Hello! Hopefully this chapter is to everyone's liking!
Karin was walking through the lower portion of the Hokage's tower, headed to the lab when she received an incoming transmission from Kabuto.
"Yes Kabuto?" She answered, stopping mid stride to lean against the wall.
"Karin, is everything prepped and setup for the holding chambers?"
"Yes of course Kabuto. Everything is in order."
"Very well. Just checking in. As you know, we are expecting them back any moment tonight." He continued sternly.
"I understand Kabuto." She replied, while rubbing her forehead from stress.
"Good. We cannot afford any mistakes this time. Our jobs, and maybe even lives are at stake here," he huffed out frustratingly.
Karin sighed ," I will not disappoint." And with that, Kabuto cut the line.
Karin continued the remainder of her trek to the lab. Once there she got working on gathering the various vials and syringes they were going to need once Sakura and Naruto were back.
Further below Karin, deep underground was the cage area. Ever since the destruction caused by Naruto's escape, they had taken a while to rebuild it. The tunnel leading from the elevator to the massive door had been repacked and enforced with thick concrete. The monitoring rooms on either side of the tunnel, reinforced as well. When it came to the massive doors, they were rebuilt and reinforced with shimmering diamond engraved steel.
Deeper inside past the massive doors, Naruto's "cage" had been reconstructed. Still around the same size, however there were now two separate rooms on either side of the waterfall. One of the rooms contained a large steel table with shackles and chains, with various surgical equipment cleanly laid out all around the table, and a shower and large tub; a birthing pool.
The other room was mostly barren but contained shackles and chains connected to the wall, with a single pelt in the corner. This room had a clear view into the birthing chamber, by way of a large rectangular window that stretched from one end of the room to the other.
Each room had a replica of the 4th Hokage's special teleportation kunai embedded within the middle of the ground.
These rooms were each to be receiving their victims soon.
Kakashi eyed Sai wearily as he picked up Sakura and gently laid her on the ground.
"ANBU," Kakashi called out to Sai. "How many can go through the portal"?
Sai paused, "well, the plan is to transport Sakura and I with this kunai. Only two can pass through the portal. Once two have passed, it will close."
"So the plan is to have only you and Sakura go through. And what about the rest of my men and Sakura's teammates?"
Sai continued, "yes, that brings me to my next task, bestowed upon my by our Lord Hokage." Kakashi rolled his eyes.
"I am instructed to give you this other teleportation kunai, and you, ANBU and Sakura's team are to use it to lure the beast through and it is to be teleported back into it's cage back at home. It's fine if it's just the beast that goes through, after a few minutes of one person going in, if there isn't a second person, it will still close."
Kakashi paused , " are you aware of the death toll that entails?!" He shouted, causing some ANBU and Sakura's friends to tune in on there conversation. "Think clearly ANBU. We have just stolen it's mate and it has been chasing us for the past hour. We may not all make it out unscathed. And for what, we all are just supposed to walk back once he gets through the portal?"
"Oh come now, there are 12 of you total. Surely that will be enough to complete the mission. And yes, that is the plan. Once the beast is through, you may take a moment to rest but the Hokage will want you back. Unfortunately I cannot aid with my birds, since I will already be gone by that time," Sai exclaimed nonchalantly.
Kakashi grabbed Sai by the collar of his vest , "ANBU! I will not stand for you putting my men and inexperienced ninja's in immediate danger!"
Sai angrily threw back, "you disobey me, you disobey your Hokage. And that is insubordination Captain," he spat out the last part. Kakashi stared through his mask out at Sai hard, the tension thick in the air.
Sai smugly continued, "I am not leaving yet. I plan to hold Sakura here as long as I can, and use her as a tool to get the beast to follow through to the other portal. Once it see's Sakura in my arms, I will simply leave through my portal. Since it goes off of stupid instincts, I'm pretty sure it will charge and that leaves the rest of you to take that moment to send it through the portal. It won't be as challenging as you think."
Kakashi couldn't believe what he was hearing!
He shoved Sai back harshly. "Unbelievable."
