It's the end of the world.

That's what Dean and Seamus think as they stand in the Owlery overlooking the Hogwarts grounds that will soon be crawling with Death Eaters. They stand their ground hand in hand, two casualties of a war that will end tonight, one way or another. They barely speak because there's not much worth saying and it's too late for words now anyway.

It's too late for Seamus to say all of the things he wrote down in letters he never sent in case Dean wasn't alive to receive them.

And it's too late for Dean to tell Seamus how many nights he spent awake, thinking about his best friend who he wishes was more than a friend.

It's one minute before midnight and there's no time to say anything the other doesn't already know. So Dean and Seamus share a first kiss in the Owlery and later they will argue about who initiated it, but in this moment it doesn't matter.

Because it's the end of the world, and that is as good an excuse as any to kiss the one you love.
