A Mirror into the Future

Prologue

"Come on Obito, or we're going to be late!" Rin frowned as she called out to her teammate, Obito Uchiha. Said boy came running out of the Uchiha Compound after her.

"I'm coming!" Obito called as he quickly caught up to the young girl. Together, they ran toward their training area, weaving through the crowded streets as they hurried to meet up with the other half of their team.

When they got there, they were surprised to find only Kakashi there waiting with a frown (at least they thought so) on his face.

"Good morning, Kakashi-kun!" Rin chirped happily, giving the silver-haired boy a small but bright smile. Kakashi still had the frown but nodded politely all the same then turned away.

'Still a Popsicle.' Obito thought with a scowl, giving his teammate an irritated and narrow glance.

The way waited for a long while before, eventually, there was a rustling sound across the clearing. They looked up to see their sensei, Minato Namikaze, looking down at them with a smile from a few trees away.

He gave them a slight wave as he explained himself. "Sorry I'm late. I had to talk to the Hokage." As he jumped down, the team was already making their way toward him with Obito in the lead, Kakashi just behind him moving at a sedate pace and Rin walking in front of Kakashi.

"So what type of training are we doing today?!" Obito asked excitedly, eyes bright and eager.

Minato opened his mouth to answer, his lips curling into a fond smile at his most energetic student, but he didn't get a chance to speak.

A flash of light engulfed them, stealing their breath and senses.

When the light cleared, they found themselves in forest that opened up to a small, glittering blue lake. They weren't alone though. A little ways among the trees, they the red-haired Kushina, the Sage Jiraiya, and Lady Tsunade sitting by the lake. Kushina looked up to see them first and smiled slightly in surprise.

"I guess we're all here, then." Kushina sighed, taking out her feet out the water and standing up. Team 7 looked at Kushina in confusion.

"Lady Kushina, what are you talking about?" Rin asked with her face twisted in a slight frown.

"Well," Tsunade replied in the red-haired woman's place. "We've been here for awhile waiting for something to happen...and you apparently were that something."

It was then obvious that the bright haired, heavily busted blonde and white-haired man had no more of an idea what was going on than they did.

"Then how did we end up here?" Minato asked, not really expecting any sort of answer as he looked at the bright green forest and crystal clear like around them.

Kushina opened her mouth to reply but she never got the chance to respond.

"You are all here because I summoned you." A deep voice rumbled from the cover of the trees. They looked up to see a man with crimson hair and eyes step out from the shadows. He walked toward them with a long, quiet stride. They all tensed and stared at the man warily but their eyes widened when they took the rest of him in. He had a single fox tail that curled slightly behind him and a pair of fox ears atop his head, both the same color as his hair and eyes.

"Who are you?" Kakashi questioned with a slight edge to his voice, placing his hand on top of his kunai pouch out of instinct. The others also adopted tense stances.

"You do not need to get feisty, boy. My name is Kurama." Kurama answered as he took a seat by the river, slipping his feet in the cool, clear water.

"Why have you called us here?" Tsunade asked, glancing out of the corner of her eye. Everyone else stared warily at the beautiful yet mysterious male.

"I have called you here to give you a glimpse into the future. You will see what shall happen should you all continue on the paths you walk now, from who you will affect to who you may become close to." He answered in a serious tone. "As it is, the future is slowly heading toward a dark and unnecessary path that effects us all."

The group present gave him confused stared. He decided to elaborate.

"I am going to show you one boy's life, as well as a couple of other things that shall make sense over time. I am hoping, by my showing you the future, that you will see the changes that need to be made for all of us, myself included, to survive." He elaborated, staring them down with eyes the color of freshly spilled blood.

He raised a clawed hand and it glowed an electric apple green color tinted with flecks of red. He swiped his hand across the water of the lake before them. The clear water rippled as it slowly began to turn dark and make shapes.

Hesitantly, they all walked forward and surrounded the intimidating man to get a closer look...