Sai scoffed and began working on making sure he had everything packed up. He busied himself with collecting his scrolls from his released ink birds, as Kakashi walked towards the edge of the platform. Kakashi stared off into the distance, towards the direction they came from. The moon was high in the sky, casting an eery glow over the dense forest below.
The shadow clone Sakura was approaching Naruto. She had a piece of real Sakura's fur mixed in with hers. She could hear the distant roars getting louder.
She came to a halt. Breathing in, she gave a convincing cry of pain. Immediately the roar stopped, and there was a confused high-pitched whine that responded.
Sakura waited in the forrest area, slumping against a tree. It seemed like a few minutes before she heard rustling above her. Suddenly Naruto sprang from the tree line and expertly dropped to the floor, looking at her curiously.
The clone was startled a little by Naruto's appearance, the boiling chakra cloak, his blood red eyes, and 5 tails were enough to give anyone nightmares...
Naruto sniffed the air, and yipped excitingly. He started to slink towards her, his body language displaying apologetic for his earlier actions for leaving her. His chakra cloak dissolved but his five tails remained.
Sakura scooted back a bit out of fear, causing Naruto to falter and stop his advance.
"Naruto. Can't you see...that's not her."
Naruto shook his head and growled, trying to shut up Kuruma.
"Don't you cut me off brat! It doesn't matter to me what happens to her!...just don't let these stupid fucks fool you!"
Naruto started to shout back and growl at nothing in the distance.
The clone was even more scared and tried scooting back more.
Naruto saw this, and pounced on her, knocking her down to the ground. He gave her a sweet smile and started to nuzzle under her throat. He pushed his nose into her neck, and inhaled deep. She closed her eyes, hoping he couldn't smell through her.
The clone was frightened and stood stock still as she could feel a deep rumble reverberating through Naruto's chest. It got louder, as Naruto pushed his head back and locked eyes with her.
Having a hard time communicating with his current state, he managed to growl out, "Wh-where is my mate?!"
The clone couldn't take it anymore and managed to shove Naruto slightly off of her, enough to scrambled to her feet.
Naruto growled menacingly and tried pouncing on her again, which she evaded. She pivoted and took to the trees, leading an angered Naruto even closer to the area where Kakashi and team were.
Ino approached Kakashi. "Look, uhm Captain. How can we help?"
Kakashi sighed. "This is not how I planned things to turn out," he exclaimed looking back at Sai who was busy talking with a few ANBU.
Kakashi turned his attention to Ino. "Look, I understand Sakura is your best friend. But I want you to understand, there is a high chance that you or a few of your teammates are not going to survive this evening if we encounter Naruto," he muttered quietly.
Ino was very uneasy as the reality started to settle in. She realized Kakashi is the Captain and he is very strong, but he cannot take on all of the remaining ANBU with just him and there wasn't enough time to try and come up with a plan to try and get the rest of her teammates involved.
"What can we do?"
Kakashi shook his head, "prepare your teammates for battle. We are going to engage the true enemy when Naruto arrives. We will utilize the ANBU's underestimation of Naruto's lethality to our advantage, and I believe we can strike at that moment."
"But what would that accomplish?"
Kakashi continued in an even lower tone, " I can manipulate those two kunai's to work in our favor, and allow a few of us back. We will sacrifice the ANBU and only me and your teammates will travel back, and leave Naruto here with Sakura. We will go back, but all the remaining ANBU will stay..."
Ino gasped quietly, tears welling in her eyes. She couldn't fathom the idea of leaving Sakura behind, even if this Naruto was no harm, she didn't want to lose her best friend again.
"You cannot hold onto her selfishly," Kakashi commented, almost as if he could read her mind.
"Iruka and I have planned all along to leave Sakura in the care of Naruto. They are meant for each other, and we have to let them live their lives."
Ino sighed, " I understand. It's decided, I'll tell the others. Please lead us all safely back home."
Kakashi felt the burden get even heavier and his heart clenched, knowing that it was highly possible not all of them will make it out alive.
He was left to run scenarios in his head for possible solutions for the best outcome.
Ino went back to her teammates and quietly explained their situation and what to anticipate. They all agreed and heightened their sense to be on high alert.
