I hope you all enjoyed The Jungle Movie. I know it has been approximately forever since I wrote this fanfic about the kids prom, but after watching The Jungle Movie tonight I decided I really wanted to finish it. Here it is; Arnold and Helga's Prom.

Helga didn't like the idea of prom. It was completely antiquated. Arnold wasn't really into it either, in fact it seemed like everyone around them was far more invested in the evening then they are. Helga stared up at Arnold's dark green eyes while fascinating a boutonnière to his lapel. When did he grow taller than her? His grandparents cooed while his parents, still adjusting to today's technology, fussed with their camera phone. Big Bob was no where to be found, but Miram did stand quietly in the corner of the Boarding House living room. It had only been about a year since she had sobered up and started attempting to make up for lost time.

This night was supposed to be a fairytale; one night of perfect bliss, but they had already found that sometime ago. So what was prom night supposed to be about? They posed together. Arnold gave her hand a gentle, playful squeeze and she did her best not to sneer; old habits die hard.

She wore a blush floor length gown. He wore a dark blue suit with an ice blue tie that matched his tie. He thought about skipping prom all together. But he had a feeling that Gerald would be crowned King and he'd like to see that. There were still a lot of questions rushing through his mind, all to do with next steps. Helga had received a full scholarship to study English Literature. He had a few options, to study in San Lorenzo University where he had received grant money and scholarship, to take over the boarding house so Grandma and Grandpa could retire, or to go to school with his friends and pursue his doctorate in archeology.

He couldn't fathom leaving her. Although she still scowled and was ripe with mood swings, she had made progress. She could love honestly and truly. She slowly stopped hiding all her feelings. He couldn't help but hope their next steps they would take together.

Stepping inside his Grandpa's packard, he turned to her; "Where to?"

Helga furrowed her brow, annoyed at this inquisition. "Where do you think?"

"We have a little extra time." Arnold assured her.

She looked at the clock on the dashboard and smiled. "Yeah, I guess we do."

They weren't the only ones who had the idea to go to the pier. It was filled with kids, not much older than they were, when they first realized the extent of their feelings for each other. They go to the end of the dock where they spent many evenings at. They hold hands, sway and suddenly they find themselves in the place neither of them really wanted to go that evening. But seeing everyone pair off is reward enough. Arnold images the great careers Phoebe and Gerald will have. King and Queen, it won't be long until they are king and queen of this city.

They were able to escape early. Phoebe and Gerald were indeed crowned King and Queen. Rhonda shrieked when it was announced. Curly made a scene. They didn't have to make an excuse not to join the after party. They tried to escape the rain and run to the Packard. Helga found herself tripping and breaking her heels. He caught her just in time. He embraced her, ignoring the hotel emptying out behind them.

When they return to the boarding house, it's very quiet. Arnold senses that everyone, the adults, Abner, even his classmates, know exactly why they slip out early. But this doesn't bother him, it's part of nature. And this was always meant to be.

Helga is wearing his jacket over his shoulders. She is more nervous then she has ever been, and she can't believe that it was actually Miram that got her on birth control.

"We don't have to do anything." Arnold says softly as he holds her to his chest in the quiet darkness.

She looks up at him resting her chin on his chest. "What's going to happen after this?" she inquires.

He squeezes her. "I don't know." he admits. "We had more experience at 11 then most people had in a life time."

"Well now we are 18." she declares. "What happens now?"

He doesn't have the right words. "I guess...one adventure at a time. So long as we can do it..."

"Together?"

"Yes, together."

She smiles and chuckles. She pulls out her locket, a much smaller one then the one she always used to carry. She opens it to a picture of Arnold when he was much younger. She looks up at him. "Stupid, football head."

He untied the straps from her dress as she reached out to cup his chin and kiss him. It was one, long soft kiss. Her dress fell just to expose the tops of her breasts. He cupped one in his hand and she softly moaned against his mouth. He kicked off his shoes and tried not to break the kiss but found himself struggling to remove his shoes and pants. They lay together under the sheets just breathing in sequence together. He kissed her tenderly. She reached up and grasped his hair as he rolled on top of her.

"Are you sure?" He asked quietly.

She smiled softly and nodded.

He parted her legs with his knees and leaned his weight into her until he slowly sunk into her. She tugged on his hair and let out a low moan. He kissed her and tried to move slowly but they couldn't help but move against each other. When she started to shake, he couldn't help but erupt. When they caught their breaths, he rubbed his nose against her. She laughed quietly and held him close, not wanting to let him roll away. When he finally did roll over she snuggled against his chest.

"You know," he said suddenly, chuckling. "I like you, like you."

She'd spend the night and somewhat shamelessly try to sneak out the fire escape the next morning. She was smart enough to remember to leave a change of clothes with him so she wouldn't have to sneak out in her prom dress. She'd leave that in his closet. It really was the perfect prom dress. And some years later she would find it, the same place she left it.

"Look what I found." she would say one morning before breakfast at the boarding house. 10 years later, Arnold's room would not change much, besides an extra desk across from the foldout couch where Helga would have her work station. Helga was about to take a sabbatical from work to join her husband abroad in Central America. It wasn't so much a sabbatical, but a desperate change of pace.

"I loved that dress." Arnold will say back to her. "But not be the best thing for the rain forest climate."

"Douy." she snarks back.

They here the cries of children downstairs. "Do you think it will be alright?" he asks. "While we're gone?"

She sighs. "Well, although I never liked Lila," she starts. "I am glad her and Stinky are back, and I think if they can run a farm, they can certainly run a boarding house."

Lila and Stinky have three children now and they all live in the boarding house. Rhonda is renting two rooms, one for living quarters, and one for a studio in which she shares with Sheena, her loyal assistant. She stopped talking in the years after Eugene's death, but has found herself again in her fashion. She has softened Rhonda, and together they will make history in 5 years time when the Loyd Fashion Empire goes public. Harold will come over that evening with steaks from the butcher shop for their whole extended family that they will grill on the roof top.

Helga sees Phoebe twice a week for coffee. Decaf, now Phoebe is with child. Gerald has won both terms of city council election. Arnold's parents are still young and vivacious, teach at the local college. He misses his grandparents fiercely. When Pookie died last year, Phil fell right behind her. Olga has had some moderate success as a soap opera star. Miram and Bob have retired comfortably. No one expected Beepers to make a come back in the 21st century, but they did.

"I'm glad you're coming with me." Arnold says softly.

Helga smiles to herself, tracing the outline of her old locket. "Me too."

"Another adventure?" He inquires.

"Always."
