A/N: Ares' wound pertains to the one Athena caused during the Trojan War :)

Suicide

Eye to eye they stared.

Hers, with full apathy. His, bothered by the continuous draining of strength. She entered his chamber without his invitation, but words are never needed for them to be consented. Ares laid still, watching her step and sit by his bedside, feeling the futon sink on her weight. She glided her view from his half-opened eyes towards the blood-stained bandages under his heart, and it heated his skin just staring at the locks of her hair and the movement of her silver eyes.

No words escaped their throats. It was enough speech for him to understand the moment she placed dainty fingers above the wound which she caused with her spear. Once more their eyes met, and he earned the strength to lean on the pile of soft feather pillows to see a clearer view of her glamour. He opened his lips with a smile.

"That was a pretty good act-"

She slapped him, killing the next words to come.

Athena watched how his face has swiftly diverted at his side, and now his cheek has reddened. Ares' eyes sparkled in innocence. He slowly faced her and it terrified him to see the tears welling on those beautiful grey eyes. He has seen the ugliest of all things at the battlefield, and yet it never called his fear. Only then, as he watched a tear slip from her eye, had he felt the horror disguised in her grief.

She immediately pulled and enveloped him in her arms before letting out a frustrated sob. He felt the warmth of her skin, enticing him to let her cry on his shoulder. He felt her shiver. A shiver which indicated the intensity of her fear. A shiver which locked her in discomfort and sleepless hours. Only his touch can be able to melt the anxiety trapped on her veins which is consuming her life, killing her softly.

"I beg…you," Athena finally spoke as she rested her head above his collar bone, selflessly taking his time to rest. "Never force me to wound you again…"

Remembering how he dealt with the pain of the wound nearly eats her sanity. But both knew it was a way to weaken Zeus' suspicions between their guilty secrets. The king must be overjoyed to prove how the two gods hated each other, yet he never knew how he suffocated his princess with all his threats.

"You don't understand Ares…" she sighed and let another sheen tear slide from her closed lashes whilst saying her last words, "To pierce your flesh is to wound my heart. You've sent me not to make our father happy, but to slaughter myself."