Naruto could see a large tree in the near distance. He had dispersed the shadow clone earlier and knew the real Sakura was being held captive in that tree.
"Naruto! Slow down Naruto! Give up Kit"
Naruto growled, ignoring Kurama's yelling and pushed further. Sakura's scent was growing stronger, and so was the stench of ink to his displeasure.
He reached the base of the tree and gave a chilling battle cry, to frighten his opponents. His claws glimmered in the moonlight, as he began his ascent up the tree. His chakra cloak covered his body in a thick bubbling heat, searing everything in his path.
At the top of the tree, Kakashi, ANBU and team all were prepared. Sai held onto Sakura bridal style, knowing that he'll have to keep her close in order to stay protected from getting attacked.
Ino and teammates were frightened but ready with their weapons drawn.
A deep guttural growl reached their ears and all eyes were on the outer edge of the platform they were on.
A boiling clawed hand came over the edge, then another. The ground sizzled and charred as a dark and deadly Naruto hoisted himself up.
Ino gasped, and so did a few other of their friends.
Naruto crouched low and snarled, acidic saliva dripping from his lethal jaws.
But before he could pounce, his movements stopped as his eyes locked onto an awake and frightened Sakura that had a kunai to her throat. She was standing in front of Sai, and had both her hands on Sai's forearm that was clutched against her throat.
She gasped for air and tried to speak.
Naruto's eyes widened at his situation, then he roared, causing everyone's ears to ring.
"I wouldn't come any closer you demon!" Sai yelled, kunai pressing closer to Sakura's neck, drawing blood.
The moment Sakura's blood hit Naruto's senses he lost all sense of control and pounced. All hell broke loose.
His first victim was an ANBU. Faster than the ANBU could react, Naruto stabbed through their gut. His claws gripped the ANBU's intestines and tore them out. The ANBU screamed inhumanely and started to gurgle and vomit blood, removing the mask, she fell onto her knees and stared in horror at Naruto who's eyes were black and blood red. Her face was deathly pale, and before she could utter a word to plead for her life, Naruto lunged and ripped her throat out with his fangs.
Tenten screamed, causing Naruto to hone in on her. Before he could reach, more ANBU came up and engaged. Naruto ducked as a few ANBU came at him with swords. He ducked and parried by grabbing one of the sword wielding ANBU by the stomach and sprang into the tree branches out of sight. There was a harsh yell then sickening crunch. Blood, followed by a hand attached to half a forearm came raining out from the leaves and branches above. There was a stabbing sound and yelp right after. Everyone focused on the branches and leaves above, as they could make out which rustle of leaves were Naruto from the smoke and sizzling sounds from the leaves being burned. The searing rustle of leaves sprang back at the bundle of bloodied leaves. Clanging metal could be heard as the ANBU was still engaged in battle with Naruto, trying to fend off the lethal claws that were aiming for his throat. After a few clashes of metal, there was a thick crunch and snap. More blood rained down, along with Naruto. He hit the ground hard, tossing the ANBU's severed head away in hatred.
Right after he tossed the decapitated head, he lunged at another ANBU. His jaws clamped over their armor-clad arm. The ANBU retaliated by shoving a kunai into Naruto's side, causing him to yelp and jump a few feet back, tearing through armor and flesh in his retreat. Naruto eyed his opponent as he slowly pulled the kunai out of his side. He griped the kunai, tip facing his opponent, and lunged.
The ANBU braced for impact, drawing a chakra shield. The shield cracked upon Naruto's impact. Naruto pushed against the crumbling shield, while the ANBU stood his ground, preparing a papered bomb.
Naruto snarled and exerted more force, breaking the shield. The ANBU quickly jumped out of the way, releasing his papered bomb at Naruto's feet. The bomb went off, sending splintering wood in all directions. Everyone dodged the wood, except Naruto. A few pieces embedded themselves within his body, causing a great deal of pain.
Naruto crouched and flared his chakra cloak, creating a heat blast and sending the now enflamed wood pieces propelling outward. A few were hit from the burning objects.
Still crouching, he scanned around for his next victim and spotted Ino, who was wiping her eyes from the heat that had burned and choked the air around her. He started to stalk towards her, intent on killing her gruesomely.
