wanting to sit down knowing there was only bad news to come.

"He's got a congenital heart defect and a tear in his stomach," she informed them. "And gastroschisis, a tear in his abdomen. The gastroschisis and the early birth are a result from the drugs but the CHD is probably-"

"The family flaw," Gemma answered.

"It's genetic yes," the brunette answered. "And either one is serious on its own but not life threatening but the both of them combined…" she trailed off before softly informing them of the other news. "Dr. Namid gives him a 20 percent chance and I'm afraid that's being optimistic."

Carrie knew the news she bore was awful and the optimism of the baby pulling through wasn't enough to give the family hope. But that still didn't mean that a miracle couldn't happen.

She felt bad seeing their reactions and knowing that the only thing that they could do would be to approve the doctor's treatment approach and pray for a miracle that everything went well and that baby pulled through.

"Dr. Namid wants to go in and fix his belly first," she informed them. "Then if he stabilizes he'll go in and try to repair the heart. I'm sorry this isn't the news you were hoping for but I can take you to see him now."

She turned around walking to open the door only to stop, as the door swung open, realizing that the blonde in the kutte wasn't following. Instead he was walking away.

"Jackson," the older brunette with highlights called out after him.

"Go with her," he called back in response briefly turning around to point at her but not stopping as he continued to make his way out of the ICU.

Walking into the Hairy Dog Jax was beyond pissed. His ex-wife was laid up in the hospital from an overdose and his son was paying the price from her continuous drug use.

Grabbing a pool cue, he quickly slammed it into the guy responsible for Wendy getting the crank before continuing to beat him.

"You sell crank to my pregnant ex-wife?" he rhetorically questioned before slamming the pool cue down between the guys legs.

Letting out the anger he had before Chibs pulled him off the guy.

"Stupid peckerwood shithead," He stated before leaving him on the floor for his buddies to pick up.

"Enjoy your lunch," Jax heard Bobby utter behind him. "Shish-ka-balls are on me."

"How are you settling in to out wonderful little town of Charming?" Mackenzie, or Kenz as she preferred to be called, questioned as they made their way into the parking lot.

"I haven't really had time to actually be out and about yet."

"Right, you barely moved completely moved down here yesterday," Kenz said unlocking her car. "Have you finished unpacking?"

"Yeah finished last night," Carrie answered knowing it was a lie since almost everything was still in boxes.

"Cool so that means you're free to go out and enjoy what Charming has to offer. So how about we meet up for lunch tomorrow and I'll give you a tour of this small, quaint and charming town."

"Sure that sounds great," she said before they quickly exchanged numbers before getting into their respective cars and going their separate ways.

She had gotten home and taken a bath before deciding that she should stop procrastinating and actually unpack her belongings in order to make her apartment feel like an actual home. While thinking back to that morning's magazine article as the days events came to mind. Proving that life wasn't easy. It could be unfair and cruel but it could also be beautiful and filled with hope.

Carrie knew that, she just didn't know how what life had in store for her in Charming. But she knew that whatever happened she just had to make the most and best of every situation.