Sakura yelled at him to stop. He turned towards her and reluctantly backed off. Just then, Sai had opened up the portal and started backing up with Sakura in tow.
She began to scream and thrash in his grip. Sai was having a hard time restraining her.
"Naruto! Naruto help me!" Sakura screamed, terrified.
Naruto lunged at Sai in a furious rage. Kakashi at the same time, appeared behind Sai and managed to wrestle Sakura out from Sai's grasp, pushing him a little forward in the direct pathway of Naruto.
Sai didn't have time to recuperate as Naruto slammed into him full force, knocking him backwards, but also pushing him into Sakura and Kakashi. Kakashi tried to stand his ground, but Naruto's momentum was too much, and he fell backwards into the portal.
The moment Kakashi touched the portal, it sucked him and Sakura in and vanished. Mid fall, everything seemed to go in slow motion as Naruto saw Sakura disappear right before his eyes.
Sai hit the ground hard, and heard his shoulder dislocate. A stunned Naruto was pinned on top of him, but had his full attention on the spot where he last saw Sakura.
He whined and tore himself off of Sai, burning him and tearing his vest and armor in the process. Sai jumped away from Naruto, and placed himself a good length away. Naruto was circling the area and scratching around the ground. He was frantically searching for her, whining all the while.
Everyone was silent, weapons still drawn on Naruto, but Naruto didn't care about anyone at that moment, his Sakura had vanished into thin air.
Sai wasted no time in prepping to open the second portal.
Naruto had slumped to the ground defeated, his chakra cloak dissolving. Hot tears ran down his face, as he lifted his head to howl in anguish.
Naruto continued to howl his despair.
Neji turned to Ino, "What the fuck do we do now?!" He whispered hurriedly, trying to calm his racing heart from the massive amount of adrenaline and fear that was pulsing through his body.
"I-I don't know...She's gone," Ino exclaimed, her frightened eyes still trained on Naruto, afraid to blink.
"It's only a matter of a seconds before that creature's anguish turns into more anger and violence!" Neji exclaimed. Even in his paralyzed fear, he was still able to rationalize that bit of truth.
Shikamaru, who was far away from Ino & team but closest to Sai, heard Neji's statement over their connected transmission. He knew he only had one shot to get this right.
Sai had just opened the second portal and stood up. His eyes locked on Naruto. "Kyuubi!" he yelled.
Naruto flinched and stopped his howling, to turn towards Sai.
"That's right you idiot," Sai continued, " She's not gone you know! I know exactly where she is!"
It took a few seconds for Naruto to understand what Sai was saying. He turned towards Sai and crouched, eyes blazing and snarling.
"Don't get angry at me you demon scum! I'm trying to help you! Don't you want to see your precious flower again?" Sai continued to mock, making Naruto the more angrier with each of his words.
Hearing his nickname for Sakura come out of the mouth of one of his most hated enemies, Naruto started charging for Sai.
Right as Naruto started charging, Shikamaru utilized the moonlight filtering through the tree, to cast his shadow clone jutsu over Sai, gluing him in place right in front of the portal.
Sai smirked and prepared to jump out of Naruto's way, but stared at his feet in horror as he realized he was stuck. He traced his binding shadow to Shikamaru who was a few feet away, concentrating on holding Sai.
"What do you think you are doing?!" Sai screamed incredulously. He struggled harder, making Shikamaru's grip loosen. "Release me this instant you fuck, we are on the same side!"
Shikamaru smirked, "sure thing." He released the jutsu, but Sai was still too slow for Naruto.
Naruto barreled into Sai, his teeth sinking into his neck, and one clawed hand stabbing deep into his unarmored stomach. They flew into the portal and were swallowed up whole, the portal vanishing in an instant.
Everyone slumped to the ground in exhaustion.
Hinata stuttered out, "D-did we do the right thing?"
Shikamaru sighed, " I don't think so... It was all I could think to do to save our lives."
Ino was shaking with tears. Tenen went over to calm her down. She pushed Tenten away, and stood up. "We can't stay here, we have to start making our way back."
